To think this is a bit disrespectful?

If an adult child brings their SO to visit their old family home, and in full view of their parents and siblings, start to kiss passionately? It was so uncomfortable I had to leave the room.

@Jericoo thankfully his mum wasn’t on Facebook at that point so hopefully was unaware of the comment. I would be utterly mortified if it was one of my adult children on a family holiday with me!

Jericoo · 30/10/2020 19:20

Is it maybe a way couples show they are serious about each other to their family? Like a display?

I dont think its neccesarily about respecting your parents home but about respecting other around you no matter who they are. Its uncomfortable watching anyone passionately kiss in social settings.

MonicaBelulaGellar · 30/10/2020 19:21

I wouldn't say its disrespectful but I'd say its very, erm well... icky 🤮

ThePlantsitter · 30/10/2020 19:27

This is when you need an 11 year old around to say 'eww get a room'. Next time just pretend to be 11 and say it yourself.

Bellesavage · 30/10/2020 19:41

My DSis did this on a family trip on the London eye. You don't realise how slow it turns until you're in an actual bubble with a family member indulging in a excessive PDA

Georgeoftheinternet · 30/10/2020 19:44

Cringe

Heatherjayne1972 · 30/10/2020 19:47

Why didn’t you say something?
I wouldn’t have been able to stop myself

ClementineWoolysocks · 30/10/2020 19:50

@Jericoo

I don't know how I can look either of them in the face again now, I might mention to my parents that it made me uncomfortable and see if they feel the same? Maybe it would be better to pretend it never happened
It sounds like it was uncomfortable for the audience but seriously, you can't look either of them in the face again? It was a kiss for god's sake (albeit an extremely attention seeking kiss)
thosetalesofunexpected · 30/10/2020 19:54

Hi Op yes I agree with you, there is something far too much, it is inappropriate a peck on cheek or a quick peck on lips is obviously ok, that's it far as goes..euww.

SoloMummy · 30/10/2020 20:47

This is one of my siblings and a second can also get a bit too handy too.

I think that yes it's disrespectful. And unnecessary. There's a time and place for everything... A d that's not it.

Jericoo · 30/10/2020 20:51

They've just started doing it again!! I can't bloody believe it... My mum loudly said 'is everything okay lovebirds?' and they stopped

OP posts:
Jericoo · 30/10/2020 20:52

Didn't even look embarrassed though

Another who can't understand why you, or your parents didn't just say something Confused

Why on earth would you leave the room.
It is your sibling. Just tell them. Hmm

SleepingStandingUp · 30/10/2020 21:54

Good on your Mom op. How long are you all costing together for?

Have you got a partner? Is he making a point to you do you think as you said you don't like each other?

copperoliver · 30/10/2020 22:21

Not at all appropriate x

copperoliver · 30/10/2020 22:22

I'm surprised your parents didn't say anything, not that I would do that but my parents would have gone mad at me. X

islockdownoveryet · 30/10/2020 22:46

Then you should of said something anything . Make a joke or just say do you mind anything but if you want it to stop say so.!!
ShrikeAttack · 31/10/2020 00:42

I don't have enough details to judge.

Was it a quick snog.

Or a full-on mounting in the style of a Julia Davis' comedy?

ShrikeAttack · 31/10/2020 00:49

Are they 'not super-attractive' and a bit socially awkward?

Because maybe they're just really pleased to have found each other and want everyone to know that someone finds them irresistible.

Or they're just 'sex people Lynn'.

GirlCrush · 31/10/2020 00:50

Jesus that’s grim

What tier are you in.? Send them home, you can ‘isolate’
