Morrisons Discount for school staff

To think Morrisons are wrong to offer 10% discount to school staff from Monday? What about nursery staff, university staff, college staff, and all the other essential workers, who haven't been on full pay all through the pandemic. Never mind those who have lost their jobs and businesses.

A 10% discount? Getting close to Aldi/Lidl prices then.

@Greenmarmalade

So far, i’ve about fifty quid out of my wages on stationery, prizes and coloured pencils for each separate bubble. A discount is very much appreciated! It also makes me feel a bit better after the crap we get in some papers and on here.

I’ve also spent a lot of my own money on my class since August because our school simply doesn’t have the funds. Ingredients for science experiments, topic books, art materials, maths resources, role play equipment, calm kits, Halloween treats, board games, stickers, prizes & stationery too.

I don’t mind at all for the stuff that enhances lessons and makes the kids excited. This weekend I’ve had to order basic supplies though. 10% off our monthly shop wouldn’t cover the monthly outlay on basic things for my classroom.

The reality is that TA is a desirable job, demand always outstrips supply because of term time working etc, so they don't need to pay any more to entice people in. Pay isn't always/usually a reflection of how hard someone works, but a combination of things.

Wait, supply outstrips demand I think, anyway- there are also tonnes of applicants and people who want to do it compared to actual jobs available.

@Tigerbalmtonic

Your full pay dig is BS, just like the rest of your post.

Maybe they should offer teachers furlough on 80% pay and see how many take it.

But then you would be moaning about teachers being furloughed.
