Suck it up. You voted for them. No one made you.

Everyone is entitled to have a moan, but seriously, WHY WHY WHY did you ever vote tory thinking they'd got your back?!?!

@Orcus

It's such amazingly bad politics to have pissed off so many people in the north for the sake of what turned out to be a few extra days of restrictions. This is what happens when you do everything on the hoof though. That GM stunt could easily cost them half a dozen seats at the next election.
I think they wanted to stick to local lockdowns but have been forced into a national lockdown because of the numbers. They hoped it wouldn't be for the sake of a few days.

It is always going to be on the hoof, decisions will always be made last minutes as no one can predict what is going to happen. They are reacting to the virus.

SAGE have been advising a national rather than local approach for a while though, it isn't like this came out of nowhere.

studychick81 · 01/11/2020 20:01

Yes but they are only advising on a health basis purely. The government is trying to balance health, economy, money and jobs.

Why does mumsnet allow this racism from southern snobs? People across the country vote for a government who they believe offers the best option at the time.
But mumsnet southern snobs just believe no one beyond Leicester has the right to read a political mandate and vote accordingly.
Sick of this judgement

I don't swallow the Govt line they are balancing anything.

They knew from acting late in March what would happen and they gone and done exactly the same again.

SAGE are not only scientists, the advice given is across a range of measures.

Oh dear. Racism??

If you mean regionalism, your swiping generalisation of all southerners is the only sort of ignorant prejudice I've seen here.

If you're thinking of OP. I might be wrong but I understood from pp that she herself is a Northerner...

It still wasn't new information that couldn't possibly have been predicted. Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted to see the Tories make politically stupid decisions, but it really was inept.
