Just that. Am curious to see what MNers would do if offered.

YANBU - I WOULD have the vaccine.

YABU - I WOULD NOT have the vaccine.

Am 40. NHS worker. Healthy and low risk.

Yes I’d have it in a heartbeat.

Izzy24 · 19/12/2020 06:55

I was offered the vaccine yesterday - I’m a frontline worker with underlying health conditions.

Unfortunately I tested positive on Thursday.

I would have had the vaccination without a doubt.

coffeewithcream · 19/12/2020 07:20

Yes!!!

Did you have it?

RaggieDolls · 19/12/2020 09:02

Read the update that you had it. Good for you! I'm not even on the schedule at the moment but I'll definitely be having it.

Spoke to a nurse friend yesterday and she'd had it on Wednesday. I couldn't even bring myself to be the slightest bit envious. Healthcare workers should be at the feet top of the list IMO and I'm pleased that lots do seem to be getting access to it.

Biker47 · 19/12/2020 09:12

I won't be having it.

Echo08 · 19/12/2020 09:14

Nope

Idontcareboutthestateofmyhair · 19/12/2020 09:16

Have it! I can't wait to get mine

Echo08 · 19/12/2020 09:19

earnshaw47 why because I have a allergy to medication and I work in social care so I am one who is offered it but what happen if it makes me ill I can't do the job I love , pay my bills .All the people I am in contact will have it so me not having it won't make a difference only to me .So please stop with the everyone should have it when you don't know personal situations .

Echo08 · 19/12/2020 09:21

piesinmyeyes er you may want to read the human rights act .Some of us "Can't " have it some don't want it .Get a grip we live in a free society.

Echo08 · 19/12/2020 09:26

BlueSkies2020 I work with the vulnerable in society. I can't have it so for that reason I won't have it because I am not prepared to risk my own health I have a family too .Not all the vulnerable want the jab I may add. Your post is ridiculous, people are losing the plot over this.

oblada · 19/12/2020 09:29

It may be interesting to point out that there are many countries in Europe have made vaccines compulsory in some way i.e. usually through school. Like in France. Doesn't make them not a 'free country'. I don't want vaccines to be mandatory here tbh but just pointing out.

Also - the Oxford vaccine will be manufactured/distributed by Astra-Zenica - that will definitely be for profit, not fun. And there are always considerations such as future finances, reputation, publication etc in any research work. It's not black and white.

The fact that others are doing it doesn't make it right though

oblada · 19/12/2020 10:36

True but I find the 'our human rights!' 'our free society'! outright a bit exaggerated that's all. It can definitely be justified and can be discussed if appropriate. It wouldn't be mandatory in the way people would be held down and jabbed of cours but it could be made compulsory to access certain public services for instance.

user1472151176 · 19/12/2020 11:27

Yes I would but with a little hesitation.

sadblackcat · 19/12/2020 12:28

I know 2 people who have died from Covid. One of them in his 40s. Its definitely a no brainer for me. Soon as I can have it I will

Astra-Zenica are producing it not-for-profit while there is still officially a pandemic.

@trulydelicious I’m aware that anti vaxxers like you will skupper us getting out of this mess

I’m aware that the vaccines have gone through robust trails and are safe

I’m fully aware that people like you ARE selfish and will be putting vulnerable people at risk

And I also think anti vaxxers are nuts

BlueSkies2020 · 19/12/2020 12:41

@Echo08 are you going to let the vulnerable people you work with know that you’re refusing the vaccine? And their families. I’d want to know and I’d be insisting that you continue to wear PPE while the rest of us go back to normal if you were looking after my family.

My post isn’t ridiculous. Anti vaxxers are ridiculous

BlueSkies2020 · 19/12/2020 12:45

@Echo08 I just read your post explaining you can’t have the vaccine so ignore my post above! I’m talking about healthy people for whom there is no good reason to be refusing the vaccine.

M4J4 · 19/12/2020 12:47

I'm OK with not getting the vaccine. We already had COVID. We are part of a year long survey that pays £50/£30 per person in high st/supermarket vouchers every time they come and test us for COVID, the money is very handy. I'm guessing if we had the vaccine we wouldn't be able to be a part of it anymore.

Echo08 · 19/12/2020 12:52

Blueskies yes they are aware and the reason why and are fine with it .We are fully ppe'd up .For what it is worth i am not anti vaxx all my DC's had the controversial mmr because I have seen first hand the devasting effects of measles.

Izzy24 · 19/12/2020 13:49

I tested positive this week. I feel absolutely rubbish. I was offered the vaccine but couldn’t have it because I’d just tested positive.

When I am better I will still have the vaccine.

trulydelicious · 19/12/2020 16:53

@BlueSkies2020

I’m aware that anti vaxxers like you will skupper us getting out of this mess

I've received all childhood vaccinations
I'm up to date with my travel vaccines
I've had the flu vaccine
I've been vaccinated against yellow fever

Do you still think I'm an anti-vaxxer? Because I'm not

I'm just cautious about these new vaccines for which we do not have enough long term data

BlueSkies2020 · 19/12/2020 17:06

@trulydelicious fair enough... I’m just feeling at the end of my tether today. I had hoped the vaccine would get us back to normal, but it won’t if lots of people refuse it.

lynxca16 · 19/12/2020 17:09

Yes
