Suck it up. You voted for them. No one made you.

Everyone is entitled to have a moan, but seriously, WHY WHY WHY did you ever vote tory thinking they'd got your back?!?!

OP posts:
paintmywholehousecobweb · 28/10/2020 07:10

@shellshock77 oh yes we do!

paintmywholehousecobweb · 28/10/2020 07:11

(Know why they voted that is)

FourTeaFallOut · 28/10/2020 07:11

Maybe don't look to the North to redeem your tattered Tory souls and deal with your own patch?

FiveMoreMinutesPlease · 28/10/2020 07:12

To be fair there wasn't much choice, but new Tory voters were voting for Brexit to happen once and for all. To get the job done.
I'm no Tory but I'm not sure Jeremy would have handled COVID any better.

paintmywholehousecobweb · 28/10/2020 07:13

@AmmoniteMum It was the Brexit brain-washing project that did it.

It was racism that did it.

Heatherjayne1972 · 28/10/2020 07:13

I’m amazed anyone anywhere voted Tory

Unsure33 · 28/10/2020 07:14

@Chloemol

Exactly.

And no one voted for a global pandemic .

Mumsnet is full of experts apparently who know all the answers but funnily enough can’t provide the solutions.

Unsure33 · 28/10/2020 07:16

@Heatherjayne1972

I am amazed anyone anywhere would have considered voting for JEremy corbyn as pm

From a floating voter .

LolalovesLondon · 28/10/2020 07:17

Completely agree w you OP.
You vote Tory - you reap what you sew I'm afraid

Sew Paintmywhole?

Life certainly is a tapestry woven by the decisions we make.

LolalovesLondon · 28/10/2020 07:18

I’m amazed anyone anywhere voted Tory

I’m not. The country is full of ignorant selfish people.

Gran22 · 28/10/2020 07:19

@Miljea

I read the OP and, like many, thought 'this won't go well' 😂-

But, I understand the sentiment.

I cannot fathom why any traditional Labour voter in a Thatcher decimated, chronically under-invested, poorly educated, austerity riven north of England town would imagine in their wildest dreams that any Tory would have their interests at heart.

How much history do you need?

Perhaps because they have lived in areas run forever by Labour councils. Low income, insecure jobs, and their perception might be that their LA cares more for the immigrant population than for them. Note the word 'perception'. With lots of rough sleepers and beggars on the streets, 'City of Sanctuary' doesn't always go down well either. Lack of social housing hasn't helped either.

People in the low paid, low status, insecure jobs may also resent those who appear to live just as well without working. Perhaps they thought the Tories might make things more equal for them?

Unsure33 · 28/10/2020 07:19

Anther generalisation and I think it shows that people dont appreciate the damage Jc did .
Not everyone who voted Tory thought brexit was a good thing .

But politics is not all about brexit.

tearstainedbakes · 28/10/2020 07:20

@AmmoniteMum

It was the Brexit brain-washing project that did it.

I have family in Doncaster/Chesterfield, all changed from Labour to Tory because BJ will ‘get brexit done’.

Agree, but this isn't unique to the north. The only people I know who voted Tory are from the midlands and the south.

Clearly the demographics show that it happened here too but it's not unique to 'the North'

Also, yes to whoever pointed out the racism thing

Unsure33 · 28/10/2020 07:21

So how is Labour making things better for Wales at the moment ?

It could sway future voting so watching with interest

LolalovesLondon · 28/10/2020 07:21

Not everyone who voted Tory thought brexit was a good thing

What on earth did they vote for them? Makes it even worse.

WitchesSpelleas · 28/10/2020 07:22

What are you saying, OP? That the southern Tory voters were relying on the north to keep the red wall standing because they didn't want to vote Labour themselves?

Because, apart from a few in London, there are hardly any Labour constituencies in the south of England. Thankfully, we still have quite a few up north.

Northerners are not to blame for the Boris shit show.

GloGirl · 28/10/2020 07:24

YABU. People arent allowed to complain about who is in power?
I suppose all those people who didn't vote should shut up too?

PenguinIce · 28/10/2020 07:24

It is a shit time at the moment and even if Labour were in Government it would still be a shit time. We are in the middle of a pandemic, let people moan if they want to.

TomatoesAreFruit · 28/10/2020 07:28

The conservatives didn't win. Labour lost by their own incompetence.

Threads like this show labour supporters still are not stopping and listening to every day concerns held by their core voters. Instead they are judging from high and blaming.

Surrey and great areas of the SE are Conservative seats, I dont ever see any threads complaining about them.

North vs South is a ridiculous form of identity politics and incredibly unhelpful.

rwalker · 28/10/2020 07:28

@nosswith
rwalker The Tories had a choice of 11 people to be leader. Almost all of the other 10, especially Jeremy Hunt, would have done a better job and thousands fewer would be dead.

There would have been fewer deaths under a Labour government, if only because Jeremy Corbyn would have acted quicker under trade union pressure.

Who knows
The north is struggling transmission proven to social mixing of households yet there's no blame on the public just the government .
The biggest failing is the general public .

paintmywholehousecobweb · 28/10/2020 07:32

Ha ha! @LolalovesLondon isn't it just.

Thisismylife1 · 28/10/2020 07:36

@rwalker

But every government in every country isn’t doing a rubbish job. We’ve got one of the highest death rates per capita in the world. There have been fundamental mistakes and u turns throughout. The public inquiry into the handling is going to be staggering.

I’m no Corbyn fan but I’m struggling to see how anyone other than Boris could do worse. Although a Labour govt trying to introduce the furlough scheme would have been slaughtered as reckless with public money.

ConfusedcomMum · 28/10/2020 07:37

I grew up in the Thatcher years and that taught me never to vote Tory.

My kids have never experienced having a Labour PM and the Johnson years will most likely teach them never to vote Tory too.

sst1234 · 28/10/2020 07:39

@ssd

And to make it clearer, I don't mean loyal tory voters, you are beyond help, I mean traditional Labour voters who thought Boris was their man.
Slow day at Momentum HQ today?
buggeroffvirus · 28/10/2020 07:41

We didn't have much choice...Jeremy Corbyn couldn't even get his glasses on straight.
