Just that. Am curious to see what MNers would do if offered.

YANBU - I WOULD have the vaccine.

YABU - I WOULD NOT have the vaccine.

Am 40. NHS worker. Healthy and low risk.

I have had to shield during both lockdowns, I am 4th in line for the vaccine. I normally avoid my annual flu jab just because I don't see the point in vaccines when I'm generally a very careful person anyway with hand washing etc. But I WILL be getting this one, I want my life back.

YouDidWHATNow · 17/12/2020 21:09

Scratch that, I NEED my life back. I have maybe hugged someone 10 times this year, all pre-march. I miss my friends, my work nights out, but most of all I miss my Grandad who is nearly 90. For him, I'd have this vaccine daily for life, just to be able to sit and have a cup of tea and do a crossword with him again whilst I can

ferretface · 17/12/2020 21:10

Can't wait to get mine!

SandAndFog · 17/12/2020 21:11

Cant wait!

WickyWackyWooWa · 17/12/2020 21:12

I had the vaccine this afternoon also as I work in front line healthcare and was absolutely overjoyed when I was offered the appointment.

tobee · 17/12/2020 21:13

Yes yes yes! And vaccine date calculator says I have to wait until June! SadHope that's pessimistic!

CathyorClaire · 17/12/2020 21:13

Yep.

80+ DM has turned hers down and I'd have hers in a heartbeat but hoping for a fairly quick call-up due to workplace anyway. Fingers crossed.

VinylDetective · 17/12/2020 21:20

Apparently I get mine by mid March. I wish it was sooner.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 17/12/2020 21:26

In your role I would
Nervously
But I would

yawnsvillex · 17/12/2020 21:28

@BlueSkies2020

I can’t understand why people are refusing the vaccine. In my opinion it’s your public duty to vaccinate yourself and not put other people’s health at risk. It’s selfish.

Imagine a hundred years ago if our poor ancestors had the chance of a vaccine for Spanish Flu. We are SO Lucky and people choose to not vaccinate.

Baffling.

How about for my own health too, or is other people's more important?

I can't have the vaccine ... for medical reasons, but should I then just for you?

Riv12345 · 17/12/2020 21:29

@WickyWackyWooWa

How do you feel after the jab?

Was you excited ?

I just need reassurance 😂😂

fluffi · 17/12/2020 21:29

Yes yes and yes. I want my life back! I want to go to the supermarket, restaurants and the office! Please!

Staffy1 · 17/12/2020 21:33

Yes, can't wait.

PetraRabbit · 17/12/2020 21:35

I commented above but having read the other comments (which are almost all saying they are desperate to receive the Pfizer vaccine), and having also listened to radio phone-ins and spoken to real life people, I would just remind the OP that the responses here are highly unrepresentative of the general population. If I'd read this thread now rather than earlier I wouldn't have bothered commenting and you'll find anyone who isn't keen will have seen how unanimous the debate was and skipped commenting. I assume this is pretty common on these kind of threads.

HayJkl · 17/12/2020 21:42

I think there are many people that need it more than I do so no, I'm going to hold off for now. I'm incredibly low risk and not worried about it.

WickyWackyWooWa · 17/12/2020 21:57

I feel absolutely fine, didn't even really feel the injection, just a small scratch.

Some of my coworkers had it yesterday and are reporting that the arm they had the injection in is aching a bit.

It was like a military operation with numerous rooms and people were being practically herded . Apparently they were aiming on seeing someone every 3 minutes in each of the consultation rooms. After this you were herded to a waiting area where you have to spend 15 minutes being observed in case of any reaction. It was then a case of being herded out the door the other side of the building.

There was just a continuous stream of people. There was even parking attendants asking for appointment times and herding card into appropriate areas of the car park.

It was amazing and I really can't wait for the Oxford one to be released as that will probably be an even bigger operation.

Hopefully there's finally light at the end of the tunnel and 2021 will be better.

crystal1983 · 17/12/2020 22:10

I will get it once it comes to my turn. I can’t wait

UghNotThisAgain36 · 17/12/2020 22:13

Yep!! Jab me up!

missymousey · 17/12/2020 22:18

Nope. I don't trust it.

WriteronaMission · 17/12/2020 23:02

I would just like to see the evidence first that it works & that there are no longer term impacts eg on fertility, pregnancy etc- which haven’t yet been tested.

This is the reason I'm not jumping at getting it.

It takes a couple of years to understand longer term effects and none of the COVID vaccines have had that time because of how trials were done.

I'm at the bottom of the list of being offered it anyway looking at all the info so I've got time anyway. I'll see how everyone else reacts and what any long term effects are and make a decision when income up, probably the middle of next year.

I'm not an anti vaxxer. I and my kids have all the ones we're supposed to. I was happy for DD2 to have the men-b vaccine and they both had the chicken pox vaccine. I just want to wait on the COVID one for now.

Yummymummy2020 · 17/12/2020 23:10

I wish I could get it right now, my sleeve is rolled up for as soon as it’s offered to me!!!

Riv12345 · 17/12/2020 23:13

@WriteronaMission

I agree I was saying the same a couple of weeks ago

But the hospital I work at is horrendous at the moment with covid and I get so anxious about catching it.

I put in for having it thinking I will hear after the news year etc
Then I heard straight away and I've got it Monday!!

But yes I did say what you're saying, but because of my situation I feel as if I better have it before I catch it.
Then I thought it has been tested on over 40.000 people so that reassured me

I think because it's so new it's natural to feel like this.

Riv12345 · 17/12/2020 23:15

What's the worse that could happen??

WriteronaMission · 18/12/2020 02:17

@Riv12345

If I worked in a hospital setting I might have another opinion. I work from home and, except for the school run and dog walks, I barely go out normally, let alone now. With my husband's work, there's little chance of him bringing it home or any of us passing it on. The kids are more likely to get it at school, and the vaccine isn't even for them yet.

If there was a bigger chance of me catching it and passing it on, I'd possibly rethink things. But the way things are, there are more people out there who need it and I'm more comfortable waiting to find out more about any potential long term effects first.

Aria999 · 18/12/2020 02:22

To people angsting about long term effects of the vaccine; the long term effects of covid appear fairly grim.
