So frustrated with all the people, from the ineffective and blustering MP to the idiots out trick or treating tonight............

When will people learn that a bloody pandemic cannot be ignored and that insisting on personal freedoms/ personal preferences is NOT going to shorten the lock downs or save the vulnerable ? Sad

@catchabreak2020

I don’t agree the vast majority are following the rules. I think the vast majority are mostly following the rules but not completely
I agree a neighbour had a whinge when son came to pick up hedge trimmer he had the temerity to go into our garage. The same neighbour is out every day without fail, she actually broke county line lockdown to visit her family in England the day before the full lock down in Wales.

Another one broke county line lockdowns to bugger off in their campervan because they were bored, they have just returned.

I really do not care what they do, but the hypocrisy of it is irksome.

Pugdogmom · 31/10/2020 23:21

Going by a few replies on this thread, I can see why there is a Lockdown. First wave, I only knew a few people who had the virus. Now I know loads. A Doctor acquaintance passed away on Friday, early 40s and 4 young kids. Someone else I know died aged 34. Its not just the elderly.
Oh and for those that say why are we protecting the over 65's? Its not just the fucking over 65s that are vulnerable. Some of people have pre existing health issues, are they expendable as well?

Chuggington2 · 31/10/2020 23:43

@Pugdogmom i’m sick of that bullshit too, the two people I know who’ve died were in their mid 50’s. One still has his youngest still at home. Awful. The other guy his wife was also in ICU at the same time, she survived but will never be right again.

sleepwouldbenice · 01/11/2020 00:16

The virus was always going to come back in winter. Always
But the govt really hasn't done well.
And you've only got to look at comments on this thread and site to see some people have accelerated this

Lovely1a2b3c · 01/11/2020 00:22

@BoingBoingyBoing

The government have systematically reduced beds and staff across the NHS whilst it's been in power.

It failed to act quickly enough in March costing thousands of lives.

It failed to ramp up testing capacty, and to this day continues to lie about the number of daily tests.

Track and Trace is a joke, and fell over because it was being run off an excel spreadsheet.

They have failed to implement proper border controls.

They have issued conflicting, poorly communicated advice all the way through which their own ministers and advisors openly ignore with no ramifications.

They mocked the idea of a circuit break lockdown, learning NOTHING from the cost of the delay back in March and oh look, here comes another lockdown.

But sure, blame the family next door who forgot to wear a mask to Tesco the other week.

HmmHmmHmmHmmHmmHmmHmm

Agreed.
Frazzledme · 01/11/2020 00:24

Easy to blame someone you don't like the look of or who does something you don't approve of, but the virus mostly spreads through workplaces which is why the north is worst hit because jobs are less likely to be office based overall, plus closer together cities and the fact that infection rates never really dropped after the first lockdown.

I live in a nice affluent middle class area and half of them spent the summer in France with higher infection rates. No-one seems to mention it but let's not forget the virus spread to begin with from middle class people on business trips and skiing holidays. Their behaviour hasn't changed particularly, my neighbours didn't even quarantine when they got back from France as they should have.

So no, it's not really the idiots you might think. It's the fact this virus is invisible and it's everywhere. The only way to stop it is all reducing our contacts whether it's in a pub, a soft play, trick or treating or in an office. We're all doing stuff that can spread covid. Maybe some more than others but as we can't see it the rest is guesswork.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 01/11/2020 00:25

I'm sure this has been said as haven't RTFT - but blaming each other is EXACTLY what the government want so they can deflect blame from the monster fuck up they've made of the whole thing. So let's not shall we

AnyName1 · 01/11/2020 06:30

You have almost double the amount of deaths than your nearest neighbours. The ones your Prime Minister forgot to mention in his speech.

rwalker · 01/11/2020 07:02

Why don't the government look at another country with the same demographic. Dense, populated cities, highest number of fat unhealthy people and large number of people unwilling to follow rules to see whats worked there.
Oh wait there isn't one .

NotABridezillaToBe · 01/11/2020 07:15

The Netherlands is another densely populated country where people aren’t so keen on following the rules and it is in exactly the same situation as the UK. I’m no fan of the Tories but this isn’t a problem of their making.

Yes systems could be better put in place etc, but in every other country it is the same. It just isn’t that easy to start new mass track and trace systems. The government doesn’t do these things itself it outsourced them to the same kind of companies all the other countries outsource them to.

AnyName1 · 01/11/2020 07:35

Look at Northern Ireland and Ireland. 12,000 cases in both. I don't know why ye are not seeing it. All I read on these pages is wah wah wah this is not fair. I can't wear a mask, I MUST meet my mother, semantics over bubbles and ways to get around the rules. You seem to have no concept of working together for the greater good.

You've a half arsed lockdown and massive amounts of unnecessary deaths. Cop the fuck on.

RibenaMonsoon · 01/11/2020 07:46

From my viewpoint, my business will probably go under now. We just about survived the first lockdown. Now I'm worried about being able to feed my children. I'm worried I wont have a roof over my head. Im worried about my mental health.

I'm also worried about covid.

Theres no easy solution. But I see people on here talking a lot about lockdown, masks, following the rules etc. Which I have done throughout the pandemic. But I'm also vulnerable, not referring to my health. But referring to every other aspect of my life right now. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. Do these other factors not matter at all?

Assigning blame does nothing.

Qqwweerrtty · 01/11/2020 07:51

@SqidgeBum

You seem to be struggling with the concept of a virus. It spreads. That's what it does. Its spreading in workplaces, schools, buses, nurseries, care homes, hospitals. It's not all down to just people who dont follow the 'rules'. We have just been told to be annoyed at them rather than face the reality that it's going to keep spreading unless literally everyone sits in their sitting room, which is impossible.

Your attitude is akin to being annoyed at the fact that people have colds.

Jesus Christ it's a virus it's going to spread no matter what you do. Everyone would have to stay in their house forever to stop the spread meaning people like you wouldn't even be able to post shit blaming the 'rule breakers' because you'd have no internet as all the workers would be at home hiding under the sofa like so many people seem to want. And as for your last comment you're right people are dying...here's a list of them for you Hmm

List of all the unnecessary deaths.

Nothing to do with ROI having locked down earlier and handling it better, then?
Chuggington2 · 01/11/2020 08:49

@rwalker....😂

AnyName1 · 01/11/2020 08:52

Orcus, yes, everything to do with it! And we have a shit health system compared to the NHS, and still far fewer deaths.

Because you aren't governed by fucking incompetents.
Sunshiney1981 · 01/11/2020 08:55

YABU to blame individuals.
Blaming others is so simplistic.
I’m in a tier 3 area which has been under local restrictions since July and I can honestly say most people are following the rules and doing their best.
I hate this blame game but I guess that’s what people do in these situations. Turn on each other. Humans are so divisive.

Viruses spread. They are designed to do so. Unless we literally lock the entire population up in their homes (including nurses, doctors, delivery drivers, supermarket staff and all other key workers) it will continue to spread.
Please stop the anger and blame.

Sunshiney1981 · 01/11/2020 08:56

@epcot15
That graph is very telling.....

Chuggington2 · 01/11/2020 09:05

@NotABridezillaToBe kind of agree absolute poisoned chalice.....but local authorities already have robust track and trace systems in place, we really do have a world beating system there, we’re excellent at controlling other potential public health crisis - mainly relates to things like Salmonella, Listeria etc...weird then that they chose to outsource it to a company that doesn’t really have any experience in that area...honestly have a look at what Serco’s expertise is.

Also the messaging has been disgraceful and ambiguous, you only have to come on here to see that. I think we’re all pretty clued up on here most of the time but you’ve got people thinking thinking a one way system will minimise the effects of an airborne virus spreading in restaurants where you have tables from different households sat with no distancing or masks, wearing masks in the supermarket but having play dates with all and sundry in your house the list goes on.

Also Borris - FFS, biggest waste of space!

Chuggington2 · 01/11/2020 09:10

You can ‘catch’ most of those things though @epcot15 and sadly people live a long horrible time with lots of them and they don’t fill up intensive care beds. For weeks on end at the same time and they also don’t make massive swathes of the medical profession ill, thus further diminishing an overstretched workforce. The graph tells you nothing as this isn’t about preventing deaths. It’s about keeping the NHS functioning.

Chuggington2 · 01/11/2020 09:10

Sorry that should have been *can’t
