Dh putting bags of dog pooh in bin

timeforanewstart · 03/11/2020 10:33

We have wheelie bin for general waste collected every 2 weeks
I tens to line the wheelie bin as we have a dog and incase dog pooh bags or waste splits
Just after bin day we had ran out of liners , due that day
Dh decided to throw a bag dog pooh in bin without liner at bottom
Im not happy but he says i aibu
But at the bottom of the bin when all the other rubbish goes in it is likely to split open, bags we use a degradable as well and as its will be 2 weeks im not that convinced how well they will contain especially with a load rubbish
I thought he had removed it as we have 2 bins ( large family )
But just gone out and its still at bottom of bin along with a bag of rubbish one of kids as thrown in
I can't reach it to get out
I wouldn't of minded so much if he had at least placed it in a black bag first and then put in, he could of taken out kitchen bin bag and put it in that at least

I think you're sadly fooling yourself if you think a degradable poo bag will degrade in 2 weeks. More like 100 years.

YABU Its a bin! I've never had a bag split and if it did it wouldn't really bother me. I don't touch the inside of my wheelie bin.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 03/11/2020 11:22

The bin presumably lives outside and is made of plastic. Drop your rubbish (including poo bags) in it quickly, accept there will be slight smell for 5 seconds until the lid is closed again and then forget about it. You may want to hose it out every month or so, if the desire takes you; but it's a bit like worrying how clean your toilet outlet pipe is: if you can't see it and it doesn't stink, who actually cares?

Arf again at 'bin gravy'!! I also hear that those in the trade (bin men) refer to maggots as 'disco rice' Grin

This!

I get uptight about stuff, but honestly, let this one go. You are being overly precious about the bottom of a BIN, for the love of God, never mind the random "h" on the end of poo!

Let it go.

altiara · 03/11/2020 11:31

I think it would split if at the bottom and heavy stuff thrown on top. Just tip the bin over and shake it out. Better that than the risk of poo in the bottom of the bin.

Why? Seriously? What would happen?
Sunsetdawn · 03/11/2020 11:34

Depends where the bin is. Mine is right outside front door (nowhere else to put it) Therefore if it starts stinking, we and our immediate neighbours suffer.
OP I suggest laying bin on it's side and hooking it out.

bluebluezoo · 03/11/2020 11:34

I really don’t get the logic of trying to keep wheelie bins clean.

Liners, paying people to come and clean them- what’s the point?

They are receptacles for rubbish. They will never be “clean”

I have never walked past a bin used normally and emptied regularly that smells too bad.

CoronaBollox · 03/11/2020 11:34

We always throw dog poo in our bin and like most dont use liners. Never been a problem. YABU

ravenmum · 03/11/2020 11:40

The thinner compostable bags really don't last long.

Dreeple · 03/11/2020 11:43

I’d never know if shit bags split in my bin.

longtompot · 03/11/2020 11:46

I don't line our bin, which is also collected every two weeks, but I try to put poo bags in a carrier bag, and also make sure they aren't at the bottom of the bin. The thought of having to clean that Envy < not envy

BoingBoingyBoing · 03/11/2020 11:48

It's a bin.

I can't help but think people who get precious about what goes in a bin, or spend actual real money on cleaning services are a little odd.

JanQi · 03/11/2020 11:48

This is such a non issue. I didn't even know wheelie bin liners were a thing and all our dog poo bags go in there. Are dog owners really all lining their bins?

SBTLove · 03/11/2020 11:52

A liner in a wheelie bin?? Has cutting down in plastic bypassed you?
Where do you suggest he puts the poo bags??
Though I do have a poo bin in the garden due to multiple dogs needing scooped up after, would you like a link? 😉

FlyNow · 03/11/2020 11:54

Yep unless you use it as a bath tub, who cares. It's a bin. It's one and only job is to sit outside holding rubbish.

Lining a wheelie bin? Do you also line the liner in case the liner gets dirty? And do you then line the liner liner?

MaverickDanger · 03/11/2020 11:54

We have someone doing this to our bin & we don’t have a dog!

They seem to time it for when it’s emptied, so it’s right at the bottom.

mistermagpie · 03/11/2020 11:57

My wheelie bin is basically full of poo, two kids in nappies and two indoor cats make sure of that! I have never lined it but everything is obviously bagged. We are fastidious about recycling so there isn't much else other than poo and bags in there. I really can't see the problem? It's a bin, it's outside, who cares?

Ours gets disinfected by a company every time it's emptied, if there is one in your local area it's well worth the money. We are £8 a month so it's cheap as chips.

Happycamper78 · 03/11/2020 11:57

We pay for a once a month clean mostly because we've had maggots before...and it does smell better. It's £3 a month and worth it to me. I would try to get this out as they can stick to the bottom of the bin. Never split though.

mistermagpie · 03/11/2020 11:58

Oh and for people who can't understand why you would pay to get it cleaned - one summer we got maggots in the bin. Enough said.
