@ForestNymph

The selfish ones are the people going out multiple times per day for totally non-essential purposes.

Frankly a £1000 on the spot fine would soon put a stop to it.

Buying a bottle of gin is not worth killing someone with COVID.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 21/12/2020 19:38

@Whatwouldscullydo

Well lockdowns have failed twice so far so no.

I think money would be better spent on properly securing work places and schools than on UC for the millions of people losing their jobs and homes as a result .

No, lockdowns have NOT failed us. Both times the numbers dropped a LOT, try understanding exponential growth!

Vaccines are on the way, we NEED to lockdown & get everyone vaccinated.

Stay home, keep your kids home, get vaccinated as soon as you're able.

HermioneWeasley · 21/12/2020 19:38

Absolutely not. The whole world has shown you can’t “control a virus” without destroying peoples lives and the economy.

This has got to be left to run its course or it will never be done.

The way people have happily surrendered their rights is terrifying.

No, the selfish ones are those who want to imprison everyone due to a virus that kills less than 1% of its sufferers. I've had covid. You're being hysterical.

Go have a diazepam and calm down love.

ForestNymph · 21/12/2020 19:40

Aye. Very sinister indeed

The speed at which people are ready for young people to take the brunt is too.

@Whatwouldscullydo

£1000 fine for buying gin???!!!???! This is absolutely the most insane thing I’ve ever read on MN

Even the police had to back up on the trolley check idea if a shop is open then you can buy whats in it. Including the fecking gin. Off-licences were deemed essential and allowed to open so piss off

@Whatwouldscullydo it was Easter eggs as well wasn’t it? Absolutely bonkers. Awesome user name by the way.
TimeForLunch · 21/12/2020 19:41

I will never support another nationwide lockdown.

Lorius · 21/12/2020 19:42

This is not about what each one of us want. It is about protecting people from this mutant killer virus.

We all need to suck it up and stay at home. The vast, vast majority of people do not need to be outside their homes at all for the next 6 weeks.

ForestNymph · 21/12/2020 19:43

Mutant killer virus 😂😂😂

Less than 1% mortality rate. All viruses mutate. Get a grip

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 21/12/2020 19:43

Most of the country is in tier 3 already, what’s the difference?

Whatwouldscullydo · 21/12/2020 19:44

Who the hell are you to decide whats essential. Try telling an alcoholic they cabt have their drink. The cold turkey could kill them

If off licenses are open we can go buy something.

Don't have to run it past you

Lorius · 21/12/2020 19:44

@MarshaBradyo

The ones 'taking the brunt' are the 80,000+ people in the UK who have died of COVID.

Young people here have not sacrificed anything. DC in Spain had to stay indoors at all times for 2 months to keep people safe.

That is what sacrifice is about.

dreamingofsun · 21/12/2020 19:44

rates are pretty low where i live so why should we have a lockdown just because some areas eslewhere cant follow the rules and social distance. and if any local residents are really worried let them isolate.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/12/2020 19:45

So ignoring the obvious wind up, is anyone going to share any ideas as to how the much-touted "proper" lockdown could be enforced ... ?

ForestNymph · 21/12/2020 19:45

young people have not sacrificed anything

Yes we have. Shut up before you make yourself look even more foolish.

Of course they have and people want more

I’m not sure if you’re just winding people up

dreamingofsun · 21/12/2020 19:47

forest - i agree. my 3 kids have compromised their education, jobs, social lives and flat purchases/living conditions. And compromised their economic futures.

LenaBlack · 21/12/2020 19:47

I will not support another lockdown. My struggling sector will collapse..it might very well happen anyway with the current restrictions..second lockdown has been bad. It will be overall very bad for the country and longer term implications.

Dillo10 · 21/12/2020 19:48

Didn't know we had a choice!

Exactly. I spent ages this year cooped up with an ASD child who was throwing meltdowns about it daily and two then 1 year old twins who have spent almost their whole lives being separated from other kids and normal childhood activities. Its not fucking fair.
lunar1 · 21/12/2020 19:50

If I ruled the country I'd lockdown, send the army and every qualified person door to door giving the vaccine and release households whenever the second dose dictates it's effective. There would be biometric ID too.

People who can't be vaccinated should then have enough protection and resources to get back to normal too.

I'm sick of this, lockdown works for it's intended purpose, a delay till the vaccine is administered widely enough.

Probably a good job I'm not in charge 🤣

Whatwouldscullydo · 21/12/2020 19:50

forest Flowers

The fact that they had to be reminded disabled people exist in order to "authorise" trips out so they could go somewhere accessible fir fresh air/exercise/enable a routine said all you needed to know.

Vargas · 21/12/2020 19:50

No, because they don't seem to work very well and they trash the economy.

I had a jumped up arsehole question why I was out with my son once and I said because he has autism and adhd, I shouldn't have to have said anything.

The whole thing is a ridiculous situation that should never have occurred.
