I got deleted from a Facebook group about stupid things men say for commenting that this was an overly large portion, is it not?

(They all post photos of their meals).

So glad that I'm old enough to find this hilarious, actually posting pictures of nondescript meals on social media!! They probably complain too about how stressful life is and how busy they are!

MrsMariaReynolds · 22/11/2020 13:17

Mind your own business, perhaps?

AdobeWanKenobi · 22/11/2020 13:18

Have you actually read my posts, all you have to do is click see all

Have you read mine? Where did I say I was referring to you and your posts specifically?

Eckhart · 22/11/2020 13:18

@liveitwell

I have numerous in the family and they eat normal portions sizes that aren't this large

Maybe some people work harder than they do? Or is that simply not possible? I'm afraid your family isn't the measure by which calorie consumption is measured. You are wrong about athletes and carbs, and are clearly prone to generalising. Some athletes would eat this, some wouldn't.

There is no such thing as a 'normal' portion size. Averages are given as recommendations, but nobody is the average person (not even your superlatively normal family), so they have to be calculated per individual according to their requirements.

You don't know the average cyclist or gym goer. Nobody does. Why do you think you know what they should be eating, right down to the balance of macros?

Eckhart · 22/11/2020 13:19

OP, in what way do you think that groups like that are helping the feminist cause?

It’s only that you referred to this as a competitive undereating thread and that was never my intention.

You’d have to check it out for yourself.

No answer of your own, then. Thought not.

But I can’t decide for you, it’s something that needs context and you need to look for yourself, men are on the page too, it’s not just slagging men off for being men it’s calling out rape apologists etc, you just seem hung up by the name of the group.

To me, yes, it’s a large portion but it’s all relative isn’t it. To my 6’ 5”, solid muscle, not an inch of fat on him, sports playing 21 year old, it’s a normal meal.

midnightstar66 · 22/11/2020 13:27

This is mumsnet though, it was inevitable that it would turn in to one. It's full of undereaters and people that think their examples and lives are the only ones that are correct, and that if they and their super active families can only ever manage 5 strands of spaghetti then so should we all. Any portion size thread will go the same way!

Covidorcold · 22/11/2020 13:27

Well I could barely eat that bowl of salad. If I had that plus a single strand of that pasta I wouldn’t be able to eat for at least a week Wink

Well then I apologise.

Because anything like this will always turn into a competitive underrating thread. Have you not been here long? Only your OP with that photo was guaranteed to bring out the 'half a Ryvita on Thursday' brigade.

Scbchl · 22/11/2020 13:29

Are you actually on here to try bring more traffic and members to the group? I looked and there is only two groups of that name from what I can see on fb and one has a pathetic 30 something members and one has a pathetic 60 something and you have to click to join to see any posts as it's a closed group.

No, not long so it’s my mistake.

No, that's not large. It's bloody huge! I'd either be full or fed up halfway through that.
Iwantacookie · 22/11/2020 13:33

Not a large portion at all for me but I do have a big appetite. Ide love to see that as a large portion.

kowari · 22/11/2020 13:37

Looks like two or three serves of pasta. If I was going to eat that much then I'd want a better ratio of bolognese to pasta and it doesn't look appetising at all, very boring and cheap.

Kissthepastrychef · 22/11/2020 13:38

Crikey, we eat a lot and DH moans about "small portions" even if he's had triple the recommended portion of pasta.
Even he'd struggle with that

Kissthepastrychef · 22/11/2020 13:40

Unless it's actually served on a side plate...

Eckhart · 22/11/2020 13:44

you just seem hung up by the name of the group

Oh, why do you think that might be? Any ideas? Would you join a group called 'Women are worthless bags of shite' if there were actually some women on it? Your arguments aren't worth arguing with!

Gosh09 · 22/11/2020 13:46

Yes it`s large but it may be the only meal they have and did it all get eaten ?.
I awlays dish up large meals as i would rather someone leave some than go home hungry.

SpeckledyHen · 22/11/2020 13:46

Very big . Double carbs too .
