Considering half of this site seems to be completely happy with breaking Covid related laws which other laws do you think shouldn't apply to you?
Is a TV licence too expensive and therefore optional? Should seatbelts be compulsory? Is it ever acceptable to take something without paying? Is assault acceptable in certain circumstances?

OP posts:
LadyLazaruss · 19/12/2020 22:34

Cringe.

missrks · 19/12/2020 22:34

Assault? Only if they really deserved it..

LadyLazaruss · 19/12/2020 22:34

And TV licences are optional actually. We don't have one.

Letmegoplease · 19/12/2020 22:35

Murder. If it was Boris Johnson. (I’m jk) Wink

TheRaccoon · 19/12/2020 22:36

Oh my god enough with this!

TeenyTinyDustinHoffman · 19/12/2020 22:37

Did that help OP? Do you feel better now?

FuckOffBorisYouTwat · 19/12/2020 22:37

Well I don't mind having the odd spliff. I drive over 70 mph occasionally. I've used a illegal downloading site. I've cycled drunk and I'm in tier three and had a friend in my garden for a coffee. It's a fair cop guvnor.

Mrgrinch · 19/12/2020 22:38

I was wondering the same. Disgusted at the attitude of so many on here this evening.

Oh bless you op.

There is an emergency service you might not have heard of. It's called the police. They are very busy all of the time because, believe it or not (and I know this is a shock), people break the law. All. Of. The. God. Damn. Time.

expatinspain · 19/12/2020 22:39

Are they actually laws or guidelines though?

Captainj1 · 19/12/2020 22:40

I regularly drive over 70mph on the motorway. I lost by virginity before my 16th birthday and drank alcohol way before I was 18. People break laws quite often, mostly in a risk-assessed way.

wanderings · 19/12/2020 22:41

Loads of them. I used to be a stickler for rules, but this whole fucking saga of pointlezz roolz which apply to the plebs but not the government has given me much less respect for roolz in general. And if any MPs get caught breaking the Christmas roolz - they can forget about any further compliance from me.

Nottherealslimshady · 19/12/2020 22:43

Ugh I hate paying my tv licence but their vultures behave horribly and i have too bad anxiety to have the constant stress that they'll turn up demanding to come in my house. It's a disgusting thing though.

I would kill anyone that broke into my house. And if anyone hurt a child in my family I would beat them to within an inch of their lives before the police got to them.

I believe in being a good person and not causing harm. So if someone stole from me I wouldn't hurt them for revenge because it's not worth it on my balance sheet. I wouldn't steal from someone no matter how much I needed money. But I would do whatever I needed to do to protect myself if I thought I was in danger. And I would do anything to someone who hurt a child in my family, because it would be worth it. And I'd commit any crime that doesn't hurt someone.

Breaking covid rules hurts people.

Love51 · 19/12/2020 22:44

I work in a job with an enhanced criminal record check, my husband's job also requires being squeaky clean. I have occasional fantasies about being retired and committing as many minor infringements as I like. All the stuff that is technically illegal but won't land you in prison.
I never thought having guests round for a civilized cup of tea would fall into that category.
I'm not breaking the rules but I consider myself privileged not to need to.

Cam2020 · 19/12/2020 22:46

Typically I obey laws because the likelihood and severity of the consequence outweigh the imperative for that behaviour. Run a light at 3am yes, kill a stranger over a parking spot no, kill a stranger threatening my family yes. It's just maths.

MaxNormal · 19/12/2020 23:18

I used to take illegal drugs if that helps?

On a more serious note, where i grew up we had a moral duty to break the law as it was a shit law. The law it not necessarily a moral arbiter.

Chocolate1992 · 19/12/2020 23:33

I don’t even know the COVID laws anymore, im just carrying in as normal, nobody’s stopped me so far.
No, I don’t pay for a tv license.
I do wear a seatbelt.
I don’t steal.
Assault - in some circumstances yes.

ilikebooksandplants · 19/12/2020 23:39

I used to be partial to the odd line of coke and when I just googled ‘weird laws I’ve probably broken’ I found that it’s illegal to put stamps upside down. I have no qualms about breaking that law. Hope that answers your question, OP!

ExhaustedGrinch · 19/12/2020 23:47

I've been convicted of a fair few things, I act in accordance with my own moral compass mostly rather than the law.

1FootInTheRave · 19/12/2020 23:58

Homicide is becoming more tempting by the say tbh...

1FootInTheRave · 19/12/2020 23:58

Day ffs

NetballHoop · 20/12/2020 00:01

I've broken all the laws that I'd expect a 50ish year old to have broken.
I've obviously broken speed limits, probably driven when over the limit, taken drugs, had sex under 16, nicked from Woollies pick and mix, recorded songs off the radio, watched illegally downloaded films etc.
With Covid I would say that I have been 95% compliant with what we have been told to do. The 5% has put no one at risk so I don't refer it at all.
