I am so excited to be at the airport

I am off to the Maldives. It is awesome. I am going on a plane. Then when we come back we are off to Switzerland, skiing. I have missed the world.

There is no reason for my post except I am excited!

Did y9u see the date of the original post

NeonBella · 21/12/2020 18:34

Ha! My bad. Totally missed that although the bulk of my post still stands.

XmasBelle · 21/12/2020 18:38

You were being unreasonable and frankly boastful

Enjoy your tier 4 Christmas Grin

LisaLee333 · 21/12/2020 18:52

@Iamsososoexcited

Hmm

@Gherkin14

Sorry but an nhs dr working in icu I find this really irresponsible. I assume you had a covid test prior to flying...and despite being negative you could still be a carrier. A carrier to somewhere with a much less efficient healthcare system than here...what about the local population? Perhaps it’s just a bit of jealously on my part after a long day in covid icu and having cancelled some special holidays this year voluntarily to help minimise the spread but also because getting leave right now is pretty impossible. My colleagues and I are at breaking point, we’ve had covid since February. People (including young and healthy) are still dying. Just stay at home
Well said from someone at the sharp end.
Iamthedevilinthedetail · 21/12/2020 18:55

I'm not a traveller, am not jealous in the least, and I feel strongly that you are being irresponsible, selfish and reckless with other people's health. I'm thinking you might even be from the south east, the hotbed of the new strain. Have your fun in the sun. I hope no one else has to pay for it.

Kaliorphic · 21/12/2020 19:03

This was posted on 5th Dec. The op clearly was allowed to travel then and plenty of people did. She wasn't breaking any rules.
I hope you had an amazing time op and you managed to get back ok.

Kaliorphic · 21/12/2020 19:04

What on earth is this supposed to mean? The new strain was barely mentioned when the op travelled.

xmasfairybuns · 21/12/2020 19:05

And I say that as someone who loves holidays ("travelling"?!)

A colleague of mine went on a cruise to the Arctic, she said she was like an explorer?
On a fucking cruise?!

Quaagars · 21/12/2020 19:10

I'm all for people doing things that they are still allowed to do, eg shopping, meeting up with people as the guidelines etc, but I never understand how we can jet off in and out of the country as usual on holiday when there's lockdowns.
Just what is the actual point in the tiers and the lockdowns if holidays are carrying on as normal?!
In and out of countries?
Renders it all utterly pointless!

@CoronaIsWatching

Well I went abroad this Summer. I don't believe there's any reason for your post apart from boasting.
Yes. I know there are plenty who would like to travel at the moment and cannot. It doesn't bother me because I dislike travel but I would think being a bit discreet about it is the best way (though I don't believe anyone should be jealous, that is such an ugly emotion and achieves nothing).
Quaagars · 21/12/2020 19:12

Just seen this after posting my post, still stands though - we'd literally come out of "lockdown" and were all in differing tiers of severity and restrictions.
But you can still go in and out of the country on holiday Confused
Either we're lockdowned/tiered or we're not.

Hylyma1234 · 21/12/2020 19:12

Hope you had a good holiday! Love the Maldives, never been but looks amazing ☀️🌊🍷

Kaliorphic · 21/12/2020 19:13

Why? It's a public forum.

lockeddownandcrazy · 21/12/2020 19:13

Have a fabulous time and enjoy it all :-)

Kaliorphic · 21/12/2020 19:16

Either we're lockdowned/tiered or we're not.

Well indeed. A question for Boris to answer. Although nothing he has done recently has been particularly logical. Either the virus is really dangerous or it isn't. I suspect a lock down now is rather convenient for Brexit as well. Kill two birds with one stone and all that. We certainly won't be coming out of this for quite a while.

CruCru · 21/12/2020 19:19

The OP is now probably skiing in Switzerland.

The thing is, the people in the Maldives really need the income. Those working in resorts live apart from their extended families and send money home.

Similarly, I think when people hear “skiing” they think rich, braying bastards. But the people who work in resorts need the income.

I hope the OP tipped the staff well.

Well, they'll have even less income if they have to close down due to covid infections won't they?
katy1213 · 21/12/2020 19:21

I hope you had a wonderful time. Ignore these miserable gits who think that everyone should everyone should wear a hair shirt as scratchy as theirs. I'm jealous - I wish I were there, too!

Nowstrong · 21/12/2020 19:23

I'm really jealous, except Maldives will never be my choice of holiday destination. So many other places to see... Enjoy!

The advice for both Tier 2 and Tier 3 on Dec 5th was to avoid travel as much as possible:

“ Where possible, you should stay local and avoid travelling outside your local area, meaning your village or town, or part of a city. People should continue to travel for reasons such as work, education, medical attention or if they have caring responsibilities.”

However, it was not illegal to travel within the country or internationally.

Janegrey333 · 21/12/2020 19:26

Did she return to tell all? No. Surprise...

CruCru · 21/12/2020 19:27

If she’s skiing now, she won’t be back yet.

Iamthedevilinthedetail · 21/12/2020 19:32

Not really sure where you are based, what with the airports being closed and flights blocked.
