To think this is a bit disrespectful?

If an adult child brings their SO to visit their old family home, and in full view of their parents and siblings, start to kiss passionately? It was so uncomfortable I had to leave the room.

@Jericoo

I did get a sense of showing off in some way, but I thought I must be perceiving it wrong because why would you want to show off in that way to your family? It's not like you're trying to get back at an ex or something, it's your family Halloween Confused

Have you got a partner op? Was it a ha ha look at me, I'm totally getting laid tonight and your alone?

Cringefest!!!! I think I would have had to say something jokey ( but whole in earnest !!) like 'put her/him down X you don't know where they've been ' or something similar

That's awful, spacewitch99. I'm so sorry to hear that, he sounds like an absolute tool.

Yes I have never had a partner, but I would hate to think my sibling would do that... I don't think he pays enough attention to me to bother being malicious anyway.

No not same sex couple

I don't know how I can look either of them in the face again now, I might mention to my parents that it made me uncomfortable and see if they feel the same? Maybe it would be better to pretend it never happened

My sibling has done this too, it's grim and so cringe. Why are you getting all touchy feely on eachother in front of family??

Would it surprise you to know they have a rocky relationship...

This made me laugh so much. I don't mind PDA. Don't see it as disrespectful, realise I am outnumbered.

My cousin took his boyfriend in holiday in a caravan with his mum. The boyfriend posted on Facebook to say how much he was looking forward to the holiday adding “If the caravan’s rocking, don’t come knocking” 😳 YANBU OP there is a time and a place.

Sorry aSofa, I must have missed your post! I don't know, I had to leave the room because I couldn't handle it. Actually maybe it was bad to abandon the others like that!

@CatsAndEyeliner Was just thinking of reasons for the behaviour. in some families, people feel the need to make a point about their sexuality e.g. through PDAs. Speaking from experience.

If i were to witness such a display, I would have piped up and told them in no uncertain terms and embarrassed them completely

If your sibling has social development issues I would be worried about the partner to be honest. Obvioisly socially not acceptable but where was he/She in all this?

I dont even like to peck my fiance on the lips in front of my in laws or my family, let alone passionately kiss him

'If the caravan is rocking, don't come knocking' Where is his mum supposed to be while he's doing that? xD

Sorry your experience has been negative @MonClareDevole It’s probably not a great idea to assume that everyone else is exactly the same though. We could do without the prejudice.
