Much more spending announced on 'defence' than eco policies, children growing up in poverty, dodgy contracts awarded to buddies and today pay freezes for public sector workers and a proven bully being supported in her role. All this on top of one of the worst covid death rates in the world. How much longer do we sit by idly?

I think OP is trying to start a riot on here, picking off individual posters in all her/his posts

Gobbycop · 20/11/2020 18:24

😂

Never.

Loads of people talk a good riot, then shut the fuck up and get on with it (not riot)

PaperTowels · 20/11/2020 18:25

@ListeningQuietly

Papertowels If you really believe that the EU will ratify a deal to take effect retrospectively which would be the case if it was done in January you are utterly kidding yourself.

The UK Government is trying to force through legislation that breaks international law
WHY would the EU ever trust the Tories to keep their word after that ?

Your argument is against all deals, not this particular one or its timing.
Applesonthelawn · 20/11/2020 18:25

@Perfect28 I'd take that more seriously if you could even spell naivety.

MiniTheMinx · 20/11/2020 18:26

@Dustballs

I wish people would riot. I'd join in. Peacefully rioting.

There's plenty to riot about and enough anger to get people out on the streets.

What is it that stops us?

We need to protest. We need to riot.

Apathy and fear.

I have believed for the last few years that I will see a revolution in my lifetime. But we are not at that point yet.

Lazy thinking. Do you know what 'Defence' actually includes?

And the benefits of the U.K. having fully skilled Armed Forces and supporting services, which covers everything from COVID Vx logistics, Cyber Security, keeping our country safe from invisible adversaries, giving employment to millions, including the next generation of engineers, scientists, cyber security and cryptographic experts, IT specialists, logisticians, data analysts.

Really, at least do some research before harping on about the Defence budget.

Contrary to your post above, this does actually sound like you are trying to incite a riot.

ListeningQuietly · 20/11/2020 18:28

Papertowels
The New European is rabidly remoaner - it seems to think there is a chance of readmission to the EU in the short term
I therefore regard its stories with a big dose of cynicism

Perfect28 · 20/11/2020 18:31

@isthisaworry sorry 'hunny' I'll just go paint my nails instead. Sorry you're so apathetic, and using sexist language in 2020.

I know. Why is violence so wanted?
MarshaBradyo · 20/11/2020 18:37

What will people rioting do first? Smash up what?

ListeningQuietly · 20/11/2020 18:49

Ha. It concerned me the guy put his gun next to the door in Contagion. Bad spot.

But really we are fed up, annoyed, but with furlough, SEISS, grants etc we are not apathetic mostly looked after (did Italy do less?). Tg for vaccine though it’s costing a fortune.

PicsInRed · 20/11/2020 18:54

@PickAChew

Too bloody cold to riot.
Mmmmn, yes. My prediction's April - 6 weeks of the weather warming up + evictions = kick off.
XDownwiththissortofthingX · 20/11/2020 18:55

You can have a deal '95% complete' and still be a million miles away from agreement on the final 5% that would actually constitute a workable solution.

There's still no indication at all how the UK is proposing to deal with the Irish border situation without committing a breach of the GFA, and believe me, as much as Downing Street will tell you it's the EU's fault, the EU, and Ireland, will very much take the view that the only things that have changed came about as a result of the UK's activities, therefore it's very much the UK's problem to overcome.

Fieldofyellowflowers · 20/11/2020 18:57

@Dustballs

There is a difference between a peaceful protest and a riot. Organising 'peaceful riots' will just lead to mayhem. Because not everyone will want to riot peacefully. Some people will just want a good brawl, or to loot, or to set things on fire. The last set of riots we had and shops got looted, buildings were set on fire, people were injured and some people died.

A peaceful riot. Aren't they as rare as a hot ice cube?

Mamamia456 · 20/11/2020 18:57

Sounds like you're trying to incite a riot OP.

Perfect28 · 20/11/2020 19:01

To be clear I don't want riots, but some kind of non violent action would be welcome. My op was more a question of... How much will it take until people snap.

OP posts:
ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 20/11/2020 19:02

Some on MN just love drama the other week it was civil war in the US with widespread shootouts, numerous times since The Referendum we have been on the verge of mass rioting and Political revolt In the summer it was fear that London would break out into mass riots the marches held wouod end up blood baths and now because of an increase in defence spending

Must be so disappointing for some that it just doesn’t quite play out how they predict with their faux concern for others who shall suffer

OP nothing is stopping you yourself demonstrating

BMW6 · 20/11/2020 19:07

There is no such thing as a "peaceful riot"

Cambridge English Dictionary
"an occasion when a large number of people behave in a noisy, violent, and uncontrolled way in public, often as a protest:"
