I hugged a number of people today. Masks worn by me and those I hugged. I feel so guilty.

Did you know them or was it a random attack Grin

regretful2 · 24/11/2020 22:32

I knew them Grin

I honestly feel guilty. Probably anxiety.
We are in such strange times.

Why? Have you been reckless throughout this pandemic? Have they? If no, enjoy the human contact. I hugged my sister at the weekend and we didn't let go for about 10 minutes. I have my DH and my DD but she lives alone and sometimes you just need a hug.

Twistered · 24/11/2020 22:33

Hugs release good loving hormones. You sound like you needed a good hug x

PinkPlantCase · 24/11/2020 22:36

I hugged my brother when he appeared on my doorstep crying.

I also hugged my grandma when my grandad went into intensive care and we didn’t know if he’d last the night (non covid related).

I think sometimes hugs need to come first.

"I think sometimes hugs need to come first."

Meh! You're only human OP.

But if you've ever so much as sniffed Mumsnet before (particularly AIBU), you'll know you're in for a kicking.

Hugs are in for christmas.

ComDummings · 24/11/2020 22:43

We all need hugs

chubbycheeks26 · 24/11/2020 22:44

World's gone mad. As if people actually feel guilty for giving someone a hug.

Bloody hell not even allowed to human anymore. We'll all be robots by the time time this is 'over'

DisgruntledPelican · 24/11/2020 22:45

I hugged someone last week too, it was excellent.

FusionChefGeoff · 24/11/2020 22:46

The hug I gave my mum and Dad in the summer when it all felt a bit safer is something I will treasure for the rest of my life. We've mostly avoided it since then again but there was so much love in that 10 minutes.

purpleme12 · 24/11/2020 22:46

I wish I had someone to hug

vodkaredbullgirl · 24/11/2020 22:48

Hugged a few residents, I care for at work.

Twistered · 24/11/2020 22:49

@purpleme12 well here's a virtual big bear hug for ya coming all the way down the internet, warming up your heart x

Cuppaand2biscuits · 24/11/2020 22:50

A colleague at work lost her mum (not to Covid) and several people asked if they could give her a hug, which she accepted.
Sometimes you have get to show humanity.

ParkheadParadise · 24/11/2020 22:50

I put my arm around a stranger last week.
In the cemetery tending to dd's grave, I became aware of an elderly man standing at a new grave crying. He was 90 and his wife had died 3 weeks ago. I felt so sorry for him, he was so upset I even offered him a lift home.
Sometimes we all need a cuddle.

SpillingTheTea · 24/11/2020 22:56

Meh, you were wearing masks don't feel guilty.

I'm in the minority when I say this but I don't enjoy hugs unless from DS.
I don't like to be touched and feel my self stiffen up when I meet a hugger! Grin

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/11/2020 22:57

I’ve hugged my friend a couple of times - it’s just a habit, goodbye, big hug. We’re both still alive. Other than that it’s just been my DP since March, which seems so weird now I see it written down.

That was really lovely of you 🌷

I'd love a hug at the mo. This second lockdown feels worse than the first for me. It's dark. I don't know how long it's going to go on.

Why are you feeling guilty? Risk to them? Risk to someone else you're in contact with? Breaking the rules?...??

What was the reason for the hugging?
