Suck it up. You voted for them. No one made you.

Everyone is entitled to have a moan, but seriously, WHY WHY WHY did you ever vote tory thinking they'd got your back?!?!

OP posts:
Liquorishlucy · 28/10/2020 19:28

You can't say that though because you're being patronising Confused and they know what they voted for despite the evidence (and I say that as a northener Grin)

@PurpleFlower1983

YANBU! How anyone in the working class towns of the North thought Boris and co and have any understanding at all about their lives or care for their welfare is completely beyond me.
Don't people work in the towns in The South? How quaint.

Or are we different types of workers?

Stillgoings · 28/10/2020 19:48

Wtf? Are you alright about Southern people who voted Tory complaining?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/10/2020 19:51

Fully agree. Voting against their own kind isn’t quite the lark that they envisaged, is it.

Own kind? Are you for real? Or being purposely offensive? And stupid.
littlebillie · 28/10/2020 20:22

I think the Northerners who voted Tory were scared of Corbyn and loathsome McDonald

Teateaandmoretea · 28/10/2020 20:31

Southerners are better educated and wealthier obviously

Quaagars · 28/10/2020 20:41

Hmm Biscuit

quarentini · 28/10/2020 20:42

The ignorance on this thread is hilarious 😂
I assume some people have never been "up north " and think we all are completely uneducated, void of opinion and wear flat caps ?!
Idiots !

Quaagars · 28/10/2020 20:42

The biscuit's for the "own kind" comment in case it wasn't clear.
Have several.

Dragongirl10 · 28/10/2020 20:49

Maybe you would be better off asking why people who have never ever voted Conservative in their life did so in the last election. I have never voted Conservative in my life but know many people who did so in the last election and to be honest “suck it up” has to be one of the most childish responses I have ever seen. Why don’t you want to consider why traditional Labour areas didn’t feel able to vote Labour in the last election? Why don’t you want to think about what the Labour Party has to do to appeal to these previously die hard Labour areas that voted Conservative ? Sixth form politics of ‘suck it up’ may appeal to The politically illiterate but the fact is that the Labour part failed spectacularly to appeal to vast swathes of the North ( and in fact didn’t even make any attempt to do so). Perhaps the reality is that ‘the North’ has woken up to the reality that no one in Parliament has their back - that is certainly the overwhelming view of people I know.

Exactly this, spot on ^^^

Teateaandmoretea · 28/10/2020 20:54

@quarentini just for absolute clarity I was being ironic. The attitude towards the north right now is revolting in lots of ways.

Quaagars · 28/10/2020 20:58

This - I personally did not vote Conservative, (or to Leave) before I get accused of being a Brexiter.
I do know a fair few people who have always voted Labour turned Tory the last election though.
People from mining villages/towns who never voted for them before but did this time round.
It's all just such a mess.

Northernshepherd · 28/10/2020 21:02

@ssd why don't you be honest about why you started this thread?

DimidDavilby · 28/10/2020 21:12

People were stupid enough to think that voting Labour had failed to pay off (because Labour were not in power...) so they voted for the people who were in power who had been fucking them over all this time.

It beggars bloody belief and makes me ashamed to be northern. Not that we went blue but plenty did!

VinylDetective · 28/10/2020 21:16
@ssd why don't you be honest about why you started this thread?
Why does it matter?

BonnesVacances · 28/10/2020 21:25

I understand what you're saying, and whilst these voters were naive to believe the Conservatives, the buck stops with the party who reneged on their promises to level up. The Tories basically promised these people the moon on a stick and have failed to deliver. This is where our focus should be.

Northernshepherd · 28/10/2020 21:26

It doesn't. And?

Dawnlassie · 28/10/2020 21:30

I cant speak for anybody else. But when I cast my vote last year I was not considering how the PM might react to a once in a hundred year pandemic.

Oh how foolish I was.

quitecontrary123 · 28/10/2020 21:46

Don't be bitter. Southern England Tory voters will have their opportunity to loan soon enough.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/10/2020 21:48

Don’t mind if I do, thanks Quaagars.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 28/10/2020 22:13

Northernshepherd the op and a number on this thread make the same sneering comments on many threads. Working class and particularly northern working class bashing is very popular pastime among many on the left.

And on the right.
ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 28/10/2020 22:29

I see far more from the left (not all Tories are wealthy many working class have always voted Tory voting isn’t as split as so many on the left like to romanticise about)

It’s bizarre that so many are so self righteousness yet believe their politics is far more caring towards all of society

If only those pesky working class people would accept they know better 🙄
