Pair of knickers that aren’t mine?

Hi this is my first ever post so please don’t be too harsh on me!

I was doing a clear out of mine and DP wardrobes the other day and found a pair of knickers pushed to the back of the draws that aren’t mine (wrong size and from somewhere I don’t buy my underwear from)

Obviously I was very confused as to where they had come from, so when DP got home I asked him if he’d ever seen them before and he said no and said they must be mine or someone else’s, maybe from the previous owners of the house??

Context we’ve lived in our house several years, I clear and tidy the wardrobes frequently. We are in a happy relationship with DD so I really can’t understand where they have come from.

I think that would tell us a lot about the relative probabilities of the comfort/cross-dressing/affair/labrador options before us.

Whilst the Tooth Fairy stealthly takes a childs tooth from under their pillow the Knicker Pixie operates somewhat differently and places underwear in obscure places.

I would be very suspicious TBH. Time to do a Mumsnet and go through his phone? Though maybe he'd already have deleted anything if anything was going on.

Did you do washing when you were on holiday. They could have already been in the machine 🤷‍♀️

I think even if I was having a passionate affair I'd put my knickers on to go home...

I think it's the self-catering.

I found a pair of men's underpants in the tumble dryer at a villa once.

I do find it highly unlikely that he’s cheating, it’s really not in his nature and there is no indication of that other than the random knickers. It happened to a friend of mine and her DH was having an affair so it was the first thing that popped into my mind!

Probably behind the drawer for years. Whenever dh runs low on socks I take out the boots drawer and find all the socks he stuffs in haphazardly. Et voila, sock levels return to normal.

If SIL stays with me sometimes we swap clean (obvs!) knickers - despite being different sizes.

You what? Swap knickers? Why would you do that?

We have a pair of joggers that don't belong to any of us. It is very unnerving.

We have a drying rack over the kitchen radiator where I put socks and underwear. At some point a pair of knickers belonging to the previous occupant must have dropped behind the actual radiator, and eventually appeared on the floor. They were huge flowery pants, and covered in dust and cat hair. (The cat hair is ours.) I just binned them, after jokingly asking DP if they were his.

We had a cocker spaniel who was a terrible thief, and would knock the laundry basket over for dirty underwear and socks, or stick his head in the washing machine for them. He would take clean at an absolute stretch, but he would have had to be desperate. He liked to carry them around in his mouth and present them to people as a lovely gift.

Hi lorg - it’s odd to say the least - given you clear out the wardrobe from time to time. I would keep an eye out for his behaviour - anything unusual from him - any mentionitus - does he have any opportunity to have anyone over when your not around?
I’d check his phone on this occasion if you can. Others don’t agree with this but given the circumstances I’d look.

Surely if your husband had some sneaky reason to have them, he'd hide them better than in a shared bedroom cupboard.

I went on a trip away and came back with underwear from my flatmates as we surprisingly had a washing machine (the cooker didn't work) but we managed to get some laundry done and in the hurry a couple of items got in with mine. Its easy to do! I thought it quite funny!

If the OP hardly ever leaves the house, then it’s pretty unlikely he’s had another woman round to the house - so if we can rule out cheating (and it sounds like we can) then it’s a harmless mystery that will never be solved!

I came home early from a week-long break a few years ago and found my then partner prancing around in my heels and Anne Summers-style lingerie. I had wondered why some of my own nice things had gone missing.

Think. Something is going on and it's not a magic fairy or cat or a toddler putting a woman's pair of pants in your drawers.

Have you been on a self catering holiday? Cos if so they were probably in the washer or drier and attached themselves to your washing when you used the machine. I have several socks acquired in this way.

This has happened to me with socks too.

Amazing how often mystery knickers pop up in MNetters' laundry, though. I have never heard of this happening to anyone IRL.
