YABU, it's Diwali.
I don't have a cat or dog and my fish don't mind, which is of course a factor.

LouiseTrees · 14/11/2020 21:31

It’s Diwali so yeh there will be some if anyone celebrates that near you.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/11/2020 21:32

It's Diwali.

38weekswithno2 · 14/11/2020 21:32

We heard some but only before 7.30pm. Far more considerate than the numpties letting them off in the weeks running upto guy fawkes

Normandy144 · 14/11/2020 21:32

It's Diwali

That's not an excuse for a war zone. Its ridiculous the constant bangs. There are plenty of pretty but bit bomb like noise variations these days if you must. It's incessant

Stripesnomore · 14/11/2020 21:34

They have been nowhere near as bad this weekend than last.

It should still be organised displays only though. Explosives should not be available to the public.

Plussizejumpsuit · 14/11/2020 21:34

It's diwali. You're being a dick

PizzaForOne · 14/11/2020 21:34

At least this festival is clearly one night only whereas Brits spent a whole week either side of Bonfire night letting off rockets

Pollypocket89 · 14/11/2020 21:36

*but NOT bomb like

Attictroll · 14/11/2020 21:37

It's Diwali a time many would have spent with friends and family. There are no organised parties this year so more fireworks as people celebrate in their bubble at home and make the most of trying to make it special.

I beg to differ, this has been going on all week.

Never used to have fireworks in my town after 5 Nov. This is the first year. Private Fireworks on NewYears started in 2000. Before that it was just the bit cities who had this huge displays. It’s out of order and totally selfish

War zone round here. One lot stops and the next starts up and it goes on until Januaty 1st +.

I don't care if it's Bonfire night, Diwali, Christmas or New Year. The whole fucking unregulated lot can fuck off. Properly organised displays only.

CathyorClaire · 14/11/2020 21:40

January

doctorhamster · 14/11/2020 21:42

Yanbu. The fireworks in my area tonight are nothing to do with Diwali either.

woodhill · 14/11/2020 21:43

It's terrible here

ShockMonkey · 14/11/2020 21:43

We've had fireworks every night since October 29th.

It has not been Diwali every night since then. Pretty sure the drunk group of men in our street letting them off towards each other are not celebrating Diwali either.

Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating.

safariboot · 14/11/2020 21:44

@StuckOnTheM1 I think you meant fucking fucking fireworks.

BrumBoo · 14/11/2020 21:46

The sooner domestic fireworks are banned, the better. If people could be trusted to set them off at sociable hours and only on the day of celebration, fair enough. Weeks of this nonsense though, makes me not care for them even when there is a genuine reason. 5 hours straight of them tonight, I dont remember them ever being this loud either. Like explosions constantly going off, and seems like no chance of them stopping soon. It's been like this since mid October in my area.....

Luckily, I now live rurally but I spent several years living in a city. I can assure you that Diwali fireworks can go on for weeks.
