Just seen a FB post from a mum friend boasting about her 9yo daughter doing online dance and gym sessions via zoom and practising for her 11 plus complete with picture of said child sat at her desk and smiling for the camera. Hope the child gets time to chill out now and then! Mum obviously needs us all to believe her daughter is a high achiever! It was so cringy though and I wondered if anyone else out there was biting their lip at stuff like this?!

@sleeplessinliverpool

Ofcourse, I do, but not for eveyone to be excited, just to tell the world I am excited. Couldn't care less if others are not excited. It is my choice. Sorry about your less than average kids that don't do shit that get you excited.
OooooOOOOOOooooo we've touched a nerve with someone haven't we Grin So sorry you've identified from this thread that you're clearly an annoying bore.
GlummyMcGlummerson · 14/11/2020 22:02

Oh and BTW shouting that your children are above average doesn't make them above average. HTH

GlummyMcGlummerson · 14/11/2020 22:04

@m0therofdragons my DD is 8 and can make cupcakes herself, though I have a high up oven and she's a short arse so I put them in Grin but there's a world of difference between 2 and 8.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 14/11/2020 22:04

Also WHY do people think Karen is some sort of stinging slur?! Shows your lack of creative thinking TBH.

00100001 · 14/11/2020 22:05

@sleeplessinliverpool

You are the Hilarious one, Indon't brag about my children. I praise their achievementa no matter how small. I'm not going to let my children turn out like yours Karen
That's bragging 🤣

ooh, nice, I'm hoping your above average kids don't resort to insults whenever there's a difference of opinion.
sleeplessinliverpool · 14/11/2020 22:08

Exactly what your last few sentences suggest. Can'y believe this is even up for discussion.

00100001 · 14/11/2020 22:09

@ChooseYourLameName

I’m guilty of this. My DC is 3 and non verbal. Two days ago he said ‘I want coke, not clear stuff!’ He’s never said anything other than occasional babbles.

I bragged all over Facebook, Instagram and Twitter! And now mumsnet it seems Blush

That's not bragging or boasting, that's an understandable reason to shout from the rooftops!

Now if you start posting about how well he brushes his teeth, or how he is just soooooooo kind because he once held a door open for someone.... Piss off with your bragging Grin

I have a very hard time believing the posters throwing wobblers that could rival a toddler's on here aren't exactly the kind braggers we're discussing - they don't brag at all, no sir-ee bob, it's normal to be this angry and defensive about something that is not about them Grin

GlummyMcGlummerson · 14/11/2020 22:12

Bet your husband beats the crap out of you daily Karen

Nice.

Yeah making light of domestic abuse is VERY live and let live.

Of course you are the kind of person who's raised intelligent and kind children.

sleeplessinliverpool · 14/11/2020 22:12

Hiw is praising a child's kindness bragging. You must have very unmannerly children. Your little loves must be so nice ro be around

GlummyMcGlummerson · 14/11/2020 22:13

Can I implore people NOT to report the post from @sleeplessinliverpool - let's show her for the misogynist that she is

00100001 · 14/11/2020 22:14

@sleeplessinliverpool

No I have identified a few idiots one being you. Annoying bore? Me never. I live and let live. Obviously you busy bodies who have nothing better to do than slate women for adoring their children and praising their achievements need to get a life. Bet your husband beats the crap out of you daily Karen
Oh wow. Aren't you a charmer. 🤣
m0therofdragons · 14/11/2020 22:14

For me there’s a difference between feeling proud and sharing it, and bragging implying your dc is better than everyone else’s. If you want to praise your dc then tell them rather than using fb which your dc aren’t even on. It’s line mil posting memes about loving her sons when she wasn’t even speaking to dh at the time.

You very clearly have not the thread of you think people are putting g anyone down for "praising kindness".

But you really expect us to believe that someone who makes fun of battered women is raising kind children? I sincerely
A. Hope you're a troll and don't really have kids, especially girls, and
B. If you do, that they're far, far nicer than you are

Because kindness is just a given, surely?

It's like saying they need to be praised all the time for saying please or getting dressed or putting their shoes on or reading a book Confused

GlummyMcGlummerson · 14/11/2020 22:17

@00100001 I think sleepless definition I’m of kindness is very different to yours or mine given the tone and content of her posts.

00100001 · 14/11/2020 22:17

Praised publicly*

GlummyMcGlummerson · 14/11/2020 22:20

@sleeplessinliverpool

Re the very weird domestic abuse comment - why do you think anyone's husband beats the crap out of them? Or is it what you're hoping happens?

threatmatrix · 14/11/2020 22:37

I’d have said oh dear it’s got more chance of going rotten then 😂😂🙄

rhib2 · 14/11/2020 22:43

One relative has always put any achievements I or my children have had down but is now using social media to demonstrate how wonderful she is . After over 20 years her boasts are now a source of great amusement to the rest of the family as the reality doesn’t match . Narcissism in the extreme .
