I think you will be mad....

But then i done all my present shopping online.... 55 presents sent by courier today!
As not seeing any of my family-

If i hadnt got them all already, i would personally wait till next week.
No way would i be going tomorrow

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 01/12/2020 18:08

Our village has a gift/card shop with stuff made in our county, so does the local small town, no chain stores in either, and I’m hoping to visit those to get some nice unique pressies I can’t get online, and I want to support them.

elastamum · 01/12/2020 18:11

Not tomorrow, but I am going to visit a few local independent gift and craft shops between now and Christmas. I think they really need supporting if they aren't going to go under

Whattheduck · 01/12/2020 18:11

I’ve managed to get everything online or used a couple of local independent shops that offer click and collect. The only other shopping I’ve done is food shopping which I do every Wednesday (my day off) so
I’ll be going early tomorrow morning to get it done but no plans to venture into town at all in the near future

Tenyearsgone · 01/12/2020 18:13

I've done loads online. I'm still going Christmas shopping though.

24hrpantypeople · 01/12/2020 18:17

No, it'll be crazy tomorrow! When shops reopened last time there were queues round the block for my local Primark.

There are a few things I need that I want to pick in person not buy online but I'll wait until next week and go early on a weekday.

Topseyt · 01/12/2020 18:17

I'm doing a lot of my Christmas shopping online, but I will still go out for a browse along the High Street locally.

I won't go tomorrow, but probably I a couple of weeks. Things will have settled down a bit by then and I will get some last minute bits and pieces for Christmas while I am there.

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2020 18:17

How fecking miserable life is becoming

True but you know, the pandemic hasn't gone away just yet. We've come this far, be a shame to be spreading it about in shops right now if you don't actually need to go.

fussychica · 01/12/2020 18:21

Not if I can help it. Shopping for food will no doubt be bad enough in the run up to Christmas. Queuing in the winter won't be pleasant, fortunately there haven't been queues of any note for a while.
I ordered a watch from a local jewellers and made sure I collected it before the shop is actually open as it's very popular so I know it will be heaving tomorrow.

Bedsheets4knickers · 01/12/2020 18:25

Wouldn't touch them for at least a week

WillSantaBeComingToTown · 01/12/2020 18:26

@AlwaysLatte

I'm not buying a single thing in person this year! I think the shops will be heaving...
You probably won't have a choice next year
Bramleyapples13 · 01/12/2020 18:29

It will be manic with all the people who have absolutely nothing better to do that go just to look at stuff with no intention of buying anything.

What a complete waste of time. Let people who haven't been able to do online shopping have room to go.

Callipygion · 01/12/2020 18:31

I’ve got a couple of things to return (bought on line). Stuff coming in Royal Mail hasn’t been coming through very quickly, in fact one I’m expecting hasn’t come at all, so I want to return to the shop to ensure it’s safe and I need my money back. I’m hoping to go later tomorrow to see but if it’s heaving I’ll come home and try another day!

MillyA · 01/12/2020 18:35

@Fairyliz

Can I put in a small request for people to pop into their local charity shop? I’m a volunteer for a small charity and they are on their knees financially. We also have some lovely sparkly dresses at a very reasonable price just in case you want to dress up over Christmas without spending a fortune.
I will be doing, infact charity shops are the only non essential shops I'm looking forward to reopening.

I was gutted after the last lockdown when my local charity shops didn't reopen for at least another month after everything else.

Love them Smile

I don't have anything better to do.

Exactly how I feel.
I've got to go to the bank and was going to go tomorrow. Now this thread has reminded me that shops are open I think I'll wait.

There's something quite ridiculous about being in a pandemic and people's first response to easing restrictions being to pour into shops for no other reason than they fancy a bit of a walk around and a browse.
I bet this group overlap with people who looking with their hands and not with their eyes, so feel the need to touch every bloody item in a shop.

maddiemookins16mum · 01/12/2020 18:40

@somethinginyoureyes

I don't actually need anything as all my Xmas shopping is done. It's just for a browse really
Here lies the problem.
Lovemusic33 · 01/12/2020 18:42

Can’t think of anything worse. Have finished my Christmas shopping so I don’t need to go, I don’t find queuing and dousing my hands in anti bac much fun. I shall be staying in waiting for my Etsy delivery and wrapping presents.

oneglassandpuzzled · 01/12/2020 18:43

I was going to browse our local bookshop tomorrow for something for my husband, a book bought on a whim, based on the cover and turning it over to read the blurb.

Think I’ll just browse Amazon again as MN shopping regulations preclude this.

justasking111 · 01/12/2020 18:43

When Wales re-opened the traffic was manic for a couple of days then settled down again as did the shops. I would wait.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/12/2020 18:44

I shall be going. Friend in Sweden has asked me to get something she can’t get there, and I’ll need to post it ASAP.

While I’m there I’ll also pick up a couple of extra-nice babygros for baby Gdd - the ones she has are mostly very faded pass-me-downs, some with the ghosts of dubious stains.
And some nice wrapping paper for Gdcs’ presents.

singme · 01/12/2020 18:47

In Scotland but really feel for all the small shops that had to close while supermarkets can sell the same stuff.

Trying to get some of my Xmas shopping from this list :

sofiaaaaaa · 01/12/2020 18:48

I think you’re a bit of a loser to visit shops tomorrow if you don’t intend to buy anything. If you’re just going for something to do, wait until things quieten down later in the week. Why contribute to shop queues or the possible spread of the disease if you don’t want to buy anything? Just keep it free for genuine customers.

Backbee · 01/12/2020 18:52

If browsing with no intention to buy anything then no, if you don't need anything in particular but have money you'd be happy to spend if you saw something worthwhile then yes.

ohtheholidays · 01/12/2020 18:52

Yes I am,I love Christmas and I still have alot of Christmas presents to buy.

I'm going to wrap up warm and stick an umbrella in my handbag and I'm going to grab myself a large coffee on the way so if the queues are bad at least I'll have a nice hot drink to keep me warm.
