Suck it up. You voted for them. No one made you.

Everyone is entitled to have a moan, but seriously, WHY WHY WHY did you ever vote tory thinking they'd got your back?!?!

OP posts:
CakeRequired · 28/10/2020 07:43

Really the only people who shouldn't complain are the ones who didn't bother to vote or spoiled their vote. Spoiling your vote could be a great means of protest, but you need more people doing it, not just a few thousand. And not voting is just a waste too. You haven't given an opinion, so you don't have one essentially.

But I see the point too about why would they vote tory considering the past. The only way we can change this country from tory or Labour is by voting lib dem to be honest. They are the next biggest party that would actually stand a chance of making it to government.

Friendsoftheearth · 28/10/2020 07:44

It is a pandemic, I can't think posts like this really help anyone. Whether you are from the north or south of the country you are going to be affected. Whether that is this week, or next - it is here to stay.

Divisive, unintelligible comments that are low grade goading efforts to make people feel even more miserable is very poor form op.

derxa · 28/10/2020 07:44

Labour got complacent when it came to seats they presumed were safe This is what happened in Scotland. Labour got kicked out here because they treated the electorate with contempt. It's now a pathetic rump. The Labour party in the 'North of England' need to watch and learn.

lazylump72 · 28/10/2020 07:46

Who in the North had time to vote at all is what I ask? Surely the women were all scrubbing their steps and making full use of their mangles? And the men were all off in their vests and flat caps chasing t "whippets ont way t"pub?
Educate yourself OP...Please do not class the decent people in the Northern areas of this country as feckless and ignorant.It is highly offensive.

Rosehip10 · 28/10/2020 07:46

People who vote tory should hang their heads in shame.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 28/10/2020 07:46

@DrDavidBanner

I think its time to move on Jeremy.

People everywhere are moaning because we are in the middle of a pandemic and people are fed up

If labour has won people would be moaning (not that I think the government have handled it well but lockdowns are necessary in highly populated areas to restrict the spread of Covid)

Once again the sneering of those damn working class voters and as for those working class northern voters what do they know

They have lived their experiences and that is what often drives voting

Toptotoeunicolour · 28/10/2020 07:50

And to make it clearer, I don't mean loyal tory voters, you are beyond help
If you're so convinced your judgement is better than other people's I hope at least that you can see evidence of that in your own hugely successful life, although I doubt you would need to resort to Mumsnet to slag people off if that were the case.

DonnaDonna01 · 28/10/2020 07:50

The news say northern Tory voters are complaining, we’ll it must be true if it’s in the news!

rosie1959 · 28/10/2020 07:51

Let’s all vote Labour and then things will be wonderful
Doesn’t happen that often they haven’t been in power much in the last 50 years

MadameBlobby · 28/10/2020 07:51
@MadameBlobby

No one knew that they were voting for a government to lead us through a pandemic. Confused How could we?

I voted labour, more out of loyalty than out of any love for Corbyn. As rubbish as Bojo is, I dont think he would have been any better. During the vote, we were stuck between a rock and a hard place in terms of the two party leaders.
But they did know they were voting for a party led by a blustering fool and government by slogan and sound bites. This is the consequence of that so the voters do need to take the blame. I’m not saying they can’t complain but they do need to accept that the mishandling of the pandemic is down to what they voted for.

ShandlersWig · 28/10/2020 07:53

OP, direct your anger at why strong Labour seats turned Blue.

Moronic insults (atypical response it seems) really don't help your cause.

But no, if you did that it would mean accepting that Labour made some colossal mistakes. It suits your narrative far more to look outward and blame voters, facebook bots, Russia etc etc instead of inwards to the shitshow Labour became.

LolalovesLondon · 28/10/2020 07:53

bigger: We didn't have much choice...Jeremy Corbyn couldn't even get his glasses on straight.

Just a few of my favourite clips:

@Miljea

I read the OP and, like many, thought 'this won't go well' 😂-

But, I understand the sentiment.

I cannot fathom why any traditional Labour voter in a Thatcher decimated, chronically under-invested, poorly educated, austerity riven north of England town would imagine in their wildest dreams that any Tory would have their interests at heart.

How much history do you need?

Maybe they voted Tory because Labour's 13 years of power did nothing for them either?
TitianaTitsling · 28/10/2020 07:58

@BusyDreaming

The OP is an SNP supporter.
Ah!, knew I recognised the user name from other politico threads! The 'how dare you do something not in line with my opinion =you are stupid' school of thought!

They didn't need history - god knows enough of us have lived it - but they all realised they also didn't need Jeremy Corbyn. There I've said it. The Tories didn't win the North, Jeremy Corbyn lost it.
MoonJelly · 28/10/2020 08:00

@Alexandernevermind

It's called a democracy. We as the people voted for them so they are accountable to us. By causing a fuss we can change policy. I hate the "you voted so you don't get to complain" attitude.
Good luck with the changing policy bit. The only policy change I can see is Johnson and his friends becoming even more blatantly corrupt than ever. Just have a look at where all the track and trace, PPE etc contracts have gone.
Grobagsforever · 28/10/2020 08:03

Yup, if you voted Tory, you were asking to be treated with contempt.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 28/10/2020 08:03

'But they did know they were voting for a party led by a blustering fool and government by slogan and sound bites'

As opposed to blithering idiot Starmer who has a joke of a shadow cabinet.

People 'in the North' aren't one homogeneous mass. They aren't all on benefits after 'Thatcher shut the mines'.

Like it or not, until Labour are able to string sentences together and sound intelligent this will be the situation for the foreseeable.

As an aside Government have given millions to councils to support those struggling in the crisis but dont let that stop your tedious Tory scum style narrative.

StandWitch · 28/10/2020 08:04

What are they complaining about?

MadameBlobby · 28/10/2020 08:05

The handling of the pandemic is nothing to do with Keir Starmer. That’s just whataboutery.

People have to accept the consequences of what they voted for. That is all I am saying. I have not called anyone “Tory scum”.

Teateaandmoretea · 28/10/2020 08:05

So this shit would be better under Labour how exactly? Hmm. I voted labour FWIW.

I really think the disdain shown by people in the south to the current shit the north is going through is utterly revolting. Take a look in the mirror.

LolalovesLondon · 28/10/2020 08:07

As opposed to blithering idiot Starmer who has a joke of a shadow cabinet.

You do know that Starmer wasn’t the leader of the L party in the last election Don’t you?

CakeRequired · 28/10/2020 08:07

The OP is an SNP supporter.

That's actually funny since sturgeon previous right hand man, Angus Robertson, lost to a tory. Didn't salmond get kicked out in favour of a tory too?

Teateaandmoretea · 28/10/2020 08:07

But they did know they were voting for a party led by a blustering fool and government by slogan and sound bites

When the other option was someone who calls people ‘comrades’. Blinkered labour voters really are truly daft.
