Couple of friends posted this on Fb, in what way could it be a social experiment and why?

If you don’t want bizarre answers don’t ask for the answer to this question op. Believe me I live with one of these nutters and it’s frightening some of the stuff they think is happening right now.

@Coriandersucks That’s why I put it on here as I’m guessing it would be a more balanced approach looking at it from deferent levels..on their posts it obviously won’t be.
Why what does the person you live with say?

Life is indeed an ongoing social experiment. I just want to know why we have to be its guinea pigs.

It’s not going to be balanced though. Their arguments are batshit crazy (if they’re following the line of thinking my dp does) - that’s really all you can say about it. If you ask them they will likely be unable to give you a coherent answer - just spout the popular lines ‘do your own research’ and ‘the storm is coming’. It’s a doomsday cult. Just roll your eyes and ignore.

These people are incredibly smart, ‘Normal’ people (whatever that means!) that’s why I’m finding it so strange

Maybe all this
is happening in some lab?

@Warsawa31 it’s not about number of deaths it’s about what our hospitals can cope with. Many in the SE are at breaking point. I was taken to hospital as an emergency case last month (not Covid) - without lockdown there may not have been an ICU bed available for me. That’s a bloody scary prospect.

I have heard the idea that ‘they’ are testing how easily we will give up our freedoms and inform on our neighbours. I don’t believe this. Maybe there are some fascists-in-waiting watching with interest, but then there have been plenty of cases in history they can already learn from.

Every big theory or event has an alternative conspiracy theory behind it. Think flat earth, 911, moon landings, vaccines and 'big pharma' causing autism, to name a few. Usually people believe these conspiracies because for whatever reason they believe its all about government control. Covid is just another example.

And no poster who claims it’s all a social experiment has given one valid reason why a capitalist government just for fun - what purpose???

@Standandwait Interesting, can you try to explain it a little? I get the gist of it but also am just about surviving on a few hours sleep a night with a teething toddler

OP I predict the phrase “Go and do your own research” or simply “Look it up” are marching towards this thread with ill-deserved confidence.

I think they are making a social experiment out of it, tbh.Doesn't mean that the virus doesn't exist, but I don't buy that the gov have handled it badly as a reason we are in this shit show. They know exactly what they are doing.

I really don’t think these things should be given airtime - they’re dangerous, spread misinformation and destroy families. If you really want to know op just ask your mates.

someone at work told me today that its all a conspiracy to bring in sharia law! of all the ridiculous things to say. it made me laugh but now i worry for these people!

Making promises and then turning them into disappointments is an old psychological trick to demoralise people.

STRATEGY: Create atmosphere of fear.

TACTICS: Exaggerate the risk of the virus, including the (“new variant”). Manipulate data, News stories, Sack people who criticise.

Frightened and demoralised people are easier to control.
