@Whatwouldscullydo

I had a jumped up arsehole question why I was out with my son once and I said because he has autism and adhd, I shouldn'thaveto have said anything

But they were out too.

And why were they close enough to speak to you...

Walking their dog. That was okay according to them, i'd got out of a car so maybe I wasn't local and was infecting their clean neighbourhood with my over-the-boundary germs Grin

I’m joking! This thread is insane.
Mainly @Lorius

ForestNymph · 21/12/2020 20:08

@TheBuffster I can't put into words how angry that makes me. I'm so fucking sorry. You deserve better.

@Blondieg great idea but there are no staff for the nightingales. The hospital has to send staff with patients to nightingales.... hospitals that are already struggling to staff shifts with bank/agency etc. Staff are also pretty knackered and prob can’t do anymore overtime than they already have. The nightingales are a pr stunt for the government.

As for the op I don’t know what the answer is, I see the damage this does to patients, what is happening to people, communities and businesses from restrictions and there is no answer. I look to other countries who seem to do similar, not seen any true answer there either. Sweden’s approach hasn’t worked either come winter.

How we can just open up as normal and shield the vulnerable though? I would love to know how do we do actually do this?I read it so often. So many of those vulnerable to covid aren’t just the elderly retired. Many are of working age or those that have children that go to school. I work with several that would be classed as vulnerable to covid due to health, weight or ethnicity and they work in a hospital ward with me.

The critical care unit at my trust has been busy with people from their 30s up, often most are in their late 40s to late 60s. All probably working still and active members of the community. Some of them parents of school aged kids too.

Sadly it looks like the majority support a new lockdown as with over 1000 votes in the clear majority say YANBU

I am saying that with three vulnerable people in my family. At first I was very strong that we needed it to protect them. However, now one family member has had one vaccination and due the next soon and the other two are self isolating themselves. Those who are most at risk having not had the injection need to self Isolate themselves abc then there is no need for others to lockdown

ForestNymph · 21/12/2020 20:10

Anyone who wants to lock down, just stay home then. Let the rest of us live our lives

To be fair I pressed the wrong button.Confused

@Delatron

It's not about locking anyone up. Lockdown is designed to save lives.

Our 'lockdowns' though have been a walk in the park and as a result we have had 80,000+ deaths.

China literally welded shut the doors of people who thought they were too special to follow the rules.

We need a proper lockdown, harshly enforced with tough penalties for breaches.

No one should be allowed to leave home unless they are 1. A key worker or 2. Going for their weekly shopping trip for essential items only (ie items that people would die without) at their allocated supermarket only.

Fuck off. Go and live in China if you love authoritarianism so much. Whats stopping you?

Preparefortheflaming · 21/12/2020 20:12

I’d rather do a really harsh lockdown for a few weeks than all this we’ve had on and off all year

ForestNymph · 21/12/2020 20:13

@Lorius what's the point of being alive if we have to live like caged animals?

Whatwouldscullydo · 21/12/2020 20:14

Allocated supermarkets now?

Seriously..you know there are vegetarians vegans Muslims Jewish people thise with allergies etc who may not be able to purchase what they need at their "allocated" supermarket.

And not much good when you have three females in the house and tesco will only sell you three small packs.of pads wtf is wrong with u

demitrimendeleev1 · 21/12/2020 20:15

@ForestNymph Louris is mad but we should try and be better than that

OP posts:
TheBuffster · 21/12/2020 20:15

@ForestNymph thank you. To add insult to injury we're not even sure if it was caused by jaundice and not having access to hospital. We're first time parents so just kept getting 'reassured'. We're due to have MRI to find out but as in tier 4 now likely cancelled.
It's been a tough year. Understatement.

ForestNymph · 21/12/2020 20:16

What about eating disorser suffers with safe foods? Autistics who have sensory difficulties? Honestly this is so fucking ridiculous.

Also if someone's already in there buying their state mandated beans on toast how does picking up a bottle of beer raise the risk?

I think Lorius just wants everyone to be miserable.

FreshFreesias · 21/12/2020 20:17

The only people I know who are fanatical lockdown supporters are retired or who are well off and not affected.
Try asking a cabbie or a publican or anyone whose life has been completely destroyed by this madness.

WitchQueenofDarkness · 21/12/2020 20:17

@Lorius

Mark Drakeford - is that you?

I'm so sorry, honestly. My daughter had a brain bleed and jaundice and we had access to care because that was 2018, back when we all had rights. She was high risk for CP but they've said she doesn't have it luckily. If there's anything I can help you with or anything you want to know, please message me. I'm genuinely fuming on your behalf because this could easily have been my DD. I wish I could say something more useful but everything will sound hollow

FreshFreesias · 21/12/2020 20:19

@Lorius is that you, Kim Jon un?

Nah us plebs don't matter clearly.

ForestNymph · 21/12/2020 20:20

That was supposed to quote @freshfreesias the second time there!

YouDidWHATNow · 21/12/2020 20:21

No, as someone with both myself and family working in the NHS on the frontline, I would not support another lockdown. I'm not entirely sure many peoples mental health could take it, I know mine couldn't.
