I am off to the Maldives. It is awesome. I am going on a plane. Then when we come back we are off to Switzerland, skiing. I have missed the world. There is no reason for my post except I am excited!

I went to Maldives on my honeymoon. My DH (ex now) was very badly stung by a jellyfish. There was no medical help on the island and everyone was very uninterested in his agony and fear. Couldn’t pay me to go to there in a pandemic.

I’d be embarrassed to be announcing going on holidays at a time like this. Everybody needs to do their bit to stop the spread of the virus or it will take longer to go away. I’d love to be going abroad, but I cancelled all holidays and weekends away this year. The fact that you can be asymptomatic and still transmit the virus to others should be enough to put anyone off unnecessary foreign travel. Every country has their own problems and they don’t need oblivious holidaymakers adding to their case load.

Wow! Hope you don't spread it to the countries you are visiting. Shame they didn't close flights down there from the UK like they have in many other countries. Selfish.

And this is not a bitter post. I just think people should be staying put otherwise we are going to be living in this limbo for a very long time to come and losing loved ones.

It is really. The diving is good if that's your thing, it's not mine. The islands are beautiful and very luxurious but it's not an activity holiday. I've been fortunate to go once and wouldn't go again.

I’ve been on 5 this year. No embarrassment whatsoever. Also worked bloody hard frontline NHS during the worst of it so yes, during my annual leave I enjoyed it in the sun.
