To think that I can can’t be the only woman that has a huge stock of unused body moisturiser?

I get through face moisturiser in a flash, smelly bath shite gets used, even the dodgy shower gels get their turn but I seem to have a massive backlog of moisturiser ranging from Ballis and Harding up to Jo Malone and none of it gets used.

I love it, I use it after every shower, otherwise I feel like a crisp. I go through gallons of the stuff and ironically, I never get given it.

Stripesnomore · 24/11/2020 21:51

I have always believed that one day I am going to become the kind of person who uses body lotion.

And I will probably die still believing that.

Stripesnomore · 24/11/2020 21:52

I also didn’t realise that you were supposed to use it with k cloths. That is probably why when I have used k cloths literally nothing has happened.

cactusdog · 24/11/2020 21:54

Yes! Or I mean no you aren't unreasonable! I have so many and dreading getting more (mainly from IL's).
Who even uses it!!!

MoonBaby1 · 24/11/2020 21:58

I wish I had the self care and time to do it. I’m usually brushing my teeth and my toddlers whilst I drip dry, hairdry my work top and shout at my older son to get his school uniform on. I don’t think my life allows moisturiser!

Yugi · 24/11/2020 21:59

If they’re unopened you can donate to a local women’s shelter

Scarby9 · 24/11/2020 21:59

One of my greatest pleasures when I used to have to stay away overnight on my own in a hotel or travel lodge type place for work is having a shower or relaxing bath, putting on body lotion and then pottering around in the warm (I always find hotels much warmer than my house) or lying on a towel on the bed watching TV and eating free biscuits until the moisturizer has soaked in.
I never have either the time or the inclination to do that at home. You are right, OP.

TwoMuchTwoYoung · 24/11/2020 22:00

In use them as hand cream as a previous poster said.
Alway have one next to my bed and feel very happy when I've used one up.

MoonBaby1 · 24/11/2020 22:00

That’s a great idea Yugi. I’ve even got the posh Clarins ones sealed with foil! Very COVID safe!

I absolutely cake my face and body in lotion day and night. My skin is dry as fuck and my body just drinks it in. Send it all my way 🙋🏻‍♀️

MustDust · 24/11/2020 22:01

@Yugi that's precisely where mine have gone in the past, I need to look for some details.

MrsWicket · 24/11/2020 22:01

Check out toiletriesamnesty.org
They take unused toiletries etc and distribute them to shelters, charities

I guess that is the difference - I am older than you, so my children are grown up and my skin is a lot drier. I probably didn't use it either when my kids were wee.
Pinkflipflop85 · 24/11/2020 22:04

I have a drawer full of bloody body lotions and moisturisers from various sets I have been given. The hoarder in me keeps them because they haven't been used and it would be wasteful to get rid. But I don't use them and the fact they are there pisses me off.

MoonBaby1 · 24/11/2020 22:04

I’m looking forward to the days of self care headnorth . These are wonderful days with little ones but there’s so much to look forward to as well

I go through a bottle of body lotion a month. I was always Aveeno or Dove but recently discovered the Aldi 89p stuff which is extremely similar to aforementioned. Whack it on every day after showering. Skin as soft as a baby’s.

Roussette · 24/11/2020 22:06

Who uses it?

Me!
I use buckets of the stuff and I like really nice moisturisers, I stock up at TK Maxx with more pricey stuff reduced.

I always have about 3 on the go at any one time. I prefer tubs to tubes as you waste so much in a tube. I have some fab smelling ones... molton brown, loccitane, Neal's Yard, Clarins, Cowshed, Ren... love 'em all !

If I don't put it on, my skin feels really tight and uncomfortable. A day doesn't go by when I don't moisturise top to toe, and I have to say, I am in my sixties and I have very good skin on my body shame about the face Grin

Miip · 24/11/2020 22:10

I hate it. I don't know a single person who actually uses it.

It's cold.

LindaEllen · 24/11/2020 22:12

I have loads of it. I absolutely love shower gels and nice shampoos, so I get lots of those kinds of gift sets for Christmas. They all seem to come with moisturiser, and while I do put some on my legs after I've shaved them that's all, so they accumulate much faster than I can actually use them.

I don't know if charity shops accept things like that, but I think it might be time to have a bit of a look through my stash.

(If anyone on here needs moisturiser, HMU haha).

Roussette · 24/11/2020 22:14

Cold?! I have a hot shower or bath and my skin is hot, so the lotion isn't cold 🤣
I don't know anyone who doesn't use it ... (DH doesn't but as far as females, everyone I know does including my DCs)

ChocBeforeCock · 24/11/2020 22:14

Well this has been enlightening! I love body lotion, cannot shower without using it afterwards and had no idea this was rare.

Sh05 · 24/11/2020 22:17

I have loads as well. They always tend to be the biggest bottle in a set. I send them in to school for the tombola normally at Christmas and summer fayre time. Don't think that'll be happening this year though

Othering · 24/11/2020 22:18

@FredtheFerret

I don't know anyone who uses it!

It tends to come in a gift set and I look at it doubtfully and put it in a basket in the bathroom. I mean...I've seen adverts were women get out a shower and slather cream all over themselves but I didn't realise people in real life did this!

Do you bath, towel dry, then grease yourself up again?

No, I slap it on wet skin and put a dressing gown over the top until I'm all dry. Can't be arsed doing it any other way. It's on pain of death that I do this aswell, as I loathe and detest putting body cream on.
TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 24/11/2020 22:19

It makes me sticky for ages. I wear it very very rarely, and only if I’ve got bare legs.

Do men wear it? No. Does their skin dry up in horror? No.

In lockdown I stopped moisturising my face. Suddenly I had no need to wear foundation and powder to cover greasy skin. My skin is clearer than it’s ever been. I may regret this at 60 but right now it’s bliss.
