Tonight we ordered a takeaway online which DH collected.

His meal came with a side of kimchi. Mine didn’t but I wanted kimchi so added it on as an extra.

DH collected the food and, when we unpacked the bag, there was only one kimchi. It was a fairly small single-serving tub.

Lighthearted and we came to a very reasonable agreement where we shared it but DH is of the opinion that as kimchi came with his meal, the tub we received was for him and therefore he did me a favour by sharing it.

I feel that he should have checked the bag and therefore any error is on him, and I’m the best wife in the world because I shared my kimchi with him.

YABU = kimchi was rightfully DH’s.
YANBU = kimchi was rightfully mine.

I had to RTFT to see what kimchi was.

Technically OP he's right Grin

This reminds me of a time my lovely friend and I had a takeaway and they missed out prawn crackers. She phoned the place and as it was a fair drive they said just ask for them next time you order.

She came off the phone gushing about how nice that was.

Yes how nice of them to offer to give us the thing I paid for Grin

@HollyandIvyandallthingsYule

I think OP should LTB because he’s obviously having an affair. He obviously met up with OW for a 5-min tryst and shared one packet of kimchi with her as a sign of his lust and whatever else it is you’ve got when you have an affair, then LIED to OP about it!
Yep. OP needs to get her ducks in a row.
Soubriquet · 22/11/2020 10:11

It’s shroedingers kimchi!

Both of yours yet neither of yours

Storyoftonight · 22/11/2020 10:11

OP I can't quote for some reason but I am buckled about 'so I can tell you to fuck off from afar '.

Seriously though OP, I think it's outrageous that you posted this when people are so much worse off than you. DH is quite clearly controlling as he gave you some of his kimchi so will want something from you in the future.

Who paid , BTW? I hope that the proportion of kimchi accurately represented the proportion of funds submitted.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 22/11/2020 10:12

I mean to be fair I’ve advised people to LTB many, many times on MN. And in that case it’s also fair to advise getting one’s ducks in a row.

But this thread was clearly all in quite good fun.

Definitely one of my favourite threads.

I am debating a name change in honour.

I. Paid.

realisation dawns

He’s been planning this our entire marriage, hasn’t he?

My MIL has been dead for ten years, but I bet she’s involved in some way. Like, the woman wouldn’t have known a kimchi from a kumquat bit that means nothing.

OP posts:
SimonJT · 22/11/2020 10:23

I would say its his kimchi.

Only on MN would a woman ordering a complete normal amount of food be a problem.

I am definitely name changing in honour of this thread.

You should not have been ordering from a takeaway when covid is on

Oh for gods sake!

The world does not need to come to a complete stop because of fucking COVID!

CrotchBurn · 22/11/2020 10:43

I....I was joking...

Ginandplatonic · 22/11/2020 10:43

@BunnyMacDougal he sounds quite Narcissistic and has most likely been gaslighting you for years.

Butchyrestingface · 22/11/2020 10:45

I had never heard of kimchi until this thread. Therefore you are immentantely reasonable, @BunnyMacDougal, for teaching me something new.

And on a Sunday.

Blush

My apologies. I just keep seeing people being serious about this and it’s driving me crackers

I really am sorry

DanielRicciardosSmile · 22/11/2020 10:49

The kimchi was charged for, which makes it your kimchi. But it's more likely they'd forget to put in an extra kimchi than a "part-of-meal" kimchi, which makes it his kimchi. We will, sadly, never know the truth behind the kimchi. And now I've said kimchi too many times and the word no longer has any meaning.

DeciduousPerennial · 22/11/2020 10:50

Give it to the cat.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 22/11/2020 10:50

@Soubriquet it could very easily have been me as I am also being driven mad by it!

SockDrawer · 22/11/2020 10:52

I’m jealous of your takeaway, but...
Okonomiyaki, scallion pancakes
^ are these basically the same? (Or have I confused my foods?)

Ginandplatonic · 22/11/2020 10:53

An easy mistake @Soubriquet - the COVID madness on here defies satire.

HannaYeah · 22/11/2020 10:56
  1. now that you mentioned the bag was not stapled, it’s obvious he removed your kimchi on the way home

  2. are you sure your MIL is no longer living?

PrivateD00r · 22/11/2020 10:56

OP I loved this thread, I have no idea why some posters took it a bit too seriously Confused

Anyway, it was DH's Kimchi, sorry!

Actually, fair point and I honestly don’t know.

The place I get them from has them listed separately and they don’t taste alike. The okonomiyaki is squidgy, sliced into chunks, and has cabbage going through it and two spicy sauces drizzled on top (think one is kewpie mayo), whereas the scallion pancake comprises two crisp and thin pancakes with green onion sandwiches between them and is served in wedges.
I like to prise the scallion pancake apart and add some kimchi before sandwiching it back together.

I’ve never cooked either at home so no idea of the recipe is the same/similar, but they do look and taste very different when I order them.
