I am so excited to be at the airport

I am off to the Maldives. It is awesome. I am going on a plane. Then when we come back we are off to Switzerland, skiing. I have missed the world.

There is no reason for my post except I am excited!

@Iamthedevilinthedetail this post is from early December. However, airports are not closed and flights are not blocked! Not sure where you are getting your information from there.

We normally go to Maldives at Christmas but felt it just wasn’t right this year. Like the intensive care doctor who posted you could test negative and be a carrier or god forbid you got sick there and then you’d have to charter a seaplane to male and I can’t say I’d want to be in male if I was very sick. If I had no kids maybe I’d consider it but with kids it’s just not worry the risk. I’m happy to hang tight and wait until next year. Also horribly boastful post to those who’ve had a really shit time. I’ve not found lockdown etc that hard as we are fortunate with money, health etc but I would never go bragging about

She was well kitted out in Ralph Lauren ski-gear, so well prepared, as travellers will be, for the freezer ride home to the UK.

Yeah, I had all that. The tickets, passports, going through security, the breakfast in the Lounge, looking through the shops, duty free, THEN I woke up....

Should no one post then just in case it upsets someone else After all, I've never been to the Maldives. Pretty boastful to say you can afford to go every year right? What about people who can't ever afford to go?

When I lived in Spain I met so many Brits who apparently loved travelling but despite living in Spain never learnt Spanish. I can't imagine how superficial their holiday experiences must be staying in resorts and making locals speak English. We only travel after one of us learns to speak the language so we can actually learn something and not just go somewhere to drink and party with a change of backdrop.

Ideally, we should all be taking fewer flights these days. I miss travel but my anxiety about the environment is bigger than my desire to globetrot.

To be fair this is a Zombie thread. A lot had changed since this thread was started I remember when, back in the day you could go into Kent and stand in a garden with yer flask of tea and shout at a distance to yer family. Ohhh those were the good ol' days!

Each to there own personal like to think I do my bit to ease the pandemic and people dying and minimise contact an travel

We all have different priorities in life obvoiusly people dying and a pandemic isn't as high on the poster list as a holiday .
