Today I received a blood pressure monitor and some jars for making jam/chutney. Maybe the jam making will raise my blood pressure?

What have you received in error?

We started receiving lots of random returns from an eBay seller (dog blanket, broken phone charger, insoles). We set up an eBay account just so we could contact them to ask them to check their details but we still kept receiving all sorts of rubbish.

That was until a delivery guy showed up with three large boxes. He asked if we were eBay seller’s name and I said no, explained the recent issues etc. He then proceeded to tell me that the boxes had what looked like £1000’s worth of brand new tech as he was familiar with the packaging/company! I said he best not deliver them and funnily enough all the deliveries stopped after that!

Just need to find someone who wants a backpack for a medium sized dog... we still have a few of the unwanted returns which I can’t get to a charity shop right now!

A herb drying pack from Lakeland. They used to slip all sorts of bits and bobs in as samples, so I assumed it was a free gift, till I looked it up. Ooooh, no, that's a mistake. They sent me a prepaid postage label and a nice letter apologising for the inconvenience. And a voucher. Fab.

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 18/11/2020 10:18

A full carton of cigarettes, I've never smoked!

sashh · 18/11/2020 10:19

2 Kg of brie, I'd ordered 1 200g piece, someone must have read it wrong, they only charged for what I'd ordered.

A fancy insta pot when I had ordered a slow cooker, unfortunately I was replacing my small sc and no room to keep it so it had to go back.

14 yes 14 bags of coriander!!!

You can freeze it. It's no good to thaw out as a garnish but it crumbles beautifully into curry.

Kolsch · 18/11/2020 10:20

A tub of Ben & Jerries ice cream a couple of weeks ago with my food delivery. I definitely hadn't ordered it and it wasn't on my receipt.
A lovely jacket from Next in my size too. I've never ordered anything from Next.
A hockey stick! None of us have ever been the slightest bit interested in hockey, much less played it.
A company tried to deliver a brand new car to my husband! The paperwork has his name on it, but there was another man with his name on the camp. Much confusion followed as he didn't know about the other man. Fortunately after many phone calls the situation was resolved and the correct owner claimed his car.

HunkyPunk · 18/11/2020 10:21

Ds2's girlfriend's parents received a giant bottle of Harvey's bristol cream sherry in their Tesco shop. They don't drink sherry, so passed it on to me (who definitely does!) SmileSmileSmile

everycowandagain · 18/11/2020 10:22

A whole box of buggy boards, six of them. I only ordered one! I phoned amazon who collected the box minus the one I ordered, but then they processed the return and gave me a refund.

ExclamationPerfume · 18/11/2020 10:25

A used sanitary towel in some trousers from Next.

Early Learning Centre sent me a duplicate parcel. It was a garage and some cars. When I phoned them they didn't believe me. I donated it to the local children's hospital.

AddictedToCrisps · 18/11/2020 10:26

I’m very jealous of you all, I’ve never had anything extra in my deliveries. The only thing I can think of is my friend gave my daughter a Xmas present and when we unwrapped it, she’d accidentally included her scissors too! Still use those scissors for my own wrapping!!

ImaSababa · 18/11/2020 10:26

I received a two-metre-long Chinese scroll painting of some horses with an order of two fountain pens. They said I could keep it, so it's hanging in my hallway!

PizzzaExpressWoking · 18/11/2020 10:28

I've never received anything! Except Morrisons often chuck in a Gingerbread man as a lagniappe.

Bubbletrouble43 · 18/11/2020 10:30

Set of scented candles from amazon. Never got anywhere with enquiries. They were nice. Ordered 2 baking aprons for my twins, got sent 3 in error so gave one to my niece who's a similar size so that was good. Currently got opposite problem, ordered 2 pairs of pj's only one in parcel so currently chasing that up which is a pain.

Bubbletrouble43 · 18/11/2020 10:33

Once the middle third of my tesco shopping list was doubled up ( Inc booze and other pricy items) but only charged once, I'm assuming the pickers swapped over and miscommunicated where they were at... I calculated we got about 50 quids worth of free shopping.

MrsToothyBitch · 18/11/2020 10:42

@IToldYouIWasFreaky I used to work (briefly, thank god) for a firm under the JD umbrella so we used to process JD returns (you were allowed to bring any returns under the brand umbrella back to us). I found their parcels to be the worst. JD especially seemed to get really bizarre pickings and loads of wrong items. Their policy /till system wasn't easy to work, either and their customer services were a nightmare to get hold of (and had awful hold music for anyone over the age of about 19).

@ExclamationPerfume - you've just reminded me of when we had a pair of boots from an online return from a click and collect in store, the customer was very puzzled by the little pad in the box & assumed it was special packaging. It was a mercifully unopened, clean sanitary towel! I'm guessing a budget or non uk brand since no markings on the pure white wrapper)!

We also had someone return a pair of wellies which had frightened them. They had opened them to find them full of unused balloons!

ILoveYoga · 18/11/2020 10:45

Four ice cold beers, lots of prawn crackers and fortune cookies - when we tried a new take away as we were trying deliveroo for the first time. When we called to say we’d been given extra things, they said it was a thank you for supporting then through lock down. Will be our new go to for Chinese

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 18/11/2020 10:46

My DM ordered 4 pillows. 44 were delivered.
She was told to keep 8, the rest were picked up, ordered refunded and given a £10 gift card. Their whole living was full of boxes! (They had tried to refuse delivery)

HazelBite · 18/11/2020 10:55

84 tea lights, I had ordered some battery operated mock candles as I won't have real candles in the house with pets (colleague had a house fire caused by cat knocking a candle over) I was told not to send them back and they forwarded on my original order.

merryhouse · 18/11/2020 10:56

the book "Chicken Shit for the Soul"

And yes, it was as tedious as it sounds. The only thing that stopped it being as bad as Bored of the Rings was that it was short.

Girlzroolz · 18/11/2020 11:15

I just had an order mixup today...online I bought 6 bags of potting mix. Received both sides of a clamshell sand pit, plus 3 bags of sand instead! Hardware shop said it was easier for their delivery scheduler if we just kept it all and they’d send our actual order next week.

My 2yo nephew will be thrilled at his extra xmas present!

Pesimistic · 18/11/2020 11:33

My sister got a lovely lipsy top sent in error she said it didnt suit her so gave it to me

Champagneforeveryone · 18/11/2020 11:34

I got a stray box of Nobbly Bobbly's in my Waitrose order. DS was chuffed, but alcohol or fillet steak would have been better Grin

WitchQueenofDarkness · 18/11/2020 11:39

I once got two bottles of gentian violet spray when I just ordered one but I think that is it.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 18/11/2020 11:41

I got some cat food and litter, alongside a dog food delivery. I don't have a cat. I sold it on Facebook marketplace after they said I could keep it.

MsHedgehog · 18/11/2020 11:54

Until last month we ordered a tub of Ben and Jerry's to our weekly Sainsbury's shop for several months. We realised we should stop so decided to not buy it.

Our very next delivery had a number of frozen items that we didn't order. Amongst some frozen fruit and veg was a tub of Ben and Jerry's.... We both thought the other added it in until we realised the other items weren't ours either!

Tangledtresses · 18/11/2020 12:11
