-You earn over 30k
-you can wear whatever you want -as in you don't HAVE to dress smart! So you could wear jeans if you wasn't.

  • it's a quiet environment
  • you get a lunchbreak
-days only (no shift) -you are not sitting all day but not on your feet either...so a good balance

Thanks in advance...

Wibblewobble99 · 08/11/2020 13:33

Building surveyor for a local authority. Occasionally need to dress professionally but will know well in advance. Since WFH I can dress even more casually as the properties I am surveying are often in poor condition so dark jeans and a jumper are suitable, I don’t need to smarten up before department meetings as they’re all online.

Almost exactly the same, except I'm a local authority structural engineer. Lots of lofts and scaffolding.

I meet all but one of your requirements, so you might not be interested but... I'm a teacher.

Guess which requirement I don't meet?! 😂

SmudgeButt · 08/11/2020 13:44

back office admin for a bank. strictly speaking I earn under £30k but there's a bonus (well maybe not this year) and overtime.

I have the option to set my hours so vaguely work 35 hours either at home or in the office anytime between 8 and 6 M-F. No obligation to work a 7 hour day as long as there's 35+ per week.

Dress code is "whatever". The last few months have been extra casual and until the recent cold snap half the lads in the office were wearing shorts. No one has yet succumbed to wearing sweat pants but that might be considered a casual too far for those actually in the office.

Lyricallie · 08/11/2020 13:50

Health and safety in a high hazard industry. Should probably move about more. Do when I'm on site visits but not so much during the pandemic as we've just been doing video calls.

TheBodyPiercer · 08/11/2020 13:53

Self employed body piercer.
Currently off as I'm classed as "non essential"

I work 4 days a week 9.30 to 4.30 but have time off as and when I please.

Elsewyre · 08/11/2020 13:53

Aircraft structures and powerplants operator.

Good money, sit about a lot but also work in very unusual confined spaces. No one cares what you wear as long as you leave with everything you came with ("I can't find my earring" at the end of shift will have people suggesting they remove your ears to stop it happening again).

Only real downside is the cancer really

invalidnickname01 · 08/11/2020 14:01

I'm an analyst for a travel firm and meet all bit the mainly sitting down part. Seems to be the one point most of these roles don't meet looking at responses so far.
I make just under 45k, Mon to Fri, breaks are encouraged, lunch is an hour, the only dress code is no offensive slogans/images.
In normal times I spend a lot of time moving around to get to meetings and I'd try to schedule something over in one of the other buildings every now and then to get some air. Our office has standing desks, games rooms, ping pong tables, table football etc. and we're encouraged to take breaks, move about and get away from our screens. Now we are all working from home, going for a walk to get some fresh air is a perfectly valid reason to be offline for a while.
