To be annoyed at people shopping in families/couples?

Nicknamegoeshere · 08/11/2020 16:37

So I went to the supermarket to do my weekly shop today. Left the baby and my OH at home as I understand the current rules re Covid to be shop alone where possible.

Now I totally respect that in certain circumstances there has to be exceptions to this rule e.g. for lone parents, shopping with a vulnerable person etc.

However, there were a huge number of large families (with both parents) shopping today, lots and lots of couples (young/middle-aged) etc.

Why are so many people blatantly ignoring the guidance?

So many people justifying themselves on here just demonstrates they know they're being unreasonable but are too selfish to actually change their behaviour.

BluebellsGreenbells · 12/11/2020 07:43

I'm not taking them home and then come back out

But you’ll risk transmission to those around you?

Christmas in lock Down will happen precisely because everyone isn’t doing their small part

Nishky · 12/11/2020 07:44

@thecatsarecrazy get a new husband?

jessstan1 · 12/11/2020 07:46

Just get on with your own shopping and stop looking at others, it hardly affects you. Better still, have your goods delivered.

BluebellsGreenbells · 12/11/2020 08:17

it hardly affects you

Shocking understatement

Or because it's a fucking virus and it is doing what a virus does? Sick of all this whinhinh about rule breakers as if that's the problem. The problem is it's a fucking virus and even if EVERYONE went to Asda alone it. Would. Still. Spread.

Oh dear. It hardly affects you. It affects everyone that's why we are where we are. Sad

I think you need to look to the government for being where we are actually.

Maybe. But everyone is capable of thinking about the bigger picture and doing their bit IMO.

That's my view.
I look to the government and judge their staggering incompetence.

However Boris isn't responsible for my actions, I am. Some people seem to think that blaming the government excuses them doing whatever they like.

If people spent more time thinking about what they can do to minimise contacts and less time getting stroppy because they don't like being given guidance then we'd be getting somewhere.

D4rwin · 12/11/2020 09:27

Got some woman tutting at my daughter being with me yesterday. It's a big supermarket, the opticians is at the back. Her new (necessary) glasses were in the post, they got lost so we had to attend for a refit. Apparently it's parents like me that keep the pandemic going. Hmm

Yes, just because the government is incompetent doesn't mean we have to stop thinking about our own actions.

YANBU at all OP. I'm sure if we had IQ tests at the point of entry we'd soon perceive the reason.

That's madness. In what way was she tutting?
earthyfire · 12/11/2020 09:33

Why don't you ask people in real life the next time you are in a supermarket? I'd pay to watch.

nevernotstruggling · 12/11/2020 10:38

I try hard to shop alone when the kids are at school so that people who find this difficult don't have to.

In the last lockdown the Morrisons security booted out the husband of an older lady who looked like he had some complex care needs. The wife was in tears. It was fucking awful.

My dp did loads of the shopping in the first lockdown. I made lists. Sometimes he got it wrong. I take photos of things now to help him. There are ways to cope.

Exactly

I am, but if some batshit crazy approaches me to tell me what's in my basket is not necessary, or I shouldn't be shopping with my husband, I'll be explaining the bigger picture to them.

It will start with

Mind your own business!

I have never seen this in RL and I doubt anyone would actually do that, but venting/discussing on a Talk Forum-fine. I might notice things when and and about but wouldn't get into discussion with strangers about it.
Bookworming · 12/11/2020 10:47

@Sparklingbrook are you serious? You just commented on a post where someone said it happened.

But as I thought "key board warriors" the lot of you.

Do you do that sniffy judgemental face? You know and a bit of a tut?

If challenge you if I caught you doing that to me.

No I don't do any sort of face and no tutting either, I just register something that's happening in RL then get on with my shopping or whatever. I don't know what you are getting at TBH.

I asked the poster about the tutting but they haven't responded as yet.
