To want Scotland to invade the North of England?

Having been royally shat on by the English government during this whole Covid debacle, I'm wondering whether it would be fucking fantastic if Sturgeon and her gang stampeded down to maybe the River Tees and just took the lot for Scotland's own.

Anyone still northern but further south than the River Tees who would campaign for them to move the border even further south?

If Scotland would like to run England I would be delighted. No-one could do a worse job than ‘lies on a bus’ proroguing Johnson, bullying Patel, ‘eat out to help out oh whoops is there a pandemic on’ Javid and ‘exam fiasco what exam fiasco of course schools can’t close a week early oh btw we’re now tier 4’ Williamson. Except perhaps Gove.

I wish Nicola Sturgeon had directed her patriotism to Britain instead of just Scotland, she would have made a great PM.

Believe me, as shite a job as those have done, you don't want nicola etc running things either - she talks a good game, the reality is far different.

As a Scot in the Borders can I point out that we are Conservative voting in this region! Just because Wee Nippy sounds good and spends all her time doing daily press briefings doesn't mean she is any good at anything else. Just look at the Care home deaths and what about the conference held in Edinburgh that brought in Covid 19 (Nike I think it was back in Jan/Feb.) that she knew all about but didn't tell us because to identify delegate's home areas would break confidentiality rules! What about tracing their contacts? No more interested in keeping it quiet!

I like Nicola Sturgeon and think she is handling the Covid crisis better than many other heads of government.

DawnAnn · 20/12/2020 01:51

No chance. I am in the North East and wouldn't be interested.

No we don't want her here, it was bad enough having Dominic Cummings come test his eye sight, I truly hate all politicians.

The Scots have more in common with Londoners politically than they do with the north of England. London and Scotland wanted to remain in the EU and London and Scotland didn’t vote Tory. Why would Scotland want to be outnumbered by the Brexit Tory voting English?

TheWernethWife · 20/12/2020 09:12

bellinisurge north of Manchester here. I would be happy if we were cut off at the River Trent and had our own Northern Parliament. Leave Scotland to look after themselves.

Seymour5 · 20/12/2020 09:19

Scot in Yorkshire here. Nicola's patriotism is more like tribalism IMO, and is based in unrealistic resentment towards England. The surge towards the SNP has in all probability stopped Labour getting into Westminster for the forseeable.

There are more similarities than differences between people in Scotland and England. I would add, the English have never given me the hard times my English husband and his family faced when they moved to Scotland. Much as I love my Scottish roots, they also contain Irish and English dna. The same applies to many 'proud Scots' I'd imagine.
