To ask what job you do if....

-You earn over 30k
-you can wear whatever you want -as in you don't HAVE to dress smart! So you could wear jeans if you wasn't.

  • it's a quiet environment
  • you get a lunchbreak
-days only (no shift) -you are not sitting all day but not on your feet either...so a good balance

Thanks in advance...

wallyb · 08/11/2020 12:20

I work in finance so fulfil all the criteria except I sit down too much.

ComtesseDeSpair · 08/11/2020 12:21

I work in governance for the Civil Service.

Pre-pandemic we work in a huge, modern open plan and very sociable office so “quiet environment” might not necessarily apply; and smart casual dress is fine (unless you’re more senior, as I am, in which case it’s generally unspoken that you dress more on the smart side.)

PhilCornwall1 · 08/11/2020 12:21

IT Consultant. Specialise in Data Migration and Modelling and Systems Integration.

WFH if not on client sites and it's then a suit if I do.

RockStarMartini · 08/11/2020 12:24

Graphic designer - it’s not always that quiet and the hours can go over 9-5/M-F at times but I could go to work in my pyjamas and nobody would bat an eyelid.

Hardbackwriter · 08/11/2020 12:25

I work in the quality department of a university and under 'normal' circumstances it meets all those requirements because I have meetings a lot of the time and all over campus so don't sit still all day. Under current WFH circumstances, where I spend all day on Zoom, it very much fails the last requirement!

Academic research, though it is mostly sitting down.

You could get the other aspects except a lower wage in academic admin, without a degree.

Calic0 · 08/11/2020 12:27

Civil service. Although people coming in on new contracts are being put on 5 in 7 contracts so there is the the possibility of some weekend working now, albeit that’s quite unusual in most areas.

hemhem · 08/11/2020 12:27

Accountant

wallyb · 08/11/2020 12:27

This probably sounds odd but I wouldn't even bother applying for jobs in certain sectors even with higher pay as I just hate the idea of having to wear a skirt suit & courts 🤮. It's because I went straight into the fashion industry after uni so I'm too conditioned to give up my trainers.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 08/11/2020 12:29

I'm a chartered accountant. I work for a small community interest company. I have facial piercings, the most wonderful hair art and sometimes my skirts barely cover my modesty. It's all good. I do a good job Smile

I work for a Health Professional regulator. No jeans but other than that most things tick your box. More sitting down than not, but lots of meetings, walking to other departments to speak to colleagues.

Quiet environment (as far as offices can be)
Proper - and encouraged - lunch breaks
Flexi time and flexible working Mon - Fri only
7 hours a day
30 days holiday
Paid sick leave
Good pension
Healthcare plan available if you want it
