I figured it can't hurt to share here (rather than on local Facebook groups!).

Mine are:
Sainsburys: Mini breaded cambemberts (bloody hell they're good!).
Aldi: Torro Loco red wine, and "extra special" cauliflower cheese
M&S: Dulce de leche truffles

All very healthy as you can see....

I went to Aldi today and they had no sausage patties and were sold out of the frangipan mince pies! I did by the lobster and crayfish macaroni cheese though.

Also their Sri Lankan pizza is weird but delicious.

Baron St Jean red wine in Aldi. £3.99 and yet says it’s as good as a bottle three times the price

justanotherneighinparadise · 23/11/2020 19:08

*and yet DP says

Have just been to Lidl had to control myself some lovely Christmas items in (had to buy cheese and biscuits to try them out to make sure suitable to serve to others 😇 )

Does anyone else like to pick up the magazines at Lidl and Aldi ?

shas19 · 23/11/2020 19:42

Tropical blast from aldi. £1.29 for 6 cans, think lilt but better and sugar free

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 23/11/2020 19:47

I get Riyas garlic and coriander naan breads from asda online I think they must be in the world food aisle, they are amazing.

WelcomeToGreenvale · 23/11/2020 20:04

Tesco -

Creamfields brie at 79p is easily as nice as the more expensive brands. On the pricier cheese side they just started stocking a Petit Grey which is lovely.

Seconding the four cheese and balsamic red onion pizza - it's a bit goopy but god, I inhale it every time

Tesco own brand Skyr yoghurt is as good as the branded stuff

The extremely cheap Hearty Food Co chicken kievs, £1.10 for two, are genuinely the best I've had, absolutely full of garlic butter which doesn't leak out when you cook it!

There's this salmon and broccoli ready meal that tastes great, one of the best microwave ready meals I've ever had

Morrisons -

I ordered some frozen garlic bread via amazon today and my god if it wasn't the garliciest, butteriest garlic bread I've ever had in my life. Unbelievable.

If I manage to compile this all into a list ever I will try and come back and share it as I really want a list!

Naticus · 23/11/2020 21:40

Lidl authentic Greek (not the Greek style) yoghurt make sure it has 🇬🇷 on the label
Lidl Henry Hippos (knock off Percy pig)
Iceland rectangle pizzas - the garlic bread is amazing!

Naticus · 23/11/2020 21:58

GR- Greek flag

MrPanks · 23/11/2020 22:06

Sainsbury's Hubbards ground coffee is great and only just over £1 a packet.

CrocodilesCry · 23/11/2020 22:14

I fell out of love with ALDI but I think it was because I only ever bought the same things.

So, for purely scientific reasons and based on the recommendations on this thread, today I bought:

Mango and chicken flatbread pizza
Garlic bread in the big pizza box
Garlic mayo
Pretzel and salt chocolate
Jaffa cakes
White chocolate liquer
Torro Rosso rose
Salt and chardonnay vinegar crisps
Beef and horseradish crisps
Breakfast sausage patties
Prawn cocktail crisps
Lebkuchen hearts

Basically a trolley full of bad food (and some fruit and salad).

I will report back. Remember this is all for scientific purposes Grin

That is such a good shop. Grin

You won’t regret it @CrocodilesCry, well your waistline might!

Msfoxy17 · 23/11/2020 22:38

Great thread (so bored of shopping and meal planning right now so can use the inspiration).
Aldi certainly seems to be winning here..
I so wish we had one closer but I did go to our nearest one the other day as was in the area.
To be fair, everything I got was good but what really stood out was the coconut, chilli and lime frozen raw prawns - absolutely delicious (made a great stir fry with them).

MisterT373 · 23/11/2020 23:04

ASDA Takeaway Stuffed Crust Pizza in the freezer section- the Chicken & Bacon BBQ is as good as Domino's or Papa John's and its £2. Plain cheese is £1.73

CoffeeandCroissant · 24/11/2020 01:02

Tims Greek style yoghurt (Waitrose) if on offer. Also Waitrose and M&S own brand Greek style yoghurts , only £1 a tub (500g) and much better than Tesco, Sainburys etc own brands.

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference is by far the most reliable of the main supermarket premium own brand ranges, way better than Tesco finest which is usually very average.

Aldi, Wagyu steaks, pretzel milk chocolate, premium range glass ramekin deserts, (chocolate ganache and chocolate and salted caramel).

M&S Stollen bites/ slices, much prefer these to others as find others too dry.

Sainsbury's Taste the difference cherry compote.

stayathomer · 24/11/2020 06:19

Aldi water- beautiful!! Eh? Did you mean Pinot ? userxx
Just laughing here! Our tap water is disgusting and I buy the still water for a treat, it beats any of the other Brad's. (But their Pinot is beautiful too!!Grin)

stayathomer · 24/11/2020 06:20

Brands- not Brad's!

Hm2020 · 24/11/2020 06:43

I can’t tell you it’s a secret Wink

zigzagbetty · 24/11/2020 07:11

Aldi red onion chutney! Love it on all sandwiches and stir a dollop into most stews and tomato based things Grin

Bluesheep8 · 24/11/2020 11:55

Aldi half fat mature cheddar cheese is really good too

Bluesheep8 · 24/11/2020 11:56

And I second the red onion chutney
