young people have not sacrificed anything
Apart from their education, their jobs, their mental health, their futures, the total decimation of any industries they might have been working in, or invested a lot in becoming part of?

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 21/12/2020 19:53

I dont think Spain not letting their children out is the best example to go by..at all!

Delatron · 21/12/2020 19:54

Why don’t @Lorius and all the pro crazy lockdown supporters barricade themselves inside and the rest of us get on with it?

It truly is getting to the point where the cure is worse than the disease..

GlummyMcGlummerson · 21/12/2020 19:55

No I wouldn't we've had enough now. I think we are losing sight of what we are locking down for

Lorius · 21/12/2020 19:55

@ForestNymph

I think rather than 'jumped up arsehole' you mean 'selfless good Samaritan'.

Members of the public monitoring who is going out unnecessarily or too frequently is a good thing!

We should all be holding each other accountable for being selfish and not staying at home!

tenlittlecygnets · 21/12/2020 19:55

I think schools should close until the numbers come down. I don't feel safe sending my dc to school, cases rose so fast in last two weeks of term. So yes, I'd support a lockdown.

Blondieg · 21/12/2020 19:56

I say we pay nurses what they deserve, incentivise the return of disenfranchised workforce, pay bumper bonuses to all covid staff to staff all those emergency hospitals that were built in record time and carry on with normal life knowing that the nhs wont be overwhelmed as the staff are awaiting us with a bed. Raise tax to pay for it x

This is what I don't understand. If they truly think they want to be isolated and no job or anything else is worth it, whats stopping them locking themselves away? Crack on for all i care.

No, I don't think you're a good samaritan. I think you're an insane curtain twitching little Hitler who's projecting her own cowardice as heroics.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 21/12/2020 19:57

I think rather than 'jumped up arsehole' you mean 'selfless good Samaritan'.

@Lorius can you explain what is so selfless about something shouting at a woman who's where she's allowed to be with her disabled son?

lljkk · 21/12/2020 19:58

@Blondieg, which taxes would you raise, and how much? VAT, income, stamp duty?

Passmeabottlemrjones · 21/12/2020 19:58

Young people here have not sacrificed anything.

Please...... Just stop.

And yes, the not letting kids out of their house at all for 2 months really helped Spain didn't it... Hmm

GlummyMcGlummerson · 21/12/2020 19:59

Members of the public monitoring who is going out unnecessarily or too frequently is a good thing!

No it's not. Look up how the Nazi party started and then come back and say the same thing.

We should all be holding each other accountable for being selfish and not staying at home!

No we shouldn't. We should be minding our own business and not make assumptions

She's following the rules which are clearly always correct and apply perfectly to every situation. Hmm

Honestly this sort of behaviour is worse than covid itself.

I suggest you learn some history and read the book 1984 to work out the appalling path that you are suggesting we go down of course I am not conflating the two things but it’s the very thin end of the wedge

Yep but with schools open for keyworker's kids like the first time. Schools closing means even more pressure on the NHS/health care as staffing levels will be lower.

timeforanewstart · 21/12/2020 19:59

Are people happy living with current restrictions then with so
Much we can't do , dragging on and on
Mn is funny everyone calling for xmas relaxations to be cancelled as too risky then you get a thread like this where people say let it run its course ??

Aaaaaand you have over egged the pudding!

Nice try Grin

GlummyMcGlummerson · 21/12/2020 20:00

@Lorius 1984 is a novel mate not a "how to" manual

IndecentFeminist · 21/12/2020 20:03

Cause all that "sacrifice' worked really well for Spain didn't it. 🙄👏

Whatwouldscullydo · 21/12/2020 20:05

I had a jumped up arsehole question why I was out with my son once and I said because he has autism and adhd, I shouldn'thaveto have said anything

But they were out too.

And why were they close enough to speak to you...

Delatron · 21/12/2020 20:05

Let’s lock up the children and all snitch on each other. It’s worth it for this killer mutant virus!

@sneakysnoopysniper

Tier 3 here. Im in my 70s so the lockdown does not really affect me. I dont travel. But I see the effects on the economy and on the lives, businesses and mental health of the community. Lockdowns do not work.

Shield the vulnerable and let the rest get on with their lives. People will die but they will die anyway.

As for the NHS - we dont have one any more. We have a National Corona Service. Thats not what I signed up for when I paid all that money into the kitty.

Yes, this! My cp baby has missed vital medical intervention because of this and we were late getting any help due to telephone consultations and doctors reassuring us without examining him. There's a very small window that physiotherapy really helps rewire the brain- and we're losing it day by day so we can prolong the lives of a minority. I didn't think we'd ever be abandoned by the NHS with a disabled child and for very little results.
studychick81 · 21/12/2020 20:06

No, it just doesn't make sense anymore with what he now know about the virus and the tiny amount who die from it. Now we have the vaccine once those who most need it have had it I don't see how they can justify it.

I was fully supportive of the March one and reluctantly went along with the November one too. In the March one I was scared and followed the rules religiously, thought everyone needs to their bit.

But I ve changed my mind now. I ve had enough. The country can't go on hold any longer, businesses and people's lives are being effected too much now. We can't just keep going in and out of lockdown.
