To want Scotland to invade the North of England?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 17/12/2020 19:27

Having been royally shat on by the English government during this whole Covid debacle, I'm wondering whether it would be fucking fantastic if Sturgeon and her gang stampeded down to maybe the River Tees and just took the lot for Scotland's own.

Anyone still northern but further south than the River Tees who would campaign for them to move the border even further south?

OP posts:
willloman · 17/12/2020 23:53

Can we make our own kingdom from the invisible bits on the map - the real North, above Manchester, below Jedburgh kind of thing...?

Flaxmeadow · 18/12/2020 00:04

Rather an independent Yorkshire with Sean Bean as King

I'm in, but would unite the whole of the north under this rightful overlord. Would beat that soggy Lancashire hotpot Burnham any day. Yes?

Letmegoplease · 18/12/2020 00:04

No. What the north needs is our own parliament like Scotland and Wales has. I’m sick of the tories bossing us around when hardly any of us actually vote for them. Let us have our own parliament westminister knows nothing about the north.

Flaxmeadow · 18/12/2020 00:15

A kind of Council of the North?

SingingSands · 18/12/2020 00:18

@EatsFartsAndLeaves

Yes Leeds please!

No thanks. I moved to Leeds to get away from Scotland!

WitchWanderer · 18/12/2020 00:25

Cry Freedom!!! (might have the wrong film there IIH....)

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 18/12/2020 00:43

No thanks. I'm Scottish living in Scotland. As lovely as our neighbours are, 'taking over' other countries has caused enough problems since day dot. Leave alone!

TheWichitaWineOne · 18/12/2020 00:45

Fine with me, I've got close family in Scotland. We're too far South I think, but see how you go, yeah? Grin

Leannethom85 · 18/12/2020 00:51

There's Britain then there's London which is a other bloody planet altogether...
Boot London out of Britain and Britain would be a happier place to be
I'm scottish and I'd say no for Scots invading England... But I do think the rest of England needs to separate from London

Glitterblue · 18/12/2020 00:51

@splishsplashsploosh north Northumberland here too and feel the same!

PigletJohn · 18/12/2020 01:51

It's been tried before.

Never worked well.

Sorry.

Kokeshi123 · 18/12/2020 01:59

The schools aren't a pressure cooker because the kids aren't learning as much.

Don't even get me started on the creepy authoritarianism of the SNP.

ClaireP20 · 18/12/2020 02:01

You'd be better off invading Easr London OP, you wouldn't believe how many english people declare that they're actually scottish down here...because some distant relative was born there 100 years ago. We love a bit of Scotland!

Willow2017 · 18/12/2020 02:32

A leader that appears to value the lives of her constituents
The same person who.walked out of parliament with her deputy when the appaling rise in drug deaths came up for discussion after her turn in the spotlight ? She doesn't give a damm its all about her and her one track mind.

Ifailed · 18/12/2020 02:33

Great idea if you love paying extra tax. London is the only part of the UK that runs a fiscal surplus, it produces 1/4 of the UK's GDP whilst accounting for 15% of the population.

NiceGerbil · 18/12/2020 02:35

I'm in North London. So that's North right? Sounds good to me OP Grin

Sobeyondthehills · 18/12/2020 03:05

Personally, wait till they announce a vote on MPs payrises (or expenses) wait till the House of Commons is filled, then send it down the Thames being dragged by Whales and Dolphins the Queen has lent us.

Milkshake7489 · 18/12/2020 05:45

No thanks. I'd rather the North rise up and declare York as the capital again!

Nc135 · 18/12/2020 05:57

I really really do not understand why people think that the way the SNP and the awful sanctimonious NS has dragged Scotland down and focus on one thing and one thing only, is something to celebrate. She has her agenda and it is not the well being of the people of Scotland. And all the data on health, education, drugs and Covid back that up. She is smart in how she sells herself but scratch the surface and yuck. How Scots can keep voting for her is beyond a lot of people.

ConiferGate · 18/12/2020 06:17

But I do think the rest of England needs to separate from London

London would be delighted to, then you could all keep Boris and it could plough ahead with a government it actually voted for too, considering in 2019 41 seats went Labour and just 21 went Tory.

As for the Scots invading N England, there seems to be nothing but hatred for anything English coming out of Scotland so I’m not sure why they’d want to unless it was to shore up the disaster NS has inflicted upon the country (and neatly deflected by trolling Boris Johnson over Covid in the media). Everything bad in Scotland is blamed on WM, anything good that comes is claimed as their own. It’s so boring. And I’m a proud Scot living in the SE, I’d never move back with her in power.

Nc135 · 18/12/2020 06:20

and neatly deflected by trolling Boris Johnson over Covid in the media

Too true. And that just makes her even worse. She can’t work as a team at all. She simply can’t. She has to make a bloody point of doing minor things ever so slightly differently so she can then say how amazing she is. Despite her numbers being worse.

tinseltitsbumfannythelot · 18/12/2020 06:40

@CheeseIsMyVice

I’ll get absolutely annihilated for saying this, but I’m in Scotland and Nicola Sturgeon is absolutely panning this. Many think she’s a hero but she absolutely isn’t. Can’t be arsed pulling up all the statistics because I always it didn’t, but just take the latest example of drug deaths for one. Highest in the world. The SNP have halved their funding in over 29 years. Yet they can afford indyref2? Really?

Stay where you are OP because if independence comes I’ll be coming to join you Wink

Absolutely this. @CheeseIsMyVice there are some like minded folk posting on Scotsnet just now.

I have no issue with extending the Scottish border, however, the snp are incompetent for all the reasons listed above. And they are getting away with it because the opposition is so bloody ineffective.

RJnomore1 · 18/12/2020 06:44

I’m in Scotland tell you what, take weenic and the rest of them, call it a Christmas gift, and we can find an administration who actually want to govern the country.

Good luck and many thanks

Peppafrig · 18/12/2020 06:45

The SNP are a laughing stock and have ruined Scotland be careful what you wish for .

Allmyfavouritepeople · 18/12/2020 15:39

@Kokeshi123

Don't even get me started on the creepy authoritarianism of the SNP.

Honestly I'm in favour of children learning less if it means alleviating the mental health crisis. I'd much rather have happy healthy children with inquisitive minds than stressed out, anxiety ridden brain boxes.
