Bought DH something for Christmas and he has just said he doesn't like them..

DH is somebody who is prone to feeling the cold and always comments that he's chilly. He often wears my leggings under his trousers as long johns and wears double layers because he feels the cold that much Grin

I bought him a lovely thick Ben Sherman dressing gown as one of his chrismas presents thinking it would go down well.

This evening he was complaining about being cold again and I tested the waters and said "have you ever thought of getting a dressing gown, me and the kids love ours"

He replied saying "nah, I don't like them and can't get on with them"

What do I do about that now? Blush

Would you give it to him anyway because I'm fairly sure he'd end up liking it if he gave it a chance, or would you return it?

Return it. You asked, he’s told you how he feels.

Stonecrop · 04/12/2020 19:13

Ooh this is a difficult one. If it was me I think I couldn’t resist showing it to him early and letting him decide but I’m really weak willed !

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 04/12/2020 19:14

Return.

PoodleMoth · 04/12/2020 19:16

I'd tell him, let him try it and send it back if he doesn't like it

ReallySpicyCurry · 04/12/2020 19:17

Give it to him.

My DH has done this about many things, from our pet cat, to hiking boots and pyjamas.

He now loves all these things, and is officially the cat's bitch

Exchange for mens thermals if he's prone to wearing your leggings.

Misandrylovescompany · 04/12/2020 19:17

Return it and buy him some merino thermals.

vanillandhoney · 04/12/2020 19:19

If he wears your leggings or likes double layers, why not get him some decent thermals?

Arnoldthecat · 04/12/2020 19:19

Is he always so grumpy? Maybe your trying too hard.

Sexnotgender · 04/12/2020 19:19

I’m just amazed your husband can wear your leggings! My husband would look hilarious in mine😂

Spied · 04/12/2020 19:20

Id tell him and ask him if he wanted to give it a go.

Bebo14 · 04/12/2020 19:23

I've kept the receipt and can return it within 28 days so I might give it to him for Xmas as planned but present the receipt too so he can decide whether he wants to take it back and get something else. I'll make it clear I won't be offended.

It makes no sense that he wouldn't like it when he spends his time indoors wrapped up in blankets and multiple layers. He's a funny man Confused

He's not grumpy he has no idea I've bought him one Smile

I suspected the reason he had never bought one himself was because he doesn't like spending on himself, he has never said he actively dislikes them Blush

Oh he does look hilarious but he hides them under his jeans/work trousers Grin

I’d give it to him. My answer is based on my husband not wanting to leave his comfort zone but usually once he’s lefty he comfort zone he enjoys it. I had the same with the purple jumper (which he lost and we immediately had to buy another), the dark jeans (that he only owns now) and the throw for the couch (which he often lies under and hogs).

LuckyAmy1986 · 04/12/2020 19:35

I would return it and get him a fleece onesie if hes that cold all the time. He might turn his nose up but I bet you he will love it pretty quickly!

doublehalo · 04/12/2020 19:35

@Misandrylovescompany

Return it and buy him some merino thermals.
This. Just been looking at merino base layers on ebay and there are some bargains for men.
ChocolateCherrybomb · 04/12/2020 19:38

Give it to him.

He is currently a deprived man.

He has nothing to shuffle about in when he is ill.

myhobbyisouting · 04/12/2020 19:39

I like blankets and layers. I do not like dressing gowns. They're so uncomfortable.

Send it back

HopeAndDriftWood · 04/12/2020 19:39

I’d return it. He doesn’t want one so he’s unlikely to give it a try.

I hate women’s dressing gowns. I only wear DHs, and that’s occasional. I find them weird Blush

2bazookas · 04/12/2020 19:39

It's your duty to give it to him; he just doesn't know what he's been missing.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 04/12/2020 19:39

Return it. If I said specifically I don't like something and then got it, I would be quite disappointed.

How about slanket😁

Boopear · 04/12/2020 19:41

On a slight tangent..Uniqlo sell thermal trousers if you need an alternative. They’re great!

Emeraldshamrock · 04/12/2020 19:41

He hasn't met the right gown yet.
If he loves comfort and warmth he'll love it.

Bluntness100 · 04/12/2020 19:42

I’d also return and buy him some thermals so he doesn’t need to wear your leggings.
