Much more spending announced on 'defence' than eco policies, children growing up in poverty, dodgy contracts awarded to buddies and today pay freezes for public sector workers and a proven bully being supported in her role. All this on top of one of the worst covid death rates in the world. How much longer do we sit by idly?

people have become fascist too, snitching on their neighbors

Communists also went in for snitching on neighbours. The East German Stasi was extremely efficient.

Livelovebehappy · 20/11/2020 20:41

I don’t get the mentality of those who feel society would be better without police. What planet to they live on if they think that without police, we will all turn into nice, kind, peace abiding individuals. No thefts, no murder, no child abuse, no rapists, all capable of self policing. Absolute madness.

MiniTheMinx · 20/11/2020 20:47

Andante57 the thing they have in common is the state !

BMW6 · 20/11/2020 20:55

But what do you want to have if no State??????

DianaT1969 · 20/11/2020 21:10

OP, how would you getting together to protest with a few thousand mates during a pandemic help the NHS? Or help keep schools open of you increase transmission in the way to and from your riots. When you damage buildings, who does that help?
We are a democracy. You're free to leave at any time. Nobody will stop you at the border.

DianaT1969 · 20/11/2020 21:11

Do you think you actually miss Park Runs and you're itching to organise one, but the word 'riot' keeps coming out instead?

No chance there'll be any rioting in the streets tonight, it's raining.

Can't you just run around the park on your own if that is your fancy?
BMW6 · 21/11/2020 16:20

Are you at the anti-lockdown demonstrations in Bournemouth or Liverpool today OP? Did you get stuck into the crowd and smash anything up? Spread some Corona across the UK as you travelled there?

Perfect28 · 21/11/2020 17:50

@DianaT1969 wow, you couldn't have read me more wrong if you tried!

So, OP, Why do you approve and promote violence? How would it benefit our society to riot?

(don't try and backtrack - your post title wonders why people aren't rioting yet and you make it crystal clear that you think they should!)

"no idea if they've been part of BLM/ extinction rebellion etc. in recent years."

I've seen them at migrants' rights protests. I can't stand them. I've seen people turn up with their whole faces covered and presumed it was them. There's little you can do to avoid them turning up afaik.

Andante57 · 23/11/2020 13:05

Butterer & Gwenhwyfar what do these masked people do when they’re not protesting? Or are there so many protests that they manage to protest full time?

Requinblanc · 23/11/2020 13:18

Depends on whether they mishandled the vaccine programme...If that fails I think people will finally lose it.

This government is corrupt and incompetent to the core but people are too meek and willing to put up with it.

Brexit, job losses and so on will make the new few months even worse at some point the Tories will run out of excuses...

BMW6, I'm a communist. I have read a lot of Lennin, I'm not in favour of taking over the state. Communism is workers direct ownership of the means of production, not state socialism. Left wing anarchists and communists want the same thing. No one knows exactly what the blueprint should be in detail, but basically everything should be decided from the ground up in small committees, moving towards the national and international with representatives that can be recalled. Whether Marx was correct that the state would wither and die after capitalism can't be challenged unless retrospectively. Others have proposed that Communism marks the end of politics, i'd argue it places democracy in the hands of all people and marks the end of the state and not the end of politics. My reason,.....people do not have an affinity to the the state, it is imposed on them by the state. Our identity has very little to do with nationality. The nation state imposes itself as material reality only at a specific point in the whole of human history, before which it didn't exist. Its main purpose now is dealing with the inevitable disent or threat from within its own boarders, whilst in the past it was concerned with outside threats. We look to it to mediate between our interests and that of capitalists (in general) its main purpose is to prevent the worst effects of immiseration whilst working to perpetuate the ideology necessary for us not to question its existence, or our own immiseration. In the final analysis the state uses violence in order to keep us all where we are.

No one should use violence, but the state will and does everytime it can not impose its will without recourse to violence. Go out on the street, make enough demands, join with others and make some noise and then you will experience yourself, first hand. Then come back and tell me the state is not violent, and not fascist.
