To be surprised that at how awful these dresses are?

I'm not sure awful is the right word or why Facebook would think I might like 'Pencil Me In' or 'Treat Yourself'?

They’re actually my style but I ordered a few bits and they are child sized! My DH was in hysterics thinking I’d actually ordered children’s clothes they were so small!

Angelina82 · 31/10/2020 03:45

Ooh I actually quite like a lot of them. Don’t think I’d be brave enough to wear some of the more outlandish patterns but it would cheer me up to see others wearing them I think.

PandemicPalava · 31/10/2020 03:59

I love them!

Bluewavescrashing · 31/10/2020 04:07

I have a few things from Harkel. I'm an infant school teacher.

Or, as a MNer described wearers of coloured tights on another thread, an art teacher at gnome school 😂

TheyreComingToGetYouBarbara · 31/10/2020 04:46

I don't wear dresses, but I like some of them. They're quirky and happy. Not everyone has the same style.

footprintsintheslow · 31/10/2020 04:53

@Goldencurtain

Well I've been put in my place, I like them, though wish the length was a bit longer. Felt really sad when Lindybop was shut down as their prints were gorgeous. These aren't quite as good but kind of in the spirit
Oh my god when did lindybop shut down? I've been off work for two years but all my clothes came from there.
mathanxiety · 31/10/2020 05:18

No self respecting four year old would be caught dead in any of them.

Mummyoflittledragon · 31/10/2020 05:20

I don’t think they’d be practical for primary school teacher workwear. They’re pretty short. Teachers sit on the floor with the kids at times and need better coverage.

If I were younger I could see myself buying some of the less silly prints. The rust jumpsuit is lovely. If only I were thin....

ZaraW · 31/10/2020 05:32

People on here rave about those awful Seasalt dresses these are even worse.

Bluewavescrashing · 31/10/2020 05:39

I wear short dresses to work (infant school) with tights AND leggings underneath for full coverage! I'm petite too at 5ft1 so the shorter styles aren't that short on me anyway.

Goldencurtain · 31/10/2020 05:41

At the beginning of the pandemic. Just disappeared out of nowhere, administrators brought in. Not even one final big sell off!

footprintsintheslow · 31/10/2020 05:46

@Goldencurtain well that's ruined my weekend. 😉

garlictwist · 31/10/2020 05:51

I quite like the Take me to the Stars one as it's a bit shorter in length. The others are frumpy as fuck

Nacreous · 31/10/2020 06:16

I quite like them. I have to pick and choose because I have broad shoulders and am not slim enough to cope with too much waist ruching but I've had a few nice things from there. I usually aim to wait til they have a 40% off sale!

But I pretty much only wear dresses, love bright colours and my dungadress from Sainsbury's is my most worn item of clothing.

dudsville · 31/10/2020 06:19

This is a wonderful marketing technique. I'd not heard of them before, and I prefer natural fiber knitwear, but I've bought a few of their cardigans and jumpers as a result of this thread. The dresses are cute but too short for my legs. Taste/style is different for different folks. Those who like sleek looks with lip fillers or muted colours and what I call "star trek" boots won't like this shop.

HogwartsAtChristmas · 31/10/2020 06:34

I like them! Much nicer than that godawful Toast website that's always being recommended on here. I am a teacher too!

RuthW · 31/10/2020 06:42

I think they are lovely and very similar to Popsy dresses which everyone (including me) seem to be wearing at the moment.

Whenasuitcasejustwontdo · 31/10/2020 06:49

Oh, I'm a primary teacher and have a few things from here Blush
Wouldn't buy again though as the quality is only okay for the sale prices.

Ihatefish · 31/10/2020 07:06

I absolutely love the patterns. Not so keen on some of the cuts though. The other clothes are quite cute though!

CeeceeBloomingdale · 31/10/2020 07:08

Not my style at all but I know someone who rocks dresses like that.

MandosHatHair · 31/10/2020 07:09

Thanks for posting that collage @Crunchymum I have the dress in the bottom right hand corner. I really love it but I think it may stay in the wardrobe for a while after reading this thread Blush

I have 2 Harkel dresses, they are lovely material and fit really well. Both the dresses I bought were plain ones though, I'm most definitely not a pattern fan.

Noideawottodo · 31/10/2020 07:29

Are they aimed at women who like to be 'wacky'?

pictish · 31/10/2020 07:35

Confusing thread this. As soon as I clicked on the link I thought ‘what’s the issue?’. They’re not to my taste but I know they’ll sell because plenty of people will love them. I like quirky clothes and in my search for stuff to buy, I come across these sort of dresses a lot. I’m surprised that you’re surprised, iyswim? The dresses are not surprising.
