Zero Inheritance - Advice

CunnyLingus · 29/11/2020 00:35

I know inheritances rarely get discussed on Mumsnet so apologies if this is not something that I should be asking really.

I am not going to inherit anything. I also have nobody to leave what I have to. Charities do not bear inheritance tax. If I leave anything they will be lucky, but chances are I am going to spend the lot before I pop.

Can I ask for your 'zero inheritance advice' please on my non-predicament. I would really like to know how to be fair to nobody.

I really don’t understand what you are asking?

FortunesFave · 29/11/2020 00:45

Well OP it depends how much you have....you obviously need enough to live on yourself...but if you're wealthy, why not help some charities out? Food banks? Children's charities? But do it now...not when you're gone?

GarlicSoup · 29/11/2020 00:45

Can you do a Daily Mail ‘Sad face’ to complement your ‘non-predicament’ OP 😟Grin

I think your all missing the ‘ironic’ point 😂

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/11/2020 00:47

Well for the past week there had been 5 or more posts on this subject.

CunnyLingus · 29/11/2020 00:47

Trouble is you don't know how long you have! Blow it all on a round the world trip - then live for another five years!

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/11/2020 00:49

I know I will not get much as they are helping me more when they are alive.

Absolutely there hasn’t been enough lately Hmm
Thewithesarehere · 29/11/2020 00:51

You stole my idea by starting this thread OP. Angry
I am the aggrieved party here. You should leave the lot to me.

CunnyLingus · 29/11/2020 00:51

That would make it worse @Pipandmum

I would have even less of nothing and nobody to leave nothing to. It's OK for toffs like Rees-Mogg and Gove and....that bloke with the big ears, but nobody is going to have a fall out over my estate. One rule for them and another rule for the likes of me.

Can you get married, OP? Preferably to someone who already has a complex inheritance situation? Then you can see a solicitor and get a trust drawn up to benefit nobody at all?

Thewithesarehere · 29/11/2020 00:55

We need a family tree OP!

CunnyLingus · 29/11/2020 00:55

That's a great idea - a Bare Trust.

I will settle a tin of chick peas on trust when I go.

My kids will get nothing as I have nothing.

ViciousJackdaw · 29/11/2020 01:00

How about leaving the lot to the Bob Dylan fan club? Perhaps it could go to your local Civic Society to pay for parent and child parking spaces in the town centre. One more idea would be to leave it to the Bolleaux Institute to fund research into the size of Universal Credit claimants televisions.

ViciousJackdaw · 29/11/2020 01:00

Your legacy will ensure the MNers of the future will have much to froth over.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 29/11/2020 01:04

If there is anything to leave, leave it to the government. Then they can pay tax on their tax.

Anordinarymum · 29/11/2020 01:04

If I were single and alone in the world I would not buy a house. I would make a will out purely for the disposal of my earthly remains, and to hell with the rest. Actually no - I would leave anything left to fluffy animals

ClareBlue · 29/11/2020 01:15

Leave it to the 🐐 you know it makes sense

CunnyLingus · 29/11/2020 01:18

Great idea. Hit them with their own petard.

I don't know why MNers get so upset about inheritance threads.

Oh, wait, yes I do.

Musicalmistress · 29/11/2020 01:33

You're being so unfair OP, think of your poor nobody's!
