It makes me so angry that people are protesting about lockdown... yes its frustrating but it's being done for a reason... to try and prevent as many deaths as there would be without a lockdown... they are selfishly spreading covid and yhe police have to put themselves out there and risk their lifes to stop the gatherings! 😠 What do they think will happen!? That government will say ok- ok you win... go wild, have fun and mingle lets just forget covid now!?.....Does this make anybody else absolutely fuming at the human race!!!?

@Tolleshunt

The govt have had 9 months to increase capacity of the NHS to cope with the increase. Instead of doing this, they’ve chosen to spend stupid amounts of money paying businesses not to open and people not to work and put the population under house arrest. I’ll be joining them and lobbing my MP to vote against this latest round of insanity

Yes, why have we not increased capacity in the NHS in that time?

Because it takes a hell of a lot longer than 9 months to train more doctors and nurses.

There are two elements to capacity - physical resources like beds that we do have more of in the Nightingales and people resources which we don’t have enough of, hence why the Nightingales are lying empty

VaTeLaverLesMains · 29/11/2020 03:19

I'm in hospital just now as an emergency and so glad to have a bed and the care I'm getting for my non covid illness.

The staff are amazing. It's tier 3 and the idea that if the hospital had been fuller would mean I couldn't haven been seen and saved is terrifying-I've seen how upset my family is especially dh, the dcs and dm.

Even when I do get out I'll be clinically extremely vulnerable and worried that if I need hospital again I might not get in especially during the post Christmas surge.

Any one of you could be me any time-you are only a few symptoms and blood tests or scans away from it. You don't believe it til it happens.

The day before I was admitted someone who didn't know said I was looking well. It's not all about covid. It's about families not being bereaved.

VaTeLaverLesMains · 29/11/2020 03:21

No sympathy required by the way, I'm just trying to say it's real people, real beds, real death we're talking about here.

GurpsAgain · 29/11/2020 03:26

Well said, VaTeLaverLesMains.

The problem is that if we’d been allowed to continue as usual, these same people would’ve been blaming it on the government when death tolls rose. Rather than the ‘lockdown government control conspiracy’ it would’ve been ‘government population control conspiracy’. 🤷🏻‍♂️

PolkadotGiraffe · 29/11/2020 03:28

@BloggersBlog

Ruddy idiots. Look at other countries that have stuck to the rule like NZ and how low their deaths are in proportion.

Pathetic and an embarrassment that people in the UK just cant be told.

But I mainly feel sorry for the policemen and women who have to deal with these jerks

This wasn't because they "stuck to the rule" (sic) it was because they had a competent Government who shut borders early, and implemented strict testing and quarantine and tracing procedures at the start before the virus became endemic. This meant ongoing lockdowns were not required. Hence why many of us asked the Govt to close our borders and implement normal public health protocols for a virus outbreak back in Jan. We are in this mess because they didn't. Not because of the public.
GurpsAgain · 29/11/2020 03:28

Quite a few of our drivers have had it and several are off isolating due to family members with confirmed cases. Yet we have several morons who still think it’s not real and just a conspiracy.

oakleaffy · 29/11/2020 03:29

Govt have ground the NHS into the ground, literally by chronic underfunding, and it is because of the NHS 'not being able to cope' we are suffering so badly by being trapped as we are, the economy going to shit.

VaTeLaverLesMains · 29/11/2020 03:31

Gurp I'm imagining you as a royal with multiple 'drivers' now. Imagine one behind several chauffeurs down! Hope the Bentley doesn't pack up too. It never rains but it pours...

But scientists believe it was mostly spread by people talking in social environments and super spreader events. That can’t happen with people following strict lockdown.

VaTeLaverLesMains · 29/11/2020 03:32

Not behind, being ffs. Am tired but can't sleep Blush

If only... 😂

PolkadotGiraffe · 29/11/2020 03:33

No wonder the government wants a crack down on dangerous fake news online. It's highly irresponsible.

Funniest post of the day, for sure.

The same Government who has presented fake Covid data in press briefings, lied about the activities of its advisors, lied about Brexit and NHS funding, given contracts to its mates etc etc.

They wouldn't have made it into office with out fake news, it's their bread and butter!

Womencanlift · 29/11/2020 03:37

Sending you best wishes @VaTeLaverLesMains

But there is now a vaccine which will be rolled out so eventually, hopefully things will settle and there will be an end in sight.. can't they just wait until then..like i daid the goverment aren't going to let them 'win' anything[/quote]
Yeah sure, people who have lost their income and will likely lose their homes soon too, can just "wait until then".

Between August and September most infections where happening within a person's household.
VaTeLaverLesMains · 29/11/2020 03:40

Women Thanks

GurpsAgain · 29/11/2020 03:40

It’s almost like some people want this virus to hang around for as long as possible....

VaTeLaverLesMains · 29/11/2020 03:42

Gurps Yes, maybe they have a Secret Agenda that only They know about Hmm.

VaTeLaverLesMains · 29/11/2020 03:43

Damn forgot to do that in caps lock.

GurpsAgain · 29/11/2020 03:43

So the virus magically appears in the living room? Not that people come back from the pub and give it to their whole family?

yawnsvillex · 29/11/2020 03:44

Nope! Thankfully for once it's actually being reported.

There is a protest each weekend, just strange how it's not being reported.

Good for them. I haven't had the time to join them as yet.

GurpsAgain · 29/11/2020 03:46

Yes, maybe they have a Secret Agenda that only They know about hmm.

I think the select few already have a vaccine and are trying to get the rest of us to catch covid so they can stage a coup. The protests are a tactic to try and counter the lockdown which is ruining their plans by stifling the transmission.

VaTeLaverLesMains · 29/11/2020 03:50

Gurps it's people drinking Brewin their living rooms in bubbles spreading it. It's not called the china virus for nothing you know.
You can't catch it in pubs, cos you know, they use glasses not china. Seen it on Fb hun Wink

NiceGerbil · 29/11/2020 03:52

The fundamental question is, as a nation do we believe in the right to peaceful protest or not?

It's one of the underpinnings of democracy.

I have read that the govt have banned peaceful protest but having trouble finding links.

Bottom line is if they're banned they're banned and whatever the protest is the police can take whatever action to stop it. That generally doesn't work out well.

MarieG10 · 29/11/2020 03:53

It isn't just about lockdown, it is how lockdown has once again happened without any real scrutiny by Parliament and by our ministerial diktat.

Parliament previously considered such an event such as a pandemic, along with other emergencies and passed the Civil Contingencies Act. Recognising that restricting personal liberties was such a serious and fundamental breach of rights held by by citizens for over a thousand years, provided that parliament would consider the matter every 14 days for what was a state of emergency.

This government has utterly ridden roughshod over all of this and used the Health Protection Regulations to bypass all of these provisions and once again using them to impose further lockdowns after utterly deceiving the English public that lockdown would end on 2.12.20, except for most of the country it doesn't.

So it continues to perpetuate the ruination of our economy and the conservative Mp that was grandstanding last week about a protester getting arrested, forgot that his government passed the law restricting even protests...a right that has been enshrined for hundreds of years.

As someone who voted Conservative at the last election (no real alternative to that awful anti semite idiot)..we are led by a buffoon that has no real strategy and is flailing about with no real idea what to do and makes u turn after u turn
