Pair of knickers that aren’t mine?

152 replies

Hi this is my first ever post so please don’t be too harsh on me!

I was doing a clear out of mine and DP wardrobes the other day and found a pair of knickers pushed to the back of the draws that aren’t mine (wrong size and from somewhere I don’t buy my underwear from)

Obviously I was very confused as to where they had come from, so when DP got home I asked him if he’d ever seen them before and he said no and said they must be mine or someone else’s, maybe from the previous owners of the house??

Context we’ve lived in our house several years, I clear and tidy the wardrobes frequently. We are in a happy relationship with DD so I really can’t understand where they have come from.

If SIL stays with me sometimes we swap clean (obvs!) knickers - despite being different sizes
Why? if you both have clean ones why swap? just odd.[/quote]
no - if we stay unplanned and don't have a fresh pair brought with us then we swap.

we used to do this on nights out before she and I got married.

Since they were in your drawers, I'd say it's highly unlikely that they are from an affair. Why would your DH put another woman's pants in your drawers? Since they're clean I'd guess some strange washing-related mix up.

I still don’t get the swapping. Do you mean that you borrow from one another if necessary? Or is it really, here, try mine and I’ll try yours.

That’s not swapping, it’s borrowing, swap would suggest you both have clean knickers and just wear each other’s.

I once found a ridiculous earring down the side of my couch. The type I would consider as costume jewellery. Turned out to be MIL’s 😂

I hope theres a reasonable explanation OP

This happened in our household. Turned out to be my mother's. We had visited her for a couple of weeks and did laundry there, resulting in a pair of hers getting mixed in.

I had this with my ex. He said he had been to the laundrette and they had come back accidentally. He was cheating.

@CleverCatty If you both have clean underwear why are you swapping? Just for fun you wear hers and she wears yours? Why?

I found a pair of boots in our hall cupboard. Not mine. Never did solve the mystery.

maybe from the previous owners of the house

Previous neighbors managed to leave knickers in your drawers..which I presume were not there when you moved in? Weird explanation!

Mind, we once had a situation where a random pair of knickers appeared, and still to this day have no idea about them. Seems to be the opposite of the single socks phenomenon. Maybe the black hole that eats socks, spits out knickers in return.

Over the years at Hope Towers I have found a pair of unidentified male underpants far too small for DH, a very luxurious bath towel in a colour I would never buy and a small useful but distinctive plastic bowl that caught the drip from the downstairs loo overflow for years until we had it made lovely.

Intensive investigations revealed nothing, and no one had any reason to lie. Weird stuff like this happens OP. Obviously don't leave your brains at the doorstep when you get in, but if you've no reason to be suspicious I'd not overthink it. Just be mindful. 😉

If you've recently been on a self catering holiday, they were almost certainly left in whatever chest of drawers you used, and you just scooped them up with all of your stuff.

The most probable answer is invariably the right one!

@sadie9

If the wardrobe was there already when you moved in, then that is the explanation. Also things can be left in air cupboards that get mixed with other people's stuff. If it's at the back of the drawer could it have been stuck in an upper drawer/part and fallen down into your stuff?
I had this in another house we were in, from time to time a kid's sock or something would randomly appear.

They are built in wardrobes that were here when we bought the house so it’s a possibility they could been stuck in the back of one of the draws!

Let me explain. I would sometimes go out with DB and SIL, unplanned, didn't bring spare knickers had to go to work - vice versa - because it's not nice to wear dirty knickers or go commando then she would lend me a clean pair of hers and vice versa!

found a soaking wet fetish outfit in a plastic bag in the cupboard under the stairs and said WTF is this and why is it wet, turns out he's been sneaking out in it and swimming in the pond down the road at night
@madcatladyforever, oh my god! ShockConfusedGrin
That’s weird as hell. What was the outfit and why did he like swimming in the pond with it on? Did he say? Sorry, I'm intrigued.

You know, unexplainable shit happens. But the same shit shouldn't happen TWICE. Finding one pair of knickers I might ignore for a plausible explanation (such as the self catering) but if it happened a second time, I'd raise hell until I got to the 'bottom' of it.

You are being unreasonable for saying you found them in draws
Were they drawers in draws or draws in drawers?

When this happened to my best friend, it was a pile of USED lacy pretty knickers at back of wardrobe.
Her DP confessed they were his and he'd been doing it since childhood when he used to steal his cousin's

It was a red lacy thong Blush hope it didn't cause any arguments!
