To be MASSIVELY pissed off..........

that I lost 6 stone and now look similar to this?

Obviously I left it too late (nearly 50), after being fat for over 20 years, but I didn’t have the mindset to lose the weight until DC got older. It’s taken me almost 3 years (while also battling menopause and hypothyroidism) and because I mainly did it through exercise, it’s taken a lot of hard work!

I used to look so much younger when I was obese!

I am so fucking disappointed. Especially with my horrible turkey neck Angry.

I know INBU but thought I’d check anyway.

Congratulations on losing 6 stone, that's a massive achievement! You must have worked really hard.
Maybe have a look at wearing different styles of clothes such as turtle neck jumpers, long sleeves. At least you know that being slim, you will look great in clothes that you perhaps wouldn't have chosen before.

MatildaTheCat · 10/12/2020 10:55

I bet you look bloody fabulous dressed.

I’ve been around naked/ semi dressed women all my life both in my profession and using changing rooms at the gym. I can promise you that only the youngest, slimmest and luckiest look amazing when undressed.

Praise be for fantastic undergarments and a huge choice of clothes that flatter. And a hugely improved health outlook.

Well done you. You can sulk for 10 seconds. Smile

bridgetreilly · 10/12/2020 10:56

Your skin will catch up eventually. But your internal organs will be thanking you every single day.

JustLikeStitch · 10/12/2020 10:58

Wow 6 stone while battling menopause and hypothyroidism is blooming amazing and I hope to heck you’re extremely proud of yourself!!

Is it loose skin or is it muscles that haven’t quite tightened up properly? My stomach looks extremely loose and saggy despite exercise, but my stomach muscles aren’t going back together properly (unsure if there’s a proper term for that? Doctor said they’d been pulled too far apart and wouldn’t knit back together no matter what I did). I usually wear stomach control garments under my clothes, helps give me that bit of a confidence boost. When it comes to getting naked I’ve finally learned to accept my body will never be perfect but that’s ok too. I’m healthy and that’s what matters Flowers

BaublesToIt · 10/12/2020 11:23

I do a lot of weight training Stitch and the muscles are definitely there underneath all the loose skin! I also have the stomach issue (diastasis recti), 4 pregnancies including twins, with a c section, and I know it’ll never go back despite 300 crunches every other day!

It’s just so deflating (excuse the punGrin). Before I was struggling to hide rolls of flab, now it’s rolls of loose skin! My turkey neck seemed to have appeared literally overnight.

Lesson is to loose excess weight before you hit 40’sSad, I suppose.

I still have another 1 and a half stone to loose and I’m considering not bothering nowBiscuit!

All I can say is very well done for losing that amount of weight. It is something I need to do an it is a daunting prospect.

I'm sure you look good. Hopefully any very loose skin will adjust over time.

Giningit · 10/12/2020 11:31

First of all congratulations OP! That’s a fantastic achievement. Secondly 😂😂😂.

zenasfuck · 10/12/2020 11:36

You will be so much healthier for losing that weight. The years to come will be easier for you with much reduced risk of diabetics and heart problems/stroke

You are clearly fit and strong to be doing that amount of exercise

Maybe look into procedures to reduce the lose skin on your neck but honestly, I think you need to feel proud of the massive change you have made to your health

MatildaonaWaltzer · 10/12/2020 11:37

you're 6 stone lighter and you sound like you're a good laugh, so you're totally winning.

CrotchBurn · 10/12/2020 11:39

Fucking hell this has set me off on one

CrotchBurn · 10/12/2020 11:42

OP have you considered fillers? I usually go for 0.5mg and it does wonders for me. They offer an incredibly natural kind of "your skin but natural" effect these days, nothing obvious. I get my lips done too, take a look.

CockleburIck · 10/12/2020 11:43

I’m a fat 51 year old who’s just started losing weight, and this is my fear... especially the neck thing!
I said to DH “But losing weight will make me look older” his response was that extra weight is ageing, too!

Well done on your huge weight loss, OP, I bet you look fab. You’ll certainly be much healthier now

AllTheThingsHeSaid · 10/12/2020 11:46

It's not necessarily your age. I lost 4st in my late 20s after being overweight since I was in my early teens, and I look really awful naked. Far, far worse than I did when I was fat. I have never seen anyone with stretchmarks like mine (all these recent "real women" campaigns make me feel even worse!) and my turkey neck is awful. TBH, I was a lot happier when I was at the top end of a healthy BMI, and generally healthier too.

helloxhristmas · 10/12/2020 11:48

I've got the neck, I feel your pain. I'm considering surgery to pin it back.

olivesnutsandcheese · 10/12/2020 11:54

I have hypothyroidism and am peri menopausal - I need to know how you did it!!

billy1966 · 10/12/2020 12:16

The neck goes with age, even if you put cream on it every night like my grandmother told me to, 30 years ago.

Apparently botox is the secret of a good neck as you get older.

Jane Fonda does it, she looks incredible but said botox in the neck is painful....but clearly worth it.

It's not called "you can have your bum or your face" for nothing.😁

Well done OP

viques · 10/12/2020 12:16

losing weight will make me look older

If it’s a choice between looking older and living healthily for a long time or having the mourners at my funeral saying I died far too young I know which option I would take.

Meowchickameowmeow · 10/12/2020 12:16

If you're even half as adorable as that kitty then you look fabulous.

Hoppinggreen · 10/12/2020 12:17

Well done, that’s a real achievement
DH has lost over 2 stone on Keto in the last 4 months. It’s better for his health but I miss his lovely bum and his face is looking a bit gaunt and wrinkly
I do need to lose about 3 stone but I climb to the fact that the fat irons out the wrinkles

Hoppinggreen · 10/12/2020 12:17

Cling not climb

Lurkingforawhile · 10/12/2020 12:19

I can understand how frustrating that must be especially after all your hard work. If there any chance it will tighten up a bit? If not, as others say, a really good clinic could help. I'm just gearing myself up to make an appointment to have my eyes improved.

houseinthesnow · 10/12/2020 12:20

Your skin really will not catch up eventually, or at all. Best advice is sadly to put a little weight on, enough to give you the youthful face and not the gaunt look that is so ageing.

It is upsetting when you think you are going to look amazing after weight loss, and actually you look worse for it, it happens to so many of us - on the upside you can tuck into the christmas chocolates knowing they will only add to your youthful beauty - win/win Grin Wine

BrowncoatWaffles · 10/12/2020 12:21

Similar situation although I lost mine a few years earlier (I'm 42). I have very baggy skin round my tummy and arms. People have suggested collagen supplements (ie like vitamins) and drinking lots of water.

No clue if they work as I've only just started but I'm giving it a go!

Well done on the weight loss though, it's a massive achievement and in a covid-world you've done great stuff to keep healthy!

Franklyfrost · 10/12/2020 12:22

Ha ha. That’s me! If you want a scare, get naked and go on all fours. I do love being a grumpy melting bald cat. Meow.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 10/12/2020 12:23

I read somewhere taht it takes around a year for a skin to tighten back a bit. I am using collagen supplements and I've seen difference on my skin quite quickly.
If it comes to the worst there are highly rated plastic surgeries in Prague🙈
