That's all.

As you were.

Fireworks are surprisingly under regulated, definitely needs to be tightened up.

Silent/quiet fireworks for private displays seems very sensible

@NorthAndSouthern I'm actually not white myself, just seems odd for a post to complain about a celebration a minority do, whilst not acknowledging that general populace ('British' as I refer to them) have been letting off fireworks for 2 weeks straight.

I’m not white either but am British.

Seems odd that you don’t think of the Hindus as Brits but as “other” or that they can’t be British which I find a little offensive.

Put some earphones on your damn dog and GET OVER IT!

MoonElk · 16/11/2020 11:21

It's not just dogs CtrlU, but of course people with always prioritise some bangy lights.

PizzaForOne · 16/11/2020 11:37

@NorthAndSouthern I don't, poorly worded by me in original post. I consider myself British.

Essentially I was trying to say, why complain about one religion's festival for one night, without acknowledging fireworks going on for 2 weeks because of a 'British' festival.

And the award for the most stupid post goes to....

I would like to see the dog that would have earphones put on them and not shake them off.

Also, although it has been said about a million times before, IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT DOGS.

What about cats, rabbits, hares, hedgehogs, foxes, badgers, sheep, pigs, cows, horses, donkeys and all the other animals whether pets, farm animals or wildlife.

It is also about babies and children that are upset by them. About old people upset by them, people with ptsd upset by them.

Why do posters just ignore all that?

My dad (who is Indian and has been celebrating Diwali all of his life) said "Diwali is the Festival of Light, not the Festival of Late Night Fireworks".

I don't know a single person IRL who uses Diwali as an excuse to set off fireworks late at night.
Yet 'but its Diwali' is regularly rolled out on social media in a passive aggressive 'you must be so culturally ignorant' way.

Don't appropriate a religious festival as an excuse for selfishness.
