Dh putting bags of dog pooh in bin

We have wheelie bin for general waste collected every 2 weeks
I tens to line the wheelie bin as we have a dog and incase dog pooh bags or waste splits
Just after bin day we had ran out of liners , due that day
Dh decided to throw a bag dog pooh in bin without liner at bottom
Im not happy but he says i aibu
But at the bottom of the bin when all the other rubbish goes in it is likely to split open, bags we use a degradable as well and as its will be 2 weeks im not that convinced how well they will contain especially with a load rubbish
I thought he had removed it as we have 2 bins ( large family )
But just gone out and its still at bottom of bin along with a bag of rubbish one of kids as thrown in
I can't reach it to get out
I wouldn't of minded so much if he had at least placed it in a black bag first and then put in, he could of taken out kitchen bin bag and put it in that at least

@timeforanewstart
You do know wheelie bins were to eliminate the need for plastic bin bags, you’re being daft, your bio degradable bags won’t break down doubled up 🙄

timeforanewstart · 03/11/2020 20:00

@SBTLove no they were not they were so bin collections could be made every couple weeks and people had somewhere to put rubbish away from animals etc
Our waste people ask us to put stuff in bags to help keep bins cleaner and fresher
Maybe not a liner but bin bags plus do you not use one in your kitchen bin that you then transfer to the wheelie bin

@SBTLove the dog waste we are told to double bag by the waste people !! Also now our waste is apparently getting incinerated so no need for me to bother with biodegradable

Thats nonsense. I imagine they were invented to hold larger amounts of waste for a longer amount if time and to prevent animals getting to the bags and ripping them open

Does anybody else say 'pooh' in their head with a feeble 'pearl clutching' type voice? Or just me Grin. Whereas 'poo' comes out in a solid, no nonsense voice.

Madcats · 04/11/2020 00:09

I bought a kerbside food waste caddy to hold our poo bags (full of used cat litter).

I just bung it in a bin bag the day before "bin day" (we aren't allowed to put out bins here).

merryMuppet · 04/11/2020 00:57

Our bin men refused to take our bin one week where I’d got a few bags of dog poo on the top. Grrrrrr. So now I put the bags of poo by the back gate and either take them with me on a dog walk and put them in a poo bin or I put a bunch of them in another bin liner so the bin men will take the bin. Am sure the binmen should have taken the bin but can’t risk them not taking it as have a large household so a month with no collection is a nightmare so my back gate often looks like I have a dog poo hoarding issue!

miaows · 04/11/2020 01:14

Apologises if I'm repeating - we have never put dog poo in our bin. Any from garden wrapped in toilet tissue flushed down the toilet. Dog walks do go into bags then park bins.

Gross

Am I missing something? I never put rubbish straight into the wheelie bin. I have a bin in the house for general waist with a black liner. When full, the liner is taken out, tied and put into the outside bin. So the wheelie bin will contain 2-3 big black bags. Do people also put in small bits of rubbish, including poo bags, straight into the outside bin?

MandalaYogaTapestry · 04/11/2020 03:40

*waste sorry

Lovely1a2b3c · 04/11/2020 03:41

I think we do this (not me personally); I don't see it as a problem despite my severe contamination-based OCD!

Lovely1a2b3c · 04/11/2020 03:51

You could after the next bin collection to half fill the wheelie bin with diluted bleach solution, leave it for 30 mins and then tip it out and let it air dry but I think that that kind of close contact with the bin is probably actually worse than letting the bin be dirty but not touching it much.

www.bokashi.com.au/EnsoPet.html You need something like this instead.

Yes! And “poop” is said in an american soccer mom manner, polite enough to avoid using poo, but still needing to talk about bodily functions with children...

Yes. If i clear out a bit of rubbish in the car, or the kids have a mcd’s, i chuck the rubbish straight in the bin on the way into the house. If there’s a crisp packet in the front garden i throw it straight in the bin.

I don’t bring it in the house, bag it, and take it back out again?

Thehop · 04/11/2020 07:45

@TheQueef that litter tip is ace thank you!

calamityjam · 04/11/2020 08:00

Disco rice!! I love it

Scattyhattie · 04/11/2020 11:29

I use the empty dog food sacks (reuse & stronger than bin bags) to stick poo bags in then transfer to waste bin when put out for collection.
I had a galvanized bin in garden to store in past but currently the poo sack lives in the lidded glass bin as it takes me ages fill that for collection.

LizzyELane · 04/11/2020 11:47

I have a phobia of maggots that's so bad I can't touch the bin if I see any, so a poo bag in there for two weeks would really bother me. I try to take poo bags to the nearest public dog bin unless rubbish collection day is imminent.

You are not meant to flush dog poo down the toilets!

From a water company website:

No types of animal faeces is allowed to be flushed down the toilet. The sewer network is not suitable for this kind of waste because of the presence of Toxocara (also known as roundworm) in animal faeces

That's Anglian Water. My water company told me it's fine as long as the dog is regularly wormed, because it won't carry Toxocara or any of the other parasites.
