Dh putting bags of dog pooh in bin

We have wheelie bin for general waste collected every 2 weeks
I tens to line the wheelie bin as we have a dog and incase dog pooh bags or waste splits
Just after bin day we had ran out of liners , due that day
Dh decided to throw a bag dog pooh in bin without liner at bottom
Im not happy but he says i aibu
But at the bottom of the bin when all the other rubbish goes in it is likely to split open, bags we use a degradable as well and as its will be 2 weeks im not that convinced how well they will contain especially with a load rubbish
I thought he had removed it as we have 2 bins ( large family )
But just gone out and its still at bottom of bin along with a bag of rubbish one of kids as thrown in
I can't reach it to get out
I wouldn't of minded so much if he had at least placed it in a black bag first and then put in, he could of taken out kitchen bin bag and put it in that at least

bin gravy
Argggh! Wish I hadn't read that! 🤮

donquixotedelamancha · 03/11/2020 16:11

he does know which is why I am prob more peeved

Been there. He won't understand just because you told him. I found I had to repeat stuff quite a lot and emphasise that even if what I feel is irrational it's how I feel.

Cheeseandwin5 · 03/11/2020 16:12

The country / World already has a problem with rubbish and plastic and you are double bagging your rubbish. Even if you use eco products it doesn't mean you don't have to be careful with their use.

When I moved into this house I rang the water company and asked them if I could flush my dogs' poop. They said that as my dogs are fully vaccinated and regularly wormed there's no reason not to flush.

I'd be amazed at someone working for a water company saying that but I suppose there are idiots everywhere.

The risk from worms and bacteria is, in fairness, very low once the water is treated but there can be very nasty bacteria in dog poo and it's not an acceptable risk. It is very difficult to treat a whole water system once infected- hence why the example I gave took so long to resolve.

Potentially much worse than a few people going blind and thousands having to boil water is the prospect that something unpleasant crosses the species barrier to which humans have no immunity. Now if only I could think of an example of how bad that can get.

timeforanewstart · 03/11/2020 16:30

@Sunshinecake the liners were arriving that day so the bag could of sat in back garden or he could of emptied the kitchen bin and put it in that bin bag as we had forgot to empty this before the bin men came

OP posts:
timeforanewstart · 03/11/2020 16:33

@Cheeseandwin5 I don't think my use of maybe 10 liners a year is causing that big an issue and the waste company say to double bag dog waste as its for the bin mans protection. I also can also empty some things straight into the bin when there is a liner in , so it saves liners elsewhere

OP posts:
timeforanewstart · 03/11/2020 16:34

@Sunshinecake all our waste no goes for incineration so the biodegradable ones are now pointless
The ones i bought did claim to degrade in landfill ?

@Sweettea1

Wow wish what went in my bin outside that has absolutely no effect on my life whatsoever was my only worry unless your bin is made of gold then what is the problem
Excellent use of alliteration there.
Signalbox · 03/11/2020 17:17

Where would you put dog poo then?

I'd put it in the dog poo bin in the park.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 03/11/2020 17:20

@Signalbox

Where would you put dog poo then?

I'd put it in the dog poo bin in the park.

But but but ... that means you have a park.. and that ot has dog poo bins....

[again, sarcasm, honest!]

Signalbox · 03/11/2020 17:32

But but but ... that means you have a park.. and that ot has dog poo bins

OK if I didn't have a park I would probably put it in a corner of the garden and let it rot down (along with all the cat shit from my neighbours cats). And if I didn't have a garden or a park I probably wouldn't keep a dog. I just know I wouldn't put shit in my wheelie bin. And if I did put shit in my wheelie bin I would definitely double bag it so that if the flimsy dog poo bag splits it doesn't smear around the inside of my bin.

timeforanewstart · 03/11/2020 17:41

@sweettea1 when you have ocd what might seem silly to you may not be to me , so sarcasm isn't really needed

OP posts:
Signalbox · 03/11/2020 17:57

Do you have a dog? Has that ever happened in your bin?

I do.. it's never happened!

Actually I don't have my own dog but I board dogs so I frequently have to deal with dog poo. In addition to that I live on a footpath and if I don't take my wheelie bin in quickly enough other people put their poorly bagged poo in my wheelie bin. I have had to clean dog shit out of the bottom of the bin on one occasion where a bag had split and I even made signs for the top of the bins asking that people do not put their shit in my wheelie bin. I don't really care what other people do with their wheelie bins but I also don't think it's particularly odd for OP to not want shit in hers.

timeforanewstart · 03/11/2020 18:04

@sweettea1 and no its clearly not my only worry a day on my life

OP posts:
timeforanewstart · 03/11/2020 18:05

@Signalbox thanks I don't relish the thought of cleaning it off the bottom of the bin either

I'd be amazed at someone working for a water company saying that but I suppose there are idiots everywhere.

It was obviously a question they're often asked because he immediately responded by asking if my dogs are vaccinated and wormed regularly. Dogs that are wormed don't carry the parasites.

I've looked at the websites of half a dozen water companies and the only one that said not to flush dog poo was Anglian. The others mention not flushing things like sanitary towels, wipes etc., but none of them mention dog poo. I also know from all the dog forums that there are thousands and thousands of people flushing dog poo all over the country, and I don't recall ever reading of any problems having arisen from it.

Rotundandhappy · 03/11/2020 18:17

I didn’t know people gave so much of a shit about their wheelie bins.

timeforanewstart · 03/11/2020 18:19

@TibetanTerrier contact a water company and ask and they will tell you no due to different pathogens etc

OP posts:
CountessFrog · 03/11/2020 18:20

We place our dog poo bags into a separate little bucket in the woodstore to avoid them splitting under the weight of rubbish bags.

We then put them into the top of the wheelie bin on bin day. Could you do that?

Bajalaluna · 03/11/2020 18:25

Christ op, you'd hate us... we sling the dog poo (unbagged) straight in the unlined bin... 😱 No one has died, bin doesn't smell particularly gross (but, let's face it, bins aren't meant to smell like Chanel no5) and at the end of the day it's an outside bin so I really couldn't care less. Would feel far worse I'd we were unnecessarily using disposable plastic the way you seem to!

timeforanewstart · 03/11/2020 18:26

@CountessFrog once a liner is in there i don't mind them going in
It was just on this occasion in an empty bin no bin bag ,which will then have a load thrown on top of it.

OP posts:
timeforanewstart · 03/11/2020 18:28

@CountessFrog we do generally double bag it ( me & kids ) as that is what the waste people ask us to do round here

OP posts:
donquixotedelamancha · 03/11/2020 18:29

How would you know? How could an infection be traced back to someone's toilet.

I'd never heard of infections coming from eating bat before but I'm damn sure going to stop eating them after the pandemic.

NorbertMeubles · 03/11/2020 18:38

Yabu. Also, it's poo not pooh.

2021optimist · 03/11/2020 18:38

Use one poo bag for holding the poo. Use another poo bag for picking up poo and putting it in the poo bag. When done, use 'glove' bag as so Le bag for the one holding the poo. Job done.
