Aaagr.

It started with buffalo cauliflower wings😔
There are no wings on cauli! It doesn't remotely taste like wings either! It's BUFFALO CAULIFLOWER BITES. (Which are really nice btw)

Then the Jackfruit Pulled Pork.
No. There is NO pork.
It's "pulled jackfruit" if anything. Liers.

And to top it off... Chickpe tuna. The hell, people😔 The hell... It hasn't even passed tuna anywhere in its existence.
It's CHICKPEA spread or something. No tuna. Bad people.

Liessssss. Why can't food be just called what it is🤦 There is just no need for all them liessssssssss.

Hmmm but the rule doesn't hold for burgers - you can have chicken burger, beef burger, mushroom burger. Is it the patty shape that makes it a burger or the fact that some sort of mince is involved?

Yeah. I think we agreed (most) that burgers are fine as long as it's specified like with any patty it normally is. Wendy's isn't a burger because it's square😁 Sausage would be the same. It always says what's in it and it's a shape rather than an exact same ingredients in all.

Wow. It is not that serious...

Surely they are named that way to help identify what sort of flavour they are/what type of thing they are replicating?

Absolutely this...

lovepickledlimes · 23/11/2020 17:04

@TicTacTwo to make it clear to the buyer who has never had quorn that this is not just nuggets made of quorn but will taste identical or close to chicken.

DuesToTheDirt · 23/11/2020 17:14

Well Lorne sausage is square...

SchrodingersImmigrant · 23/11/2020 17:21

I googled Lorne sausage and what's in. Apologies to anyone Scottish here but that's what I know as meatloaf🙈

I do this thing called thinking, which helps me to understand that as it says 'vegan' on it, it is going to be a non meat product designed to taste and be similar in texture to an actual chicken fillet. I am not one of the people who needs advice of the "may contains nuts" on packets of nuts, products, though, so maybe I am over estimating the degree to which everyone else is able to work that out without a mini breakdown.

Banana bread. It’s a bloody cake, as are American muffins.

Now you see I do this thing called critical thinking, which helps me to understand that as it says 'vegan' on it, it is going to be a non meat product marketed to taste and be similar in texture to an actual chicken fillet. And I also do this thing called learning from experience which helps me understand that there is no correlation between a vegan product having a chicken-based name and the food itself having either of those properties.

I don’t mind veggies or veggie food, I’m married to a veggie. But the whole nu vegan chicken/burger/mac n cheese thing is an insta-driven triumph of visuals over reality. Why bother? It’s not chicken, it doesn’t taste like chicken, and while it might encourage someone to try it the first time, what’s the benefit if it’s just going to disappoint? Called it Southern Fried Vegan Chewin’ or something.

Once I ordered a salad in a restaurant and in the description amongst the list of ingredients it said ‘cauliflower cous cous’ - well you can see where this is going. I was so pissed off when my salad came with ZERO CARBS in it that I demanded they bring me a side of actual cous cous and they said that they had no cous cous in the kitchen. WTAF?

So they listed the ingredients and you were annoyed when they gave you a salad with those ingredients?

Well... they didn’t did they, they didn’t give me any actual cous cous! This is what happens I suppose when you don’t check for commas!

Exactly. I'd think cauliflower cous cous meant something resembling cous cous made from caulis. Which are, btw, carbs.

I can’t imagine there are many carbs in cauliflower. Not enough to keep you going. I was hoping for the grains to fill me up. Not everyone that orders a salad is on a diet!

They probably identify as chicken or whatever. Not lies then.
