Considering half of this site seems to be completely happy with breaking Covid related laws which other laws do you think shouldn't apply to you?
Is a TV licence too expensive and therefore optional? Should seatbelts be compulsory? Is it ever acceptable to take something without paying? Is assault acceptable in certain circumstances?

@EggBobbin

You wouldn’t steal A CAR....!
I literally heard that play in my head as soon as I read the OP 😂😂

I love the smell of sanctimony in the morning.

@FuckOffBorisYouTwat

Well I don't mind having the odd spliff. I drive over 70 mph occasionally. I've used a illegal downloading site. I've cycled drunk and I'm in tier three and had a friend in my garden for a coffee. It's a fair cop guvnor.
GrinGrin

Thinking about it, I do drive at over 70 on the motorway when I can, I drank alcohol before 18- in the park where all the cool kids were Grin I'd assault and even potentially kill someone if they hurt my family or tried to. I even thought the other day when I unlocked my car steering lock, if someone tried to steal my car when I was with it or attack me, I would easily use it as a weapon and that whacked round the head would probably kill them. I don't think that would be legal Hmm

millymokk · 20/12/2020 07:50

I’ve broken lots of the laws which seem common to break from this thread, starting with stealing Woolworths pic n mix ages about 5. I definitely drank plenty of alcohol before I turned 18 and had a fake ID to get into nightclubs aged 16/17.

Same here! Go straight to jail.

Delta1 · 20/12/2020 07:52

I love this thread - it's cheered me right up. 😂

When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.

NorbertMeubles · 20/12/2020 07:59

I went for an eye test once to a Northern location quite some miles away from my home. I was feeling ill but soldiered on as my wife and child were in the car and my wife had a bad cold.

I watch TV, and haven't had a license for decades.
I've broken covid rules almost non-stop, in fact, my whole street have an 'understanding' about the rules not applying to us.

Jimdandy · 20/12/2020 08:00

I’m breaking the COVID-19 rules (I think) because my children go to my Mum’s and Aunty’s for the informal childcare. The way
I read it they’re only supposed to go to one household for this. But I don’t have a lot of choice other than give up work and go on benefits which I don’t want and can’t afford.

I speed occasionally when I realise I’m going over 70 on a motorway.

pinkstripeycat · 20/12/2020 08:01

Just goes to show how selfish some people are. The law doesn’t apply to them. They are doing to buy all the food in the shops and leave nothing for anyone else. If any of those selfish lot had been affected by covid or a Speeding driver they think twice I’m sure. Let’s hope karma comes their way

islockdownoveryet · 20/12/2020 08:01

If nobody broke the law we'd have no prisons .
It makes me chuckle people are actually horrified that people are still going ahead with seeing family at Christmas.
I'm more horrified at the 3 attempted robberies at the shops near me in the last week .
The police are overwhelmed they are in special measures in greater Manchester ( I'm not surprised ) but yeah let's report those seeing family at Christmas.
Just stay home at not worry what others are doing .

Are you hounded with letters? We cancelled ours a few months back and still keep getting the 'official' letters once a month or so Grin
BettyBumclench · 20/12/2020 08:03

I may be above some laws, but I have also steadfastly refused to panic buy. Who's behaviour has really had the worst effects?? Mine, by seeing people, or the people who strip the shelves quite legally of toilet rolls?

whatkatydid2013 · 20/12/2020 08:05

There will be loads of things people do that are illegal. The driving ones are the best comparison. Risk of anything actually going wrong if you speed/drive on pavement to park/overtake illegally etc is very small. Negative consequences if something does go wrong can be fairly minimal (damage to car for example) up to very serious (you kill someone). Number of people who always obey all traffic laws all the time vs number who break them when they think it will be ok based on specific situation? Based on a sample of everyone I know 100% of people break at least some of the rules some of the time. Why exactly would it surprise you that similar thinking is being applied to covid related laws? Please don’t answer because it could kill people because so can breaking the law while driving.

I've namechanged....but yes, I get letters regularly. They barely even raise an eyebrow from me these days. Just more recycling fodder. They mean nothing, they are computer generated and utterly, utterly toothless.

A relative of mine got a conviction for GBH for punching her MIL in the face about 20 years ago.

She still says she doesn't regret it!

I'll be breaking the law if it means my brother doesn't try to kill himself at Christmas and my sister doesn't self harm.

Just as I'd steal food to feed my son if I couldn't afford to buy any.

treening · 20/12/2020 08:07

In terms of other laws I've broken

I've downloaded loads of pirated TV shows and films before netflix was a thing

Downloaded loads of music illegally before Spotify was a thing

And taken drugs

NotOfThisWorld · 20/12/2020 08:07

@ChristmasTreeFairy5000

Oh bless you op.

There is an emergency service you might not have heard of. It's called the police. They are very busy all of the time because, believe it or not (and I know this is a shock), people break the law. All. Of. The. God. Damn. Time.

Don't be so silly. Most people on this site aren't criminals. If they're DC broke the law they'd be horrified. At the moment they're just acting like selfish children and deciding it's temporarily OK to break the law,

Bloody hell - GBH for that?!
vanillandhoney · 20/12/2020 08:09

I don't believe there's any adult alive who's never broken the law.

ivykaty44 · 20/12/2020 08:10

£2.2 billion taken in speeding fines alone in the U.K.

I would hazard a guess op that speeding laws are the most broken of all our laws and they also have tragic consequences if it goes wrong

treening · 20/12/2020 08:11

MoltenLasagne · 20/12/2020 08:13

I've visited quite a few countries where it's illegal to be homosexual with my at the time girlfriend.

My sister and her then boyfriend lived in a country where pre-marital sex was a crime.

I've jaywalked in the USA but mostly because I had no sodding idea that was a crime at the time and there were no crossings to be seen.
