Considering half of this site seems to be completely happy with breaking Covid related laws which other laws do you think shouldn't apply to you?
Is a TV licence too expensive and therefore optional? Should seatbelts be compulsory? Is it ever acceptable to take something without paying? Is assault acceptable in certain circumstances?

I’ve broken lots of the laws which seem common to break from this thread, starting with stealing Woolworths pic n mix ages about 5. I definitely drank plenty of alcohol before I turned 18 and had a fake ID to get into nightclubs aged 16/17. I was quite partial to recreational drugs in my late teens and early twenties and still enjoy the occasional spliff now. I’ve driven over 70mph many times on the motorway and made the odd illegal u-turn. I have illegally downloaded films and music from the internet and streamed films too. I’d imagine most people won’t get through adulthood without knowingly breaking at least a couple of laws.

Was this OP written by Alan Partridge?

Tons of traffic laws. I've driven without my seatbelt. I speed sometimes. I beep my horn when I shouldn't. I've overtaken in some places I'm not supposed to. I've parked illegally. I'm sure there are more. I also drove for a few yards in my grandfather's car without a license when I was about 8.
I've taken my kids out of school to see things like the partial eclipse.
I've dropped litter.
I've ridden the bus without paying.
I've taken illegal drugs.
I bought alcohol when I was under age.
At 15 I had sex with another 15 year old.
I've defaced currency.
I've been drunk in a pub.
I've broken criminal copyright law.
I've smuggled things back through the duty free channel instead of declaring.
I've participated in lock-ins.
I blasphemed before that was abolished.
I helped a woman in Northern Ireland obtain an illegal abortion.

EveryPlanetHasAYorkshire · 20/12/2020 02:03

It's not that I am choosing to break the covid rules; I just don't feel like we have any choice. I have suffered from mental health issues for a long time and have been having panic attacks several times a week. The thought of spending a few days with my parents at Christmas was the only thing stopping me from throwing myself off a bridge. Now that has been snatched away from me. Sorry but nope. I will continue to see them as normal.

I used to illegally download music and films back in the day.

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:33

Well I've broken loads mainly covered already on the thread.

Does that help?

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:34

Ooh Napster was fun back in the day!

Good call.

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:35

I think wearing trousers was only legalised officially in Paris in the 80s or something?

I've never driven sheep over London bridge without a licence.

NiceGerbil · 20/12/2020 02:36

Hmm I have ripped envelopes and got the stamp.

Defacing a pic of the Queen was/ is treason?

TheGremlinsAreComing · 20/12/2020 02:47

The problem is that humans are sociable animals. and now that very basic human trait is illegal to act upon, which makes normally pretty law abiding citizens think fuck this shit.

Also don't have a tv licence because the BBC isn't worth my cash.

I'd definitely defend my home and kids by any means necessary.

The thing is, rules that make sense are all well and good and people will generally follow them. However, rules that are complete tosh like most of the Covid ones..

PandemicAtTheDisco · 20/12/2020 02:48

Plenty of people are okay with speeding, drink driving, illegal drugs, stealing from work - cheating on hours worked, petrol costs, business trips and office supplies.

Benefit cheats - much lower cost than people realise when compared to how much people cheat on their taxes.

Landlords/landladies/letting agents - Falsely claiming deposits for cleaning or repairs instead of returning full amount.

Postal theft - ebay buyers claiming non-delivery! Selling on unstamped used stamps.

Selling fake goods.

Noisy neighbours, trespassing, cutting neighbours trees down, moving property boundaries.

GreenWheat · 20/12/2020 02:51

It's because the Covid rules keep changing and don't make sense to a lot of people. "Don't have a cuppa with a mate in your garden" is a lot different to "Don't hack someone's head off with a chainsaw". The consequences are indirect and the individual act seems small and insignificant. Also at this point, lots of people don't really care if people they don't know die of Covid. That's why, OP.

1forAll74 · 20/12/2020 03:16

I got away without paying two speeding fines, about seven or eight years ago I was doing either 34 or 35 mph, in 30 zone, It was in a different county to where I now live.

Userzzz · 20/12/2020 03:28

You sound jealous, maybe start breaking some rules yourself!

DeeCeeCherry · 20/12/2020 03:49

FuckOffBorisYouTwat
Well I don't mind having the odd spliff. I drive over 70 mph occasionally. I've used a illegal downloading site. I've cycled drunk and I'm in tier three and had a friend in my garden for a coffee. It's a fair cop guvnor
🤣

DeeCeeCherry · 20/12/2020 03:50

God there've been so many Betty Bumclench posts tonight but I reckon you could be the winner OP

BritWifeinUSA · 20/12/2020 03:50

Any that are unconstitutional.

PhilCornwall1 · 20/12/2020 05:48

Let's see, I've had a joint or two in the past, I drive over 70 on motorways, been in a pub underage (many times), I also have a fair old stash of illegally downloaded technical books.

Covid laws? Probably all of them, if I knew what they were. They change every 5 minutes.

Wheres that thread with everyone missing ecstacy Grin
CarlottaValdez · 20/12/2020 05:56

Quite a few on this thread also apply to me. I’d be surprised if there are any adults who’ve never broken a law.

TeachesOfPeaches · 20/12/2020 05:58

COVID rules aren't law

ForestNymph · 20/12/2020 06:01

What bootlicking fuckery is this?

CarlottaValdez · 20/12/2020 06:15

COVID rules aren't law

They really are.

ShinyGreenElephant · 20/12/2020 06:48

Oh I'd break most laws under the right circumstances I think. Anyone ever abused my kids in any way I would either kill them or have them killed. If I needed to steal to feed them or take care of them I wouldn't hesitate. I used to buy weed for my auntie when she needed it (cancer) and it was still illegal. And I'll be seeing most of my family over Christmas (over 3 days) because all of us except the step kids have had covid in November, cases are very low in our area and I see no reason to blindly follow Boris Johnson the corrupt lying twat when logic says there is an incredibly minimal risk to any of us.

Oh and no, I dont have a TV licence, clearly it is optional because noone has ever questioned it

PhilCornwall1 · 20/12/2020 07:06

I had this exact conversation with my wife last night. If anybody hurt my wife and boys in any way at all, I wouldn't stop until I found them and made them suffer.

EggBobbin · 20/12/2020 07:38

You wouldn’t steal A CAR....!
