To think that I can can’t be the only woman that has a huge stock of unused body moisturiser?

I get through face moisturiser in a flash, smelly bath shite gets used, even the dodgy shower gels get their turn but I seem to have a massive backlog of moisturiser ranging from Ballis and Harding up to Jo Malone and none of it gets used.

@FredtheFerret

I don't know anyone who uses it!

It tends to come in a gift set and I look at it doubtfully and put it in a basket in the bathroom. I mean...I've seen adverts were women get out a shower and slather cream all over themselves but I didn't realise people in real life did this!

Do you bath, towel dry, then grease yourself up again?

Hardly greasing yourself up again is it? Unless you'd also count facial moisturiser as greasing up your face.

I towel dry, moisturise and then get dressed (usually into PJs). Takes seconds, very easy thing to do.

GlamourSpider · 24/11/2020 21:10

I never use it and constantly give it anyway to anyone who does.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 24/11/2020 21:11

I use it! If I don't I get dry skin on my elbows and shins, a slightly itchy back, and a rough texture at the top back of my legs. One minute slapping on body moisturiser eliminates all these problems.

Fucket · 24/11/2020 21:16

I don’t know why people rub that cheap, perfumed body lotion all over themselves. Just read the list of ingredients you need a chemistry degree to understand it all. If you’ve got very dry skin, you need something non-perfumed and designed to improve your skin, and isn’t often bought as gifts. The stuff that gets put into gift sets at Christmas for supermarkets and boots etc has absolutely no benefit to your skin whatsoever.

MustDust · 24/11/2020 21:17

Same here, lots of lovely expensive ones, never ever get used.

MajesticWhine · 24/11/2020 21:18

I don't use it unless it's a really lovely one. I can't even give them away or to charity. I have usually had a little try and so they are 9/10 full.

Newnamenewopenme · 24/11/2020 21:20

Leave it in the shower and put it on before you get dry! Give it a minute and then towel dab yourself dry

luckylavender · 24/11/2020 21:26

I use it every day, never have too much. But the Lidl 99p one is great. And huge!

Downunderduchess · 24/11/2020 21:28

I use it! I keep them dotted around the house. One in the kitchen, one on my desk (WFH), one in my bedroom. I use them as hand cream also, it’s the same thing. I have put some on this morning, I have been using it in place of perfume. I’m currently using a Jo Malone one.

TheMandalorian · 24/11/2020 21:28

I only use one brand which works for my skin without bringing me out in spots. A bottle lasts me over 6months and counting.
I get sent dove toiletry sets or baylis and harding and they go straight to charity shop. Its never the nice original dove smell either its always some horrid christmas scent.

VinylDetective · 24/11/2020 21:29

I’ve got a drawerful. Must take it to the charity shop when they open again.

jambeforeclottedcream · 24/11/2020 21:29

Yes the ones you get at Christmas in a little gift set with some body wash which I also don't use.

When it comes to body lotion I know what I like and I stick to it. Although it is handy in emergencies or something

AuntieMarys · 24/11/2020 21:31

I use it daily, but only like Aveeno. I am never bought gift sets of toiletries, probably because I've made it clear I hate them!

RoseMartha · 24/11/2020 21:31

I have about five tubs and bottles. Each one usually lasts a year. If my skin is particularly dry I will use it. But don't bother everyday.

JimmyTheBrave · 24/11/2020 21:33

I buy Aveeno body moisturiser and then used to store the stuff that inevitably I received as gifts 'just in case.' A few months back I gave it all away to my 12 yr old niece. Much prefer just having my Aveeno!

If I'm bought it again in future I'll chazza shop it/give to niece straight away.

Notajogger · 24/11/2020 21:36

It's so annoying that there always seems to be a huge bottle of the stuff in every gift set - the rest of it I will use up (eventually, after a couple of years or more!) but the moisturiser just seems like too much faff!

itssquidstella · 24/11/2020 21:37

I love it; I'll take any you've got going spare!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/11/2020 21:41

I used to, but then I read on Mumsnet about Korean cloths and now I use it all up in the shower with a K cloth. The cheaper the better!

SenorFrog · 24/11/2020 21:44

From my teens to my late 40's I moisturised from top to toe every day, usually E45 body lotion but I'd be happy to use anything so long as it wasn't too perfumed. I then suddenly became allergic to it. I have loads of the stuff backed up now.

ChaToilLeam · 24/11/2020 21:44

It takes me AGES to get through the stuff, I have oily skin so don’t need a lot of moisturizing. Stuff goes off before I get round to using it!

Blahblahface · 24/11/2020 21:45

Please tell me more about Korean cloths Hmm
AfterSchoolWorry · 24/11/2020 21:47

It's cold and clammy. I don't like it.

cptartapp · 24/11/2020 21:47

I never use it. Ever. It goes in the Secret Santa.

Blahblahface · 24/11/2020 21:49

I have brands and lotions that I like. I always get bought ones I don't like though! The worst was when I was pregnant and i was gifted loads of that awful Palmers Cocco butter stuff.

PeacefulInTheDeep · 24/11/2020 21:50

I have found my people! I've got tons of the bloody stuff here, I just don't have the time or inclination to use it.

Might do as a PP has mentioned and try it as hand cream though, my hands are dry and rough at this time of year anyway without all the extra washing and sanitising we're doing at the moment.
