Ever just order a curry on a Friday night, or get shitfaced together and have wild sex? Do they clean their children's vomit or does the help do that? Do they ever just slob around the house all day like slobs? Do they ever shout at their children? Do they ever swear?

So many questions! I just can't picture them being normal people.

OP posts:
Dyrne · 18/11/2020 16:58

There’s a few photos floating round the Internet of Kate putting the fear of God into her children while dressed up immaculately Grin that’s always been enough to me to show they do take a hands on role in parenting, at least!

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2020 17:01

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles

Do you think they go to the toilet like we do or is there a special royal method that they have? Hmm
Smilethe royal throne is ready sir! Who knows? I bet they do a lot of normal things. I read they were smuggled into the local cinema to watch a film once. Must be a logistics nightmare for the minders though.
Gwenhwyfar · 18/11/2020 17:05

No way do they clean anything. Look at the amount of staff they have.

Xenia · 18/11/2020 17:09

As someone who had a daily house keeper and a daily nanny and gardener when my twins were little (and a Sat and Sunday morning childcare too)..... I would imagine they don't clean much sick up or do the washing and cleaning other than deal with an immediate spill if someone is on hand.

I doubt either of them has had an affair - they seem a very happy couple and William I am sure was put off by his father's marital issues.

I don't think they will get much time off to sit around the house. Every day will be planned. Even I with my busy job when the twins were little could say on any day what I would be doing as appointments were done even 12 months in advance for some work and family events.

I expect they have sex. I don't know if they get drunk.

They may not shout at the children much. I didn't and I don't swer and it is easy not to if you have lots of help with them actually.

ihatethecold · 18/11/2020 17:10

To clarify, this was a few years ago when Kp was being refurbished.

they lived in the cottage round the back

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2020 17:12

I remember this story Fearne Cotton told once in a magazine. She was talking to Kate somewhere once close to Christmas. She said she asked her their Christmas dinner and she looked a bit puzzled for a moment before saying ' we have a chef for that'! Fearne said she felt a bit stupid!
Sort of thing I'd blurt out.

kifomadertonasomc · 18/11/2020 17:16

Don't they have chefs? Why would you order a takeaway if you have someone to cook for you?

Seriously? No chef is an expert on every cuisine in the world.

Unless they have multiple chefs from all over the world just hanging about every day in case they happen to need them. That seems unlikely.

shamalidacdak · 18/11/2020 17:17

@PicsInRed

The international papers have examined PW's behaviour in some detail Hmm and I think all that's left there is a marriage of convenience.

I feel quite sad for her. She has everything on the surface but...not all that glitters, as they say.

Please. That's most marriages!

You are quoting me there.

Already discussed this with someone up thread. Seriously Smile.

Well that’s a load of bollocks. Even if they have a chef now; for the first 25ish years of her life she’d have lived a middle class life (much the same as Fearne now lives I imagine). Why the hell would she be “puzzled” by hearing someone talking about Christmas dinner?!?

Which might be true but as Christmas was / is under control of the Queen at Sandringham, its not really a surprise that she did not know the details
ListeningQuietly · 18/11/2020 17:28

TBH I'd be amazed if they do not get takeaway every now and then as some of the restaurants near KP do scrummy takeout
Grin

MatildaTheCat · 18/11/2020 17:34

Anyone who has watched The Windsor’s will know that Kate is well able to rustle up a Christmas lunch even under great duress.

They both seem really nice and are pretty hard working. She’s a great favourite of the Queen and a friend who met her said she was really nice and natural.

One thing that’s very noticeable is that she has really toned down her plummy accent which was off the scale when they were first married.

JinglingHellsBells · 18/11/2020 17:35

Kate used to be photographed going to waitrose all over the place.

As for not knowing about Christmas dinner- that's a stupid point. Since their marriage they have gone to Sandringham. Before that they went to her parents and Carol was interviewed in Good Housekeeping talking about what they did/ ate.

Allegedly William loves the Middletons and going there as it's normal.

nevermorelenore · 18/11/2020 17:37

She's been papped in Waitrose quite a bit, so maybe they get one of those ready meal in a bag type curries from there.

I always thought they seemed quite a normal, slightly boring couple. Didn't seem like a marriage of convenience. They were together a long time before they got engaged, broke up and both spent time living their lives, then got back together. Also, Kate is posh, but not Diana levels of posh where she'd be chosen for her breeding or any of that gross stuff.

Anyone else who was a 90s teenager remember when PW was a bit of a heartthrob? I remember a magazine printing a poster of him surfing so teen girls could pin him on their walls. It was cringey.

Pechanga · 18/11/2020 17:42

I read somewhere that they do get take aways and are usually collected by one of the protection officers in duty....(didn't I read they ordered pizzas to Kate's room after she'd given birth in hospital?)

I'm sure they do all of those normal things like any of us, although it must be hard though with staff around and the newspapers after a story all the time....to have a screaming row, order a new sex toy, eat crap and binge watch Netflix, have a quickie on the kitchen table etc.....it must always feel like you're being watched.

NoNarniaBecauseLipstick · 18/11/2020 17:43

Just to bring the discussion back to the Mumsnet essential basics:

Someone up thread said the Middletons were solidly upper middle class. You need to factor in Carole. She brings them down to middle-middle.

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2020 17:46

Only recalling a story about Kate I once read. Don't flame me!
I'm sure she likes cooking.

Dyrne · 18/11/2020 17:47

(Anyone else a bit bewildered why “being normal” has to involve screaming rows or sex toys?)

LioneIRichTea · 18/11/2020 17:47

I would imagine that yes they get takeaways and get drunk, but not very often, because Kate is clearly very controlled with what she eats and drinks to stay so thin.

My sister is thin and would put Augustus Gloop to shame so I wouldn’t be too sure 😂

Dyrne · 18/11/2020 17:50

@the80sweregreat not miffed at you, more Fearne Cotton for chucking another woman under the bus in an attempt to be “so relatable” despite the fact she’s been on a 6 figure salary for the last decade plus...

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2020 17:53

Kate probably has a well equipped gym / pool sauna or a trainer to sweat out any bad foods she might eat I'm sure! Easier to be healthy when you've got a few Bob and she also has land to run around too , maybe with the kids as well. That side of things must be nice to have and own.

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2020 17:55

I did wonder if the Queen will be able to have her family around her this year ?
It's a big tradition with them all and with the Duke now 99 they probably do cherish seeing the grand / great grand kids etc.

Samcro · 18/11/2020 18:03

I do lol at the idea of them being hard working.

I imagine they cook sometimes.

mrscampbellblackagain · 18/11/2020 18:06

I don't think any of the Royals work that hard really but they do keep us entertained, headlines everyday at the moment!
